  • what a pitty, just half of the video. fail.

  • 0:48... lol then they come back the other way with a body bag on a stretcher in the same casual way

  • Alkali metals would react with the CO2 Fire extinguesher.

  • Guys this is just a preview of what is to come,

the main video has been posted read the discription. :)

  • bastdard wasted 1:37 of my life, i want it back !

  • this video was cheesium

  • It very eciting to see how they prepare that, and we know the result of this experiment, but why don't you show the big explosion?

  • Its a trailer, click on the related vid for the SUPRISE!

  • always cesium in water... why not water in cesium?

  • Big Big Big thumbs down - you need to show the result!

  • WTF All that build up... (-_-"

  • Really useful, thanks:)

  • I thought it was gonna explode when they wheeled the trolley out through the car park :P

  • Now use five tons of the super reactive metal...

  • so what, i once burned my finger with natrrium and water:-D

  • I think they are giving us time to contemplate what happened in the plants at fukushima?

  • you're teasing us!

  • They're not very well prepared. That's the wrong type of fire extinguisher. It's a CO2 extinguisher - useless for this type of experiment.

CO2 actually fuels alkali metal fires. It doesn't extinguish them.

Spraying CO2 at burning caesium would be like spraying oxygen at it.

  • That was a terrible video. We had to sit through all the prep, just to be denied the ending. It's a bloody commercial. I'll never get that minute and a half back.

  • I love the cesium! I have 1g of it <3

  • Fuckin wasting my time!

  • Only lithium reacts to make a nitride at room temp. It would quickly react with oxygen though.

  • Is it safe with nitrogen at room temperature? At which temp does it react with nitrogen?

  • even the small amount of info about CsOH in Wikipedia is interesting:) it can etch through glass and such:) i was so weak at chemistry and now i love it... how come? I was good at physics as long as it didnt came too close to chemistry though:)

  • cool:) what about the cesium base that's left in the pot? how potent is it and what is typical for it?

  • fucking video

  • did they misspell cesium?

  • is there anything liquid nitrogen can't fix?

  • It is not "like" geek porn. It is geek porn. And I love it! :D

  • ... and ???????????????

  • wtf??

  • yeaaaa use a fire extingusher on water ur soo smart jk

  • Now can we do this with rubidium?

  • the colour is beautuful :)

  • cheat.

  • 0:57

LOL! He sounds like the greased up deaf guy from family guy!

  • You scum. I refuse to be manipulated by another human being to "go somewhere else" to follow the result of a video. Screw you.

  • wtf?

  • Why not whole video?

  • you should just get much more rubidium (or pottasium)with that money.

  • hi def slomo combustion? :)

  • love the videos.

i was just woundering why you would use so little Cs when for the same price you could probebly buy a ton of potassium or sodium. wouldent that be a more impresive bang?

  • But... that's cheating!

Besides, a thimble's worth exploding a.... big thing, is way cooler than a cupful exploding a slightly bigger thing.

Forget bangs for bucks, this is... maltreatment(?) for moles! Hell yeah!

(I couldn't find a decent synonym for bang beginning with m :( how sucky)

  • yeah LOL, or should i say MOL

  • yes but not purely with water

with K (potassium for some reading this) the "bang" might be bigger but less force its to do with the amount used, if you want to see a bigger boom look up Frankieum (i think thats what its called and if it is thats how it maybe spelt) about a gram of that stuff would take out a car or mini bus

  • yeah but its only got a half lifr of 22 min so you will never get the stuff, even in a uni lab.

  • plus its insanely expensive

you could always make some lol

look at VX gas (AKA Purple Possum in the UK military) it was made by a student in London, was sold as pesticide then was classed as a weapon of mass destruction

  • lol thats a lie!

  • couldnt it,since its radioactive,it could poison people.

  • franciuum decays too quickly for there too even be a gram of it.

  • its called Francium

  • @Oz6102: It's not August 10 where I live - or Hong Kong for that matter!!!!

I am working on the video now, but need a few more clips from The Professor before it is ready!

  • OK????

  • OK????

  • Wow...Awesome Teaser.

    BOOM.

  • I BET THE WORLD GETS BLOWN UP!!!

  • noway!!!

  • cant wait...

  • whole building is going to explode

  • Now let's see Francium...

    ...owait

  • no u.

  • Mean Teaser...rofl

  • ohhhh.....such a tease!

  • I love that the thermos they use for the liquid nitrogen is actually "Thermos" brand. I usually associate that name with soup and coffee thermoses.

  • yeah ammonia mixed with iodine gives you a compound that does that...

  • HAHAHHAHAH HE SWEARED!!

  • Don't forget to take a spectacular pic for Flickr!

  • that was cruel....... arggggg

  • do francium ...

  • Yeah, one of the rarest elements on earth. I don't think they will be doing that anytime soon.

  • Hahaha, I agree with you fully!!

  • This video is torture!!!

  • that's insane. and no way that little fire extinguisher is gonna put out a caesium explosion

  • Yeah, ahhahah you got that right, but the fire extinguisher is to put out fire of other things, like grass, or the table i think.

  • teaser on youtube?

    Really?

  • the inner chemist in me is screaming "show me" i cannot wait! lol xD

  • Damn! Finally! Can´t wait!

  • Next time you guys are going to do an explosion video, do a collection. 5 or ten bucks from 1000 people would buy a LOT of cesium. (your channel has 15,000 subscribers, getting a few thousand bucks would not be hard)

  • Hmm. but what if you poured luquid cesium into water....?

  • EXTREMELY fast reaction. Like a C4 bomb.

  • a reaction of cesium and water is nowhere near compairable to that of RDX.

  • yeahhh, but then again, a small nuke>RDX.

....But if you have an equal sample of the explosive, why not give take a video, edit it, and give a side-by-side comparison of the two?

  • i would not waste $40 on one gram of cesium to compare it to one gram RDX. i was just replying to a stupid comment that said cesium is like C4 (composed mostly of RDX) RDX has a VERY high explosive velocity. cesium would compare (if anything) to black powder. if you would like to buy me 1 gram of cesium i would compare it to 1 gram of RDX for you, and post the video on my channel.

  • Our old chemistry teacher once dropped a large lump of sodium into a bucket of water. The resulting 'energetic reaction' was biblical.

Can't wait to see the rest of the video

  • ohh my life why did you do it?

    i was on edge then!!!!!!!!

  • cruel teaser :D

  • Great cliff-hanger. I'll be sure to watch the video!

  • this really is a teaser. Can't wait for the whole thing......love the black and white effect ;)

  • i can't waittttttttttttttt D:

  • Boooo.. I wanna see it naooo!!!! lol

  • so cool.! ;)

  • I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • drop it drop it drop it drop it

  • WE'RE EXCITED AND PUMPED

  • Why not put the caesium in a container submerged under the water and then flood the container. That way the it wouldn't be able to do that thing where it just kind of skims along the surface...

  • A teaser ?!! That is just plain cruel , seriously , it inviolate all the humans' rights !

  • How cruel indeed, I'm suffering immensely from this pain. The tenth is a whole THREE days away. Thats like a BILLION seconds!

  • OHH CMON!

  • This is gonna be on my birthday, I can't wait!

  • i got so excited until i read the words "trailer"

  • Neil is my hero.

  • They toyed around with that on Braniac ^^

  • *lol, Brainiac! Darn screen keyboard. :)

  • FINALLY! Now we might see some real caesium action :D

  • Periodicvideos you're such a tease.. :P

  • Can't wait.

  • You're talking about Nitrogen triiodide

  • watching shit go boom is always a pleasure, its beyond geekness

  • This will be epic!

  • This is a serious question... did Pete swear at 0:55 ?

  • unless "caesium" is a swear word, then no.

    although he did at 0:58

  • No, he just beeped, lol.

    He's cool like that.

  • Arght, I'm going to be away until the end of the month! I can't wait to see the new vid!

  • this is like geek porn.

  • Is the video up yet?! Can't wait

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... I wasn't watching the red time bar as it got to the end!... nice preview! can't wait :D

  • holy, highly anticipated!

  • Ahh it's going to be explosive !!!

  • Ahhh I can't wait!

  • what a teaser!

  • dang we have to wait...

  • Can't wait!

btw I like the thermos as a dewar idea!

  • I wanna see it now!!!

your job looks so much fun. just blowing s**t up!!

  • Is that just me, or do other people think she's hot.

  • Finally! This is going to be exciting

  • What a teaser!

I went to look for the video and it is yet to be available to see... DAMN!

    Tease!

  • Awesome! Can't wait!

  • lol full video on august 10th awesome a day before my b-day, cant wait to see what happens :D

  • the 10th is my birthday =D

  • Haha, cool!

  • Can't wait!!

  • The music is a nice touch adds a little drama.

  • so excited

  • BLACK HOLE!!! AAAAAAHH!!!

  • nooo dont do it the worl is goin to blow up mgomgomgomgomomgogm

  • they already did it.. they're probably just doing some editing and such

  • OMGOMGOMGOMG

  • Comment removed

  • you teasing swine's!

  • ツ i was on campus when they did this you wont believe what happened next ಠ_ಠ

  • Why august 10??????

  • ON MY BIRTHDAY!!

  • I want Caesium in Fluorine!

  • The music makes the teaser so much more teasing. I'm glad you guys used solid caesium this time. I can't wait!

  • ...hehehe

  • the whole world will explode!

  • CANT WAIT!!! :D

So.. When are we getting the Radioactiveness of Francium in water!? :D

  • I'm really looking forward to this ;DDD That will be awesome^^

  • This is not a trailer, it's a teaser :P

I'm looking forward to seeing this video :D

  • gulllars: You're quite right... I refer to it as a Taesium!

  • What a teaser!

    drooooolz!!!

I'll be there on 10/8 to see that, several times.

  • caesium is a liquid at room temperature?

  • I called off work so I can be there on opening day.

  • noooo I'll be on holiday!!! damn gotta find an hotspot or an internet point!

  • gutted I have to wait 4 days. I remember this experiment done in school back in the day. It's gonna be a good video!

  • is not faaaaaaairrr..... 4 days!!!.. :/

  • next time periodicvideos should buy a slow motion camera for fast reaction.

  • @rochelimit55555: We'd love one, but run on a tight budget! We did have this reaction recorded from three angles though, so you'll get a reasonable look.

  • Did having the Caesium so cold alter the rate of reaction?

  • lol a trailer HAAA

  • I'm betting it will go KABLAMOOOOOO!

  • Gonna have to mark that on my calendar!

  • oh come on .. we cant wait !

  • I want to see it!

  • 96 hours!

  • That's going to be fun :)

  • cool

  • 4 days to go

  • nice
