hi I am currently an international student studying in a US high school. I have been in US for more than 4 years(with F1 visa). I am applying to CUNY now, I got a message saying that I have to take a toefl exam because I am an international student, Do I have to take it ?.......................THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME PLEASE HELP ME OUT ! THANKS !
Hello Rebecca, Greetings from Venezuela. I´m going to take the TOEFL on august 21st.
I´ve been taking english classes for about 3 month only for preparing to my toefl but i still having troubles with my speaking practice because i feel that the ideas doesn´t come easily to my mouth, do you have any advice to me? Thanks a lot.
Could you define "people who are non-native speakers of English"? My parents are both immigrants from China. They both speak Chinese but my mom can speak English as well. I was born in the U.S. and as far as I can remember, I have been speaking both English and Chinese since I could talk. So, is it really possible to have two native languages if I'm bilingual? If that is so, do I really need to take the TOEFL if English is one of my native languages?
Thank you for your brilliant posting,i am interested in taking toefl ibt,i reside in India,i have this following queries...1.where will i get best toefl books and materials,is there any authors or any websites?
2.Is it necessary for me to take up coaching classes?
3.Is the toefl ibt test conducted throughout the year?
4.what is the duration of the course?
please answer my queries and i will be waiting for your response.
As a college student preparing for tofel- ibt, I'd really need a person to read my blog. It would be very good if someone could leave comment or even grade it.The grading process is from A+ to F. I'd be very glade for for your support.
Thanks dear Rebecca you help me tremendously with my practicing, I will take my test this coming Saturday May 8, I will use your tips for sure, Blessings from God upon your life...THANKS!!
Hey Rebecca. I have a question about the TOEFL results. I was told that the Paper Based Test results take about a month to arrive. Is it the same for the Internet Based Test or is it instantaneously? Thanks in advance.
I understand. English tenses can be confusing. You need a really good grammar book, a good teacher, and lots of practice using the different tenses. Focus on one tense and understand completely how to use it and when to use it before moving on to the next tense. Keep reviewing the tenses you know as you learn new ones. My best wishes to you.
oh! i don't know how i missed this video, when i see this video its really a useful stuff for me. I am little bit confusing with tenses while speaking. How can i correct these things.
Hi, can you explain something about TELP(Test of English Language Proficiency)? I'm a technology student from Brazil, and the national selection is decided by TELP. Thanks.
I had taken toefl about 2 yrs ago and scored well, however I would have to take it again as it is valid only for about 2 yrs. The reason I am posting this comment is that I came across your video and found it useful!!!. Its people like you who make the difference.. and help the society!!!! keep up the GOOD WORK!!!. In a world where noone has time for the other you have taken the effort to impart knowledge!!! THANKYOU!!!
Thanks, Chumma25. Glad to be of help. Please remember that in most countries now, students take the TOEFL iBT, which is different from the previous exams, which were the TOEFL CBT and TOEFL PBT. So you need to study specifically for what is required on the TOEFL iBT. All the best to you on your exam, and in the future.
Keep studying. The TOEFL iBT is a challenging exam of academic English. You need to work hard to prepare for it. There are reading, writing, listening and speaking skills tested directly, and many other skills tested indirectly, such as grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, notetaking, paraphrasing and more....All the best to you with your studies!
The TOEFL is a serious exam of academic English. It's always best if you can attend some special exam prep classes.
At the most, you could study with a guidebook alone for the reading and listening sections of the exam. However, you really need the benefit of a teacher's guidance and feedback on the speaking and writing section.
The highest score you can get on the TOEFL iBT is 130. The 600 score you are referring to is for an older version of the exam.
In April I was tryin to e admited at bouremouth universuity and I had to do this test so I was on my way to lisbon 300km far from my home town and whene I was just about to enter the class room I was told that we wouldn't be able to do the text due to technical issues and I wasn't able to go to UK I had my money back but lost the oportunity to study in England.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH, THE SATURDAY I WILL TAKE THE TOEFL, and i was cheking if i could find something usefull and i found this video, thanks. keep that work to help all the people who ask us this paper.
Thanks to all for your feedback. Hope all of you do really well on your TOEFL. It is a challenging exam and long too, but you can do well if you prepare adequately and do many practice tests. Remember that it the TOEFL is helping you acquire the English skills you will need if you're going to study at university in English!
It was very tiring!!! 4 hours! I remember I got so nervous in the speaking part, but I managed to survive the test. I think I'm gonna get the score I need =D are you going to take the exam too?
.. I love english language. im thinking bout' studying modern languages after high school. but teching it is kinda boring xd so im considering journalism too :)
that was a very helpeful video, thanks a lot for your effort. can you provide us with some websites where we can see samples of TOEFL tests ? that would definetely help before the real test.
The best place to look for samples of TOEFL tests is actually in the many TOEFL guidebooks, such as Delta and Barron's, which are quite close to the actual exam. Longman is a little easier for those who are starting low, and Cambridge is hardest for those who are more advanced.

i'm going to take this TOEFL end of this year and i need to score over than 600 as a requirement of being lecturer in my country's university.
is that enough if i just study refer to the TOEFL books like Kaplan without attending some extra english classes?
And, what is the total marks of this exam?Is that possible for me to score 600 above?
please give me some advise in videos or something.i need some motivation.
