  • Amazing music!

  • Love nujabes

  • 'Malcom, Coltrane, My man Yusef!' - Common... dammit i have so much respect for Common for bringing me to this, which is a big coincidence how one of my biggest inspirations, Nujabes sampled this for 'The Final Veiw'

  • @WahTakVong legend

  • @WahTakVong Common wasnt referring to Yusef Lateef in Be, he was talking about his own personal friend that he dedicated the song Reminding Me (Of Sef) to. But it's cool that you discovered the music anyway dawg :)

  • @Somegamer Ahhh damm its still cool that I found Yusef this way, thanks for correcting me, I was only guessing :P

  • ノース作"スパルタカスのテーマ"の最高表現、ユーゼフ・ラティーフのこの上なく優雅なオーボエとバリー・ハリスの厳かなピアノ、ハンフリーズの控えめ刻み #jazzm

  • Really nice; thanks Katie

  • I love this man, but he's married and he doesn't really care about me...

I feel, feel to my soul every note in this song when I think about him, I wish he loved me.

  • @SilkCafeAuLait

  • A one legged homeless man with a saxaphone in downtown Ceveland was playing this as i walked back from lunch one day. the Nujabes sample version had been lost in my playlist but this man informed me of the actual title and now i have found one of the more beautiful musical pieces i have ever encountered. Thank you,

  • @216Dawgpound Beautiful.

  • BROTHER YUSEF LaTeef

  • nujabes!!

  • Nujabes did this song great honor. R.I.P.

  • No other recording like it.........EVER!! Makes you cry real tears.

  • @waynothewizard You're not kidding. Recently, I was visiting home and before I left, asked my mother if she wanted to get some flowers for my dad (he passed away 5 yrs ago and I was leaving for home on Father's Day). It had been on my mind, and she opted to it. We got my little brother and went to buy some flowers---and it was a quiet though relaxed time. I followed them in my car, and I had the Nujabes song playing. When the flutes from the Yusef sample hit, I finally wept after 5 yrs.

  • yes nujabes,sample..

  • nujabes sample

  • you know any place to find the notes for flute?

  • one of the most amazing songs ive ever heard. amazing how quickly one song can move to the top bracket of my opinion. i guess saying it like that doesnt make it seem like that, can you please pass that?

  • this particular piece is really complex one if you analyze it from the theorical aspect...i has inflences of serialism its really amazing...

  • @LOLOKAKASOSO How? This sounds utterly tonal to me. Most modulations and resolutions have a dominant chord right before them, which sort of seals the deal for me.

  • nujabes!!

  • @sk8er890 Yo Nujabes brought me here as well, I just discoverd a great musician!

  • Cosmic stuff.......blow that flute Yusef!!!

If I can get Don Cherry, Lonnie Liston Smith, Pharaoh Sanders and Yusef Latif in one concert....that would be truly cosmic nirvana....someone make it happen please!!!!

  • OMG I am in love with jazz....what have I been missing...just wow.

  • sampled by:

    "Nujabes - The Final View"

    "Shurik'n - Manifeste"

and surely by many more help me if you know any other artist

  • @balughetto DJ Ezasscul - The Jazzy View ; Ackryte - Spartacus Swing

  • @balughetto Opposite Day - PH & Talib Kweli

  • does anyone have the lead sheet for this song? That would be great!

  • Few remember this giant.. I surely do. I was a "young un".. but was always a romanticist.... hell, I still am!!!! THIS recording shows you how I think the... pursuit of her is the height of adventure.. NOT.. the conquest! He and Nat Adderly's "Saying Something"... bring back truly, truly fond memories!

  • one of the most poignant tunes of all time

  • @EMCEMITCH

    Respect!

  • I'd love to have chords or notes for this.

  • I feel it is not only his music - Lateef tries to be en accord with his spirit. Many ragas from the first note take the same journey.

  • I wanna be like Yusef Lateef and Nujabes!!!

  • humility sings the blues...

  • Just cannot stop listening..

  • If i suddenly die remember me as this music

  • @AnimalsRightToDance

That's beautiful spoken about one of the most beautyfull songs i now.

    Heavenly!!

  • Proud to be a Yusef in the Entertainment industry :P

  • Pure perfection!!! Makes me cry...

  • first time listening to this stuff, i cannot believe i haven't heard this awesomeness before.

  • Places one in the spirit of hope and everlasting life. Musically, this IS the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. Yusef and the rest of the musicians makes it all come true----All thanks be to the Most High!!!!!!

  • @evidenceunseen1 I agree. How any atheist can listen to such beauty and deny the existance of God is beyond me...

  • @conkpit

You just won the Non Sequitur Of The Year Award

  • @NeuropolitiqueCOGGER Oh, thank you, very much...you're too kind. Here's another one: musicians fly when there's no need for an airplane.

  • @conkpit I agree 100% this song touches the soul in deed.

  • I feel so lucky to have discovered this. It brings out emotions i don't experience with other music or situation

  • I have loved this version since forever...

  • I come every weekend to this song. cant thank you enough

  • man this soooo nice my first ever hearin this kinda stuff...

  • I feel like you can see what life is through this song

  • certainly one of the best ballads ever performed on disc and with the unique choice of oboe with its beautiful melodic tones is an all-time favorite--just so poignant and spiritual done by the great yusef lateef, god bless him still going strong at 90

  • This is amazing , i cant say how this has touched me today. But I feel inspired, thank you. Nothing like the pre 70s jazz except for me terence blanchard

  • I can't easily think of a song that ever touched me more than this. I try not to listen to it too much, it always makes me cry. It's so simple, so sad, so hopeful and melancholic, it really is on a higher level!

  • Nujabesの元ネタはこれか。原曲も”the final view”もどっちも素晴らしい世界観だな…

  • Beautiful song.

  • Didnt flying lotus sample this?

  • I've just fallen in love with this song. This is probably my fifth time tonight listening to this. So soothing.

  • which one has the feather sample?

  • @ZoomZip Love theme from robe.

  • @ZoomZip Feather takes a sample from 'Love Theme from The Robe', about 2 minutes into the music...

  • Nice :) and Relaxing...Love it <3

  • One of my all time favorites. The memories it conjures are varied. From romantic candle lit conversations to listening in an open squad bay with a bunch of jarheads thinking of home.

  • Inspiration - play on sir as it was meant to be!!

  • Do you guys not get goosebumps when you hear this?

  • Absolutley sublime.......cool to the nth degree.....try also some Dave Brubeck Time out and Kenny burrell Midnight Blues......in the same groove..............

  • ripe nujabes....

i dont care if someone else said it.

the more the merrier. haha. never used that line before

  • this song makes my life not so bad

  • Lovely. Thank you!

  • Fabulous! Thanks.

  • Real Nice One!!

  • Yusef is incomparable, but what also really makes this record is the beautiful playing of Barry Harris, especially on the 1st track, The Plum Blossom, in which Yusef plays a Chinese flute that only produces 4 notes. Barry really had to stretch out on that one and fill the space & he rose to the occasion more than adequately. Both of these wonderful musicians are still with us, with Yusef turning 90 years old on October 9. Everyone remember to wish him a very momentous milestone B-Day this fall!

  • @soulfullyanointed

Chinese flutes have more than 4 notes.

  • Honestly, one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

  • Makes me proud to be a Jazz fan, and a Yusef

  • Blow my brother Yusef Blow!!! والله أكبر

  • amazing

  • I first heard this in 1966 and fell in love with it immediately.

  • One the most inspiring songs to me personally! Recorded my own version on oboe with Munyungo, Eric Sittner, Esteban Adame and Andy Sanesi, please check it out, thanks! Thanks for posting this!

  • Pure Magic

  • The album Aurora was the one that introduced me to Jean Luc Ponty. I really enjoy his music.

  • I love Jean Luc Ponty, I have of his LP's and CD's What has happened to him I haven't heard anything new from him. The song that introduced me to him was Renaissance in the 70's. It is a delight to talk with you.

  • Just Beautiful! Thanks for putting this up, it's my favorite Yusef Lateef tune and one of the sweetest love themes ever. There's just the hint of sadness that sets this song apart..............

  • Pure as it gets. I spent many a night listening to double sessions Live GV NYC Down Under. So thankfull I have most of his original alblums.

  • The masterpiece.

  • Have you ever heard of John Hall check out his album Concierto and listen to Rodrigos Concierto de Aranjuez . I have heard this song many different ways but this is my favorite. Also have you heard of Willie Bobo? Weather Report. I could just keep going on and on. Have you heard Nina Simone sing Wild is the Wind, they used it in the trailer for Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet and Leonardo DeCaprio It haunted me, I knew the song but that voice. It was Nina Simone

  • @97scoot Willie Bobo was one of the Fania All Stars. Check them out. Also check out The Harlem Orchestra. They are amazing! They are also very young and started by playing for free in Central Park in New York. No one can imitate Nina Simone. She was one of a kind, like Etta James. The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach. I saw Mose Allison there, maybe you sat next to me? It has been closed for years. Peace & Love Patty JonLuc Ponty?

  • I really enjoy Nina Simone I was raised on her in my early teens. Mose Allison is great I saw him at the Lighthouse. Gil Scott Heron I have listened to him on the radio in the 70's but really don't know too much about him. Do you like Milt Jackson, Jon Lucien and of course Cal Tjader just to mention a few.

  • Sure! I am always up for any good music. I enjoy listening to old an new musicians. Feel free to let me know . Thank you again.

  • @97scoot Look up Dave Mason, " Alone Together."

Nina Simone, version of I'll Put a Spell on you, Sinnerman. Mos Allison, " Your mind is on vacation, but your mouth is working overtime. Gil Scott Heron, " The Revolution will not be Televised " Let me know what you like. Peace & Love

  • this guys ahmadi (Y)

  • Can you possibly upload the Lateef cuts: "Live Humble" and "A Long Time Ago" from his album, The Diverse Yusef Lateef ? They have a most beautiful example of his solo flute playing.

I had the vinyl in 1972 and lent it to a new friend who never returned it.

  • rip nujabes

  • Thank you. One of my favorite pieces of music.

  • I love this version also. Yusef Lateef what has happened to you where are you

  • @97scoot He died and is in Heaven playing for God now. He was a beautiful person, kind and sweet with no ego to blind him. He made " Slugs" in New York. One of his last gigs was the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach. I met him when I was six years old and he played for my father.

  • @MsPatty1952 Thank you for your response. As far as I am concerned he never received the notoriety that he deserved. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. Sounds like you had a chance to meet him, lucky you. Thank you again.

  • @97scoot Yusef Lateef was never into fame and fortune. He played because he had to play to live. He was a very quiet man, completely intuned with the Universe. Who else do you like? I may be able to turn you on to musicans you are unfamiliar with. I know so many. Thank you for writing.
