@MrFrozar Thanks to women's lib, men were stripped of their masculinity, and women wondered what the hell happened to males that used to be men. Nowadays, guys are afraid to do so much as compliment a woman on how good she looks for fear of finding themselves on the business end of a lawsuit. But maybe not on the planet you're living on.
@wannawatchu66 hahahaha righto drama queen! it's not a planet it's called australia & men are just as chauvinistic as ever & women have got in touch with their inner slut it's beautiful! Where in the world can u get a lawsuit for complimenting a women thats just ridiculous.U have to be american for sure.over hear we still wolf whistle alot & girls even count how many they get.In aussie terms man up,harden the fuck up and stop whinging!
@MrFrozar You're right about being American...some women here don't like being complimented because they assume the guy is trying to get down her pants. I, for one, have never sexually harassed or assaulted a woman. Yes, it IS ridiculous, but American guys have to be careful. I've known guys that have had to undergo this "sensitivity training" crap or be terminated. "Man up, harden the fuck up and stop (whining)" as you put it. I agree with you, actually...if only it were that easy.
@wannawatchu66 No way did women's lib strip men of their masculinity in fact it gave us more of it.It gave women their independence and as a side effect ours as well.I think your referring to a time of masculinity when it was alright to beat a woman and imprison her in her own home,to sexually harass or assault a women in the work place and get away with it.The planet your living on sounds gay!
I really have to agree with onlytheshadowknows7 say's,"Such a wonderfull song, a time of innocense that will not return,,,. sad, in a way..", I totally agree. I was about 8 or 9 at the time...the 60's and early early 70's were a great time to be growing up. The music, clothing, and everything made it a special time..."I never will forget thought's days, thought's innocence days:...
I totaly agree, if this could be de music of toda, this song brings me such good memories of the 60's, inmagine, now am 66, this is a song that I will remember allways.
A pretty girl, a song that actually has a story to tell, and the vocal ability to pull it all together, something that is sadly missing in today's music. I'm not down on all of today's music. There are a handful of singers today that really have enormous talent. Timberlake, beyonce, but they are becoming few and far between. Entertainers of the past really didn't need to rely on gimmicks. Ridiculous costumes elaborate dance routines to cover for the lack of real vocal ability and talent.
Those were the days, when singers simply sang the song, sang on the notes, without autotune or anything. Now it's not singing, it's vocal gymnastics, singing all over and around a note. Times have changed, I know, I'm just fuckin' grateful that I was young then. Oh, and WE had the 'Sexual Revolution", pre-AIDS, etc. LOL I sure wouldn't wannabe sixteen today. Scary thought, that.
if anybody wonder,s about my comment about bongle from the jungle filthithy sickingg rap music. Look at the colored group,s from the 50,s 60,s 70,s both male and female. And what they are now that question will answer it,s self. Only class talent elgance left now is celtic women group and celine deion
They could if they wanted to 60jomer Thiswas when class elgance talent ruled unlike today. Today bongle from the jungle filithy sickinng rap noise and hick music. To bad we cant,t go back when class elgance talent ruled.
WOW. What an incredible experience that must have been for her. The day after her single hits number 1 she's meeting and singing for Ed Sullivan and every American with a TV. I'm surprised she wasn't more popular.
I'm starting to understand why Facebook doesn't have a "dislike" button and the difference "+1" button makes. If you don't like something, that's fine... it's your right. But it brings negativity... somehow. Such a beautiful song with overwhelming likes... makes me wonder why would someone dislike it. I'd say, bring Google's +1 to YouTube...
Yep. The giant experiment that started in 1970 with no-fault divorce lead to the "non-traditional" family as the normative experience for children (basically, say goodbye to a positive male role model). Just read what youngsters post on twitter to get a better understanding of the direction we are headed in.
@jirvingnc I was referring to her live performance, as opposed to her studio recording. Sometimes live performances fall flat, and can be disappointing. But this was great!
I loved that movie. Saw it when I was just a tike, but what an impact it had. My brother and sisters were just as impressed. It was like a learning tool for the young.
We always watched the "Ed Sullivan Show". A retired Catholic priest in Canada. And, of course this film became a classic. And this theme song was the crown of this wonderful "Sidney Poitier" contribution to great films. Thanks.
Wow! Takes me right back there...remember hearing it on my little Airline transistor radio. SIX transistors, not the common at the time five. I guess like 4g versus 3g today. :)
Luluofficial- I don't believe you realize the popularity of your song and your name LuLu was to Hispanic women throughout the U.S. and Latin American. Many Hispanic girls I grew up with Lourdes as their legal names abbreviated to LuLu and was extremely popular throughout the southwestern United States. Your talent and your song, To Sir, with love reigned and was beloved by us Hispanics and not to mention with many other British talents with class!
@alayna729 - Lol-I'm sorry, you seem sad about it. Well, the 60s were really cool & hip. I was born in 55, so I was 12 in 67. The Supremes, Motown, Lulu, Leslie Gore, Sonny & Cher, Association, Beatles, Beach Boys & Mamas & Papas were all hot. Fashions & hairstyles were awesome; people were stylish, clean, neat, coiffed, women wore full makeup, false eyelashes, trendy Mod fashions, hairpieces, wiglets, wigs, cascades & huge earrings; men wore slim pants, suits, ties & beatle shoes, Mod haircuts.
Lulu was singing live. This was the Ed Sullivan Show, where hot stars showed their stuff. The Rolling Stones got in trouble for singing the real lyrics to one of the songs.
I can't stop watching this over and over,, It brings back so Many,, Many, Memories. One thing that "Stands Out" in the Movie,,,is,,, "How" the "Teacher",, took a bunch of,, "Hoods",, "Punks",, "Low Lifes",,, And,,, "Taught" them, to be,,, "People"...
I see "Sir",,, and Replace him with my Lord and Savior,,, Jesus Christ,,, And How "He" took "Me",,, and turned "Me" from a "Wretch",,,,, To a "Wretch", with a Savior,,, Named "Jesus Christ" !!!
I still love this song even today!! They don't have music like that today unfortunately.
