@MIRANDAlegheadsmack technically they arent latter day saints, they are fundamentalist latter day saints...i am lds, and mormon...and practicing polygamy would definitely get you excommunicated from my church. these people are a bunch of crazies that practice polygamy and pretend god wants them to. disgusting.
As a woman, I can't stand that "sensitivity" crap they talk about at the end. Yes, we can be emotional at times, but there are also plenty of men who are sensitive enough to pick up on the subtleties of relationships, family dynamics, and social interactions. I have to agree with TheRushingWind on this one -- it is much harder for a man to approach a child than a woman.
I know it is a family business and it is a family occassion and it is rude to intrude into their business, but at the same time, if the laws of USA are similar to that of Australia where I am from, (1) it is illegal to marry someone under 18; (2) it is illegal to marry someone against their will; (3) it is illegal to have sex with someone without consent; (4) it is illegal to have sex with someone under 16. In total, there were two counts of statutory offences and two counts of criminal offence
The reason given for the women intervening more than the men is bull. The cold hard truth: so many people, particularly women, are paranoid about men, particularly in America - so due to that paranoia, it's a lot more difficult for a man to help a child.
First of all, not all Mormons practice polygamy, just one sect. Secondly, everyone has a different opinion on religion. No one is going to agree and I guess we have to live with that. There's no point arguing over all this stuff because no ones gonna win. We could all be right or wrong. What matters is what we believe and that's all we need to know.
Only 4 people.. :( That's really sad. This will help me remember to do something if i'm even in a situation like this. (or in anyone situation from this show.. )
@mailmanforyou I'm not an emotional girl but this makes me melt. And shows that men have more balls. What will we without men?
Yeah.. i will wait for when society accepts gender as a trivial thing and that no one is more superior. Women don't have more balls, physically of course and metaphorically. The world is too random for superiority to exist. And if women werent here there would be no future, of course thats for both sides. Please consider that this is a fake and dont say anyone is better
@mailmanforyou it doesn't show women have more balls. Part of the problem IS women - even today you get, particularly in America, loads of women refusing to hire a male babysitter due to their paranoia - so the men in this situation may have been worried about looking like child molesters for approaching a child
@mailmanforyou indeed. Sadly on at least one occassion, a man was afraid to help a child for that very reason. The child had escaped from preschool and wandered off. The child later died (by drowning I believe). If it wasn't for women treating men the way they do when a man ia around a child, that wouldn't have happened.
@blitzkaton how can you be a Muslim when the very things you hate are part of your religion? You need to leave your religion (safely of course - the penalty for leaving is to be murdered) and speak out against it.
@littlemuslimgirl1 the real christian belief is to not have more than one wife, but islam allows that. Mormans practic poligamy and people claim they are christians just because they believe is Jesus when it is only their own twisted version of 'christianity' but in fact isn't. Please get your facts straight. And about being 'pervs' , Jesus wasn't the one who married a 9 year old girl. God bless:)
@natosh187 Yeah but according to your "christianity" Jesus is a son of incest relationships, So who is the "perv" now, And i really hate to break the circle of ignorance sorrounding you head but the number is actually disputed.. some say 9 others 15 and as high as 20 to some other historians, It's not clear how old was she.
@natosh187 Real Christian belief? that's a bit odd, so far that's the 234,895,234 idea of what a "REAL" Christian is, The bible is contradictory and full of shit, the fact that bronze age teachings are still popular at this day and age is beyond shocking
I am 22 years old, and for 18 years I was a member of the LDS Church, not the one shown here, but the one founded by Smith. I have parted ways with the church, but ask me, even now, and I will tell you you will be hard pressed to find a church closer to the teaching of Jesus Christ than the Mormons. There's a lot of bad people out there, and I'm not saying the base church is innocent. But what they teach is pure. The FLDS church shown here is LDS in name only.
im suprised its not labelled CHRISTIAN GIRLS forced into poligamy...because thats how these people write it about muslim women..and make a flipping media/breaking news about it //... see it still happens in the west too...who are the pedoes..perv's and sick humans now? hmmm
The last girl at the end was by far the best and I am so inspired by her. She was extremely brave for walking straight up to that family and noticing the problem and trying to fix it.
What really struck me was the woman who said "that's not a hero!" for helping the girl. She's right. That's just doing what any good human being regardless of race, gender or creed, should do.
This is a waste of peoples gud wits.... Like the story of the board shepard boy who cried wolf for entertainment. When he was actually attacked by a wolf, no one believed him. If these people ever run across anutha situation, thay are gone hesitate wondering if this is "ABC pulling anutha one of they f@#$% up studies?" They aught not play with people emotions like that....

My heart went out for that child! I cant honestly say if i would have helped or not, I would have wanted to! But u never know until u are placed around or in that kinda of situation...
Old man: Where are you taking her? Good Samaritan woman: Wherever she wants to go. Me watching video: Yeah! You tell that old fuck he can't have his way with her! (I know I shouldn't say stuff like that but some people are so sick.) :'(
@Cacowninja I believe in GOD, but what i wanted to really say was. even tho I believe in GOD I am not a blind christian. and I will say not only does this city suck, soooo this world as a whole(really a large majority) SUCKS!
if i was there i would have helped. by getting on the phone with the cops then beating the shit oout of the old dude cuz thats gross a 80 yr old with a 15 yr old thats just fucked up
I wonder what the reaction would have been like if an adult male offered the girl a place to stay, I guarantee the next person you would see would be Chris Hansen from to catch a predator, and also I hate the way people are saying that seeing 1 in 100 people step up and take action makes them happy, what would make me happy is if everyone in there did something, because these few brave people cant be everywhere, society needs to grow a pair, big time!
how is someone even supposed to help with something like this? in real life you go up and try to get her to leave and you'll be the one going away in cuffs for kidnapping. you can't just walk up to a kid and tell them to go with you so then what?
I guess women also generally have different moral standards towards situations like these, by that I mean stronger feelings. on top of that, for women it's generally easier to imagine what it's like to be in the position of the girl.
Even though polygamy is taboo, I wouldn't be bothered by it if it was done by consenting adults. But when it's forced on people, especially on underaged girls, I want to castrate the man in charge with a rusty knife.
Although I agree with what people did in this situation, polygamy is being touted as synonymous with child brides. This is not necessarily true, I think if more than two consenting *adults* love each other mutually, it should be fine.
lol It's strange to have such a physical reaction to something you know you're only watching that isn't real. For me, I think it's the kindness of the strangers, the determination they have in doing what they think is 'right' in that situation to 'save' that girl. I cried, too, watching when Beyonce gave up her acceptance speech time to let "Taylor have her moment". That generosity on Beyonce's part overwhelmed me!
@songbird525 I wasn't joking at the time, I was a believer in Besus (beyonce/jesus) but now I don't like her too much after I done heard what she said about the Jackson family. Lawd have mercy.
Hey... they're from a tv show called "What Would You Do" on ABC (you can do a google search and find their website to watch episode videos online). They're all social experiments to test people's common reactions to situations and then gives psychology-related explanations for the (sometimes surprising) behaviour.
@keenermarc i'm not sure i grasp the point of this...um...i wouldn't approach a family in a public place >.> family business is family business, where do i get off sticking my fat mouth into their family affairs? i wouldn't want some ignoramus approaching me saying, "hey buddy, i don't think you should name your kid that, because i don't like that name", amirite? call someone? who? Michael the Archangel, to report a violation of God's Law? =P like the cops give a fuck anyhow.
@rofflemows But this is polygamy, under-aged marriage and forced marriage. These may be moral, religious and family issues but they are also -legal- issues.
