  • The game wasn't over. Correct me if I'm wrong but if I were white I would simply move my rook up 4 spaces. Move the king to the rook's former spot next move. Game on?

  • @firstgadgets

I'm sure he could win a game given some 'special conditions' , wich is cheating. If it were at equal time control than there is no way he would even draw, let alone beat Houdini. Don't kid yourself.

I'm sure he could beat Houdini in a couple of 'special conditions, basically cheating. No way could he even draw (let alone win) a single match against this Houdini program. Don't kid yourself.

  • These games, while very fun to watch means very little for strenght comparision. Books play a major role in this case. Using a testset with a range of openings Rybka 4.1 it is stronger than Houdini at longer time controls (a test has been done with 2 hours/40 moves and Rybka won by 1.5 points).

Rybka it is still the best engine at tournament times. Also Komodo wins Houdini at that time controls. Actually Houdini it is so strong only at rapid/blitz.

  • Is Houdini 2.0 freeware? I would like to try to beat it, using a 4-CPU machine and giving it 10 minutes per move (while I take as long as I want).

  • @DavidMichaelFabian Houdini 2 or Houdini 2 Pro are not free, but Houdini 1.5a is, although I've seen that you've already played it - and defeated it!

  • @DavidMichaelFabian try opposite rybka 4.1 instead, houdinis weaknesses are easily exploited by humans but not rybkas. You will likeley only be able to draw if you are an amatuer

  • When humans play a game with increment sometimes we play pointless moves just for adding bonus (like checking several times or attacking pawns easy to protect) Does Rybka or Houdini do that?

  • @houpelaye im not sure to be honest, but all moves usually have a purpose - sometimes to gain a positional advantage

  • At 4:25 Time control: (10 m + 30 s) / 20+(0m+60)

What 20 stands for? Is it same time for both sides?

  • @houpelaye it means both engines each had 10 minutes (and a bonus of 30 seconds after each move) for the first 20 moves, and then onwards, each engine had a 60s bonus after each move. This was a long game and both engines had a lot of time to think about each move

  • The most offensive sicilian defenses variation. The middlegame is like chinese to me though...

  • Wait I just did a research...THIS IS THE 2 GREATEST CHESS PLAYERS IN THE WORLD VERSING EACH OTHER!!! Whoa I gotta analyse this...

  • @OverLordGoldDragon i have made many more houdini 2 pro games! they will be uploaded very shortly, and constantly

  • I don't know how Houdini showed incredible defence in the opening and then turned it into kickass offence...

  • @OverLordGoldDragon yeah. houdini 2 is amazing
