I really like superheroes as a genre and they are really only done well in comics. That being said, as a fan, maybe we need to think about what we are doing to get others buying comics? Not just the Big 2, but anything. If we start the pushing them when they're young, then we should have a staple fanbase by the time they can actually buy the books. We as a community must also be more willing to reach out and show the world that comic book nerds are respectable people.
the superhero must die. that is the only answer.vertigo is the only thing that has put out anything comics worth reading by the big 2 since the 90's save a few astro citys and ABCs.
@emperortomatoe Superheroes don't necessarily have to die, just readjust the horridly disproportionate percentage of them compared to other type of comics. Only in America is there one dominant type of story (and a huge company that lives off of it). In other countries, you can get westerns, war stories, romance, comedy and in asia, even sports. Sports stories selling is laughable here but over there? SALES!
@emperortomatoe I really like Remender's X-Force, ASM, and Avengers. Superheroes aren't the problem, it's making people care about them. We as fans, I feel, are kinda to blame for some of this. Some of us do nothing but complain, which scares off new fans who might be drawn to read Avengers, but who then may go to something like Image or Vertigo. Maybe we should be more positive and tell people more about the good aspects of the industry instead of focusing all of our time on the bad.
i really really want to get into the comic book industry. i have well over 6 epic graphic novels to pitch. im working on the script my self. but im ready to pitch if anywone from the industry is interested?
mock him if you want, but Kirkman is in the best position of anyone in the industry right now. not only does he have complete creative control, but his books are flying off the shelves. he certainly got the last laugh.
I'm not familiar with your work. I would love to see another video displaying your A list work. I am sure it is quite good. I love comics too. Go comics!

The only thing I get excited about anymore is the stuff Warren Ellis does for Avatar.
