@kameshguna Hey there! I tried to dig up the code again some time ago but I don't think I ever found the project files again. I got that remove with a TV tuner card from Pinnacle. The IR receiver was connected to a COM port. Maybe USB IR receivers will work fine too (if the make a virtual COM port). Then, I just wrote the software with C#/.NET. It appears like the class you need to look at is SerialPort. Unfortunately, I do not remember the baud rate/parity/handshake settings. :(
I'm not sure what you can use. I used my a program I made myself and I never really finished it and I'm not really planning on releasing it to the public at the moment.
Well, I had to film it myself. And I updated the description a little bit, so please check it out. So if you still can't believe this is real, I don't really care. ;)

If I recall correctly, the data received with my remote should be around 3 bytes in length. Some remotes encrypts the codes to make it harder.
