  • @twinkle3210 Buttermilk is not the same as normal milk -- You can make a buttermilk substitute like this:

    1. Place a Tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice in a liquid measuring cup.

    2. Add enough milk to bring the liquid up to the one-cup line.

    3. Let stand for five minutes and use in the recipe.

  • Hi Sara, just wanted to thank you for the response first. I have some real problems getting red food colouring and well... they aren't exactly red nor velvet without the magic food colouring... I'm gonna try requesting it at a store and maybe I'll vlog if I get to do this eventually (and if I have the guts).

  • I made this red velvet cupcakes... but an hour later after baking it, it didnt taste velvety. it tasted like brownies! xP thanks though! (i think i put too much coco powder onto it. thats why it tastes like brownies i guess)

  • @TheMrFERD Sorry to hear it didn't go so well - can't use too much cocoa ;) On the plus side, at least they tasted like brownies and not... liver & onions :)

  • @TheMrFERD try a recipe that uses cake flour. I tried making one with all purpose and another with cake flour, the one with APF tasted like "brownies" but the one with CF was more spongy. I also reduced the amount of cocoa powder to 1 tbsp because I wanted it to be commercially red.lol

  • How did i bodge this up, i miss read(tsp)teaspoon & (tbsp)Tablespoon so my mix got a tablespoon of salt, baking soda & baking powder....Grrrrrrrrrr.........­..Being a guy who doesnt do this often something that might help my brothers is use a capital T in Tablespoon so they dont look so similar........... Yes i know i should have double checked & read it properly but im sure you know what men are like...... Anyway im doing your burritos tomorrow

  • Your video is very upbeat it made me giggle alittle. Your cupcakes looks so moist compared to most and that's what I love . Do you maybe suggest using oil instead of butter in most cupcake recipes to get that result?

  • @KeegoNguyen Thank you for your sweet comment! You know, I don't think you can exchange oil and butter on a one-to-one ratio but the two are interchangeable. It would require experimenting with your recipe...

  • @BewareOfHolyCrackers Thanks for checking out the recipe! You can use any type of "flavorless" oil... vegetable, canola, corn, "cooking" oil -- even a light olive oil would be fine; but regular olive oil may impart a taste you won't enjoy...
