Many singers just deteriorate with age, but not this guy! Gordon Lightfoot sounds as good now at 70 as he did when this song was first recorded. Unreal...
timeless, poignant songwriting and performing...got tickets to see him in Nashville at the Ryman in March '10! Wow, great to see such a talented man still going strong! xoxo
id like to see some of the so called singers of toady perform when there 71. Say the likes of Kanya or Pdidy or Timberlake all the kids today that think they are gods gift to the rest of the world. The true gifts to the world are right here Mr Lightfoot . Ever so humble , yet he commands great respect from me. Singers of today take notes from this man if you ever want to become a legend of your time
Thank you for the years
Mr.Lightfoot. Hey that could be a song " Thank you for the Years" :)
At 70 years of age, after suffering a near-fatal illness, and the inevitable deterioration of his voice due to age, he's still a better singer than most people half his age.
@TobyWonKenoby Well said. His voice has declined, but he has dealt with many health challenges and rose above. What else can you expect from a CANADIAN??? I will take Gord's voice over many artists half his age.
This song takes on so much more meaning now, being sung by a man who has obviously experienced much of life, love, and loss, and who has weathered the storms. Thanks for posting this, it is a treasure.
Oh my, time really flys. I forgot I am already 60 and his song are still going strong. I love him and those songs that brought me up.

I can't agree with more.
It's nice to see Gord up close. When I saw him I was way in the back of the auditorim.
