  • that was the worst death scene i have ever seen in my life! The way she just remained standing completely upright then fell and closed her eyes only after she hit the ground (plus her image is completely wrong!)

  • the newer version better

  • Kind of a sad way to day I hate lennie he's fucked up

  • She's the stupid whore who ran off and married Curley.

  • Oh my gosh! That was one of the worse death scenes ever. He just covers her mouth and her neck snaps! Thats so stupid . And why did she moan in the first place? He wasn't exactly messing it.

  • not how i imagined lennie

  • @Tangomelon22 I'm a freshman now and tomorrow is our last day of reading this.....thanks hahah XD

  • Ya I'm reading the novel too I just finished the book couple minutes ago.. so sad :(

  • I remember reading this novel during my Freshman year of High School.

It was pretty depressing when Lenny was shot D:

  • john malkovich is a more convincing lennie

  • Such a good book but it makes me feel so terrible inside :(

  • ugh i have to write an essay on this

  • I cried so much when Lenny got shot :(

  • Jody Foster?..nah it can't be it's in black n white

  • Jody Foster?..nah it can't be it's in black n white

  • @ninjabastard2 betty field.

  • Haha, Lenny chokes a bitch.

  • We're reading this in English right now. Got 8 pages left and then we gonna watch the movie. So exited to know what happens at the end!

  • @PulsatorX we just started it and my cousin told me the ending, ruined the darn story for me!

  • Wait... Did she die of Heart Attack, being choked, or something else???

  • @ungirley2 in tje book it was a broken neck

  • 6:30 for the good part. "George, I Dunnit Again!"

  • its Lennie not Lenny

  • This book was so sad...

  • Even I don't die that quickly when I'm playing Cod -__-

  • If someone gave a plushie (if they had one in the Depression) to Lennie, it could have been alright.

  • @wastedproperty yeah, but Lennie is retarded...

  • PUPPIES!

  • The new curly's wife is hotter

  • This guy is Lon Chaney Jr.,who was the original Wolfman.

  • This book is all about pushing eugenics (the guiding principle behind Nazis) on the public. It's all about the "uncivilized savage killing the white woman". He then has to be "put down" by his brother. This is a propaganda tactic used for many years on many races that eugenicists deem to be inferior. It pushes the idea that retards and mentally ill people should be "put down" for the "greater good". That's some nasty stuff to be pushing on high school students!

  • @ChankaLanka, but Len was not black.

  • @ChankaLanka you are not only the most idiotic person I have met this week, but you have also missed the point of the book. Shame on you. This book isn't about putting down the mentally handicapped. It's about two friends who try and gain the "American Dream". But when Lennie kills Curly's wife, George realizes that Curly wants revenge, and there's no helping Lennie. So like how Candy wanted to be the one to kill his dog, George decides that he must be the one to end Lennie's life, as a friend.

  • @ChankaLanka - well your an idiot. Good luck with life!

  • @ChankaLanka the story has absolutly nothing 2 do with anything tou just said get ur facts right

  • Ugh... I hate this Lennie. I had a better picture in my head of what happened.

  • Sausage curls

  • The guy playing lennie isn't a very great actor.. i don't think anyway

  • haha just read this in school I imagined him having a really big head and a belly

  • Pfft her fault, she just calmed down and Lenny said don't scream and he let her go and what does she do? She fucking screams >_>

  • @JacobLetsPlays yes .. and you wouldnt have scream either if a psychopath garbsy ou ? kinda stupid.

  • @JacobLetsPlays would you calm down when some ones shaking you and you think their gonna kill ya?

  • @MrsBellaRoux I would, but Curley's wife didn't, she seems perfectly calm at 6:29 and if she kept quiet at 6:32 she wouldn't have died.

  • @JacobLetsPlays she was petrified she wanted help she was trying to out smart him

  • if i was her i wouldnt of just yelled like that like a dumbass that was dumb!!!

  • if i were her i would have asked him what he did to the pup then grabbed all three of the pups and run :D

  • Poor lil tootsie! She just wants someone to talk with. The midget guy Curly can't satisfy her in the sack or in a conversation. Little Curly just has that napolean complex! Poor Lenny, nervous and not too bright!

  • @3443bh Poor little Bob Lemke,he just wants you to suck his stubby little prick just one more time!

  • Here's the original tootsie!

  • @3443bh i lol at when she puts her pup bac again and she like, bends him in half and pops him back, it's lol x

  • his name is spelled Lennie not Lenny

  • Why the hell did she start screaming like that?

  • @hipnajit apparently he was pulling her hair a bit and since hes extrenely strong he ended up hurtiing her badly

  • @hipnajit because he wouldn't let go, then he killed her by accident.

  • I don't know. John Malkovich does a better job of Lennie's voice. It's high pitched to make it more childlike. This guy sounds like Fozzie Bear meshed with a six year old. Still, this was a first try, remember, and the book only came out two years before.

  • wtf... i like the newer one, its less.... idk corny, the woman who plays curleys wife in the newer won, does a better job

  • Lennie 's name is spelt wrong.

  • Malkovich>Chaney

  • @A7XShadowzx matt shadows rocks

  • @jacobpowell123 Lol xD Yeah, he's a God, haha

  • I saw this 1939 version and I don't think that she died that quickly; there was a lot more verbal interaction when he was stroking her hair; did the videoer cut out bits and pieces of this scene? It's okay if he did. I was just curious.

    Zamunda Zorchalate

  • eww she ugly da new 1 curlys wife way sexier dis chick doesnt even look worth touching ughhh

  • I like the other guy way more, he made the book made more sense with the mental disability he acted with. He made the ending sadder too. The girl from the new one is WAY better too.

  • that was over reacting

  • i think the newer one is MUCH better. no offense to the people diggin in the oldies. LOL.

  • @ChunkyMonkey0706 Of course you did, it was John freakin' Malkovich.

  • I like the Randy Qaid and Robert Blake version the best. Wish there were some clips of it on here.

  • the scene is quite better done in 1992 version

  • Man this is cheesy

  • @lafincow12 very

  • lennie looks a bit old i think but was good!

im doing of mice and men now. haha gota practise writin essay!

  • im writing an english essay about this book next week!! need help! lol

  • Isnt Curley's wife supposed to be more sexier?

  • @YaserxD sexier, not more sexier

  • @DarkLinkOfHyrule Alrite thx for fixing my gramer i dont think my speeling needs help tho....

  • @YaserxD Said nothing about spelling, but no problem.

  • @YaserxD This movie came out in 1939. There was a lot you couldn't do in 1939.

  • @RedBandMagic02 Thank you for making that point.

  • @YaserxD Yes, she is supposed to be sexier but this movie came out in 1939 and back in those days you weren't allowed to suggest or show too much in regards to sex.

  • im writting an english essay about this now! lol

  • poor guy just wanted some hair XD

  • I preferred the image of this in my mind when i read the book :/

  • @Emzo99 me too.

  • @ChunkyMonkey0706 Probably because John Malkovich does actually have a retardation disablity.

  • @BSWalkthroughs No he doesn't. xD

  • Well i just got done with the book and and I am a freshmen in high school and as i was just starting to understand Curley"s wife Lennie had to go and kill'er by the way i like George especially in the newer movie but it must be hard for George to live with the guilt of killing his best friend i was kinda shocked.

  • i picture him with downs

  • they dont really say the ages in the book but i kinda pictured george to be around 39 and lennie younger

  • poor lennie. i love puppies too. very good movie. The book is better though

  • great great book.

  • no you couldn't be in hhe pictures, you're not a natural...you're a rubbish actor :)

  • If it wasn't for Curley being such a hot head and treating his wife like shit, she'd still be alive and George and Lennie wouldn't be in that kind of trouble.

  • George is mad that tootsie wanted to flap the jigglies at Lenny. Lenny got nervous and killed her. Ooops, no do-da with the tootsie.

  • Rofl at 6:16

  • I'd say that Curly should have spent more time at the Y and keeping tootsie happy! Stronger to back up his mouth!

  • I'd say that Curly should have spent more time at the Y and keeping tootsie happy!

  • god... acting was so terrible back then.

  • Tootsie's got some decent perky waps, just like a pair of on the vine be-bop bazingas with a toucan! Very nice for sharing this masterpiece of cinematography.

  • @3443bh Not any more she doesn't.

  • this guy doesn't play the "mentally retarded/autistic" role as lenny is in the book. And curly's wife is a whore. Remember the "glove full of vaseline"? first time i ROFL'D reading a book. pretty good considering it was written 100 years ago. Steinbeck was way ahead of his time.

  • This version makes Lennie seem more like Rainman compared to "I am Sam".

  • After reading the book i always imagined Lenny to be bigger than the actors who played him in this and the newer version.

  • john malkovich plays lennie much better and he is hot :P

  • the irony is curlies wife wanted to be in movies =)

  • The new version Lenny is way better.

  • i like the new version lennie alot better

  • if only curley wife kneed lenny in the ballsac she would still be alive

  • wow in thee book they madee it seem like he was superr fatt!

  • @stupastara No.

    Not at all.

  • hahahaaha omg old acting, worse acting ever of Lenny soooo bad.

  • This is liek a fucking creepy ass lennie

  • I just finished the book

and i still get suppressed by seeing this scene

  • 6:21. yeah, cause thats a perfectly reasonable reaction to your hair getting messed up.

  • @Mattm1986

It wasn't just her hair getting messed up.

He was roughing her hair up, and she wanted him to stop, him being Lennie, just pet her hair harder, and harder, then she got nervous and started squirming because he wouldn't let go.

He grabbed her from her hair and lifted her off the ground.

    I think that's a perfectly reasonable reaction.

  • @Mattm1986 Wait. Never mind. This version is overdramatized.

It's different in the remake and the book.

  • Curlys wife pisses me off...books have to end and all...but god damn this was a good book.

  • She didnt have to yell she could have just said please I'm not saying she deserved it but she shouldnt have yelled

  • Many a rabbit were happy this day!

"I don't want that crazy, freakishly strong son of a bitch tending me!"

Remember the cartoon version of Lennie and George in the old Bugs Bunny cartoons?

    It's funny, because-you know-Bugs was a rabbit.

I bet Lennie was just dying to tend to him!!!

  • She's hot

  • "George says I ain't to talk too no floozies."

  • whats pretty sick is there is no copyright for music and movies after 50 years XD , so sick i just found out LOOL

  • The Abomitable Snowman sounds wayyy dumber than this Lenny guy...

  • this one is better than the newer one, i think

  • It is better. Although, for a remake, they did a good job on the new one. Usually when thery remake a classic movie, they butcher it.

  • I think the actor who plays Lennie does a terrific job, but I'm a little confused as to why Curley's wife suddenly yells at Lennie when she was calm a couple of seconds before. I think that little part should have been slightly longer and it would've been perfect.

  • Yeah, they did a better job with that scene in the 1992 version.

  • i didnt know this story was so old

lenny is kinda different in the new version

  • they made lennie more retarted

  • @koreyknockout retarded*

  • @koreyknockout thats actually how he is supposed to be

  • @koreyknockout but at least Lennie can spell retarded correctly

  • @Th3MagicRat of course he could because back then people knew what retard meant O.o

this is the internet who cares about spelling

  • poor lenny ..that bitch made the man panic and kill her crazy ass unintentionally

  • I LOVE Lon Chaney Jr.! That guy was amzing! I mean I think the other adaption with John Malkovich is also phenominal, but it's cool to see this guy in something before he became a horror icon. John is a great actor but in some movies it seems he just wants us to hear him rather than show as much emotion (although when he shows emotion he REALLY does). Lon was always great at being sympathetic though. Thanks a million for posting this. Classics are hard to find today.

  • this version is better than John Malkovich's

  • this was good for the ppl in 1930s but for ppl in the 21 century it sucks. the john malkovich's one had better graphics, better characters, better music. the music increased the suspense and drama. the remake was wayyyyy better than the original.

  • i thought it was pretty good acting except for the part where lennie stroked her hair. it was just unnatural, the way she was calm and then angry.

  • in the 1992 version its a newer generation of actors trying 2 b lik peopl of the 1930's, but here the actors can just act, speak, and dress the way they had normaly (except 4 lennie) so it was much mor acurate to the setting of the story and characters

  • I actually like this Lenny better than John Malkovich's portrayal. This one makes him seem like an innocent stupid like the book, the other movie makes him look like "duh deee duh doohh" stupid.

  • I agree, I may be reading the book at present myself, however, you are right, I like this portrayal of Lenny very much :).

  • in the book, isnt curley's wife supposed to have straight hair?

  • she has curly hair

  • no it describes her with sausage curls.

  • No, she has 'sausage like' curls

  • Ow wow....

    just... wow....

  • Malkovich film made me cry and led me to read the splendid Steinbeck's book, somehow this film didn't surprised me. Maybe I'm too much biased, but I feel both characters are overacting and climax scene happens too quick. The hand's close up is great, though. Sorry, my opinion still... (B-p).

  • that' understandable. I watch many older films...the overacting does happen, but it's more of a method sometimes. But if you would have watched this film first, you'd like it better. As I do. Lon Chaney Jr.'s Lenny became one of the most famous characters in film history--many bugs bunny cartoons parodied this Lenny. I think most of the roles were well cast. Both films are classic, though.

  • Thanks "dedbusted", such a kind reply to my comment which was probably not a fair appreaciation of that film since I didn't watched it all made me feel embarassed after your cool words: Lon CHANEY Jr is the great character of Larry TALBOT in one of my favourite films ever, "The Wolf Man" (1941)!!! You're right, I shouldn't judge actors of yesterday with personal eyes in the present cultural experience nor comparing to Malkovich or close to my perspective. Muchos saludos desde México (B-p)

  • m getting this movie. wat a classic

  • Lon Chaney Jr should have got an oscar for his amazing performance.

  • Indeed he should have.

  • Unfortunately, "Of Mice and Men" was overshadowed that year by "Gone with the Wind", "Wizard of Oz," and "Stagecoach." 1939--a great year for movies, huh?

  • Indeed it was. Another of my favorite movies was made that year, "Son of Frankenstein".

  • What a superb actress Betty Field was! She was said never to repeat a characterisation.Just look at her Kay in Blues in the Night and her Daisy in The Great Gatsby.

  • thank you

  • thanks for the upload :D
