that was the worst death scene i have ever seen in my life! The way she just remained standing completely upright then fell and closed her eyes only after she hit the ground (plus her image is completely wrong!)
Oh my gosh! That was one of the worse death scenes ever. He just covers her mouth and her neck snaps! Thats so stupid . And why did she moan in the first place? He wasn't exactly messing it.
This book is all about pushing eugenics (the guiding principle behind Nazis) on the public. It's all about the "uncivilized savage killing the white woman". He then has to be "put down" by his brother. This is a propaganda tactic used for many years on many races that eugenicists deem to be inferior. It pushes the idea that retards and mentally ill people should be "put down" for the "greater good". That's some nasty stuff to be pushing on high school students!
@ChankaLanka you are not only the most idiotic person I have met this week, but you have also missed the point of the book. Shame on you. This book isn't about putting down the mentally handicapped. It's about two friends who try and gain the "American Dream". But when Lennie kills Curly's wife, George realizes that Curly wants revenge, and there's no helping Lennie. So like how Candy wanted to be the one to kill his dog, George decides that he must be the one to end Lennie's life, as a friend.
Poor lil tootsie! She just wants someone to talk with. The midget guy Curly can't satisfy her in the sack or in a conversation. Little Curly just has that napolean complex! Poor Lenny, nervous and not too bright!
I don't know. John Malkovich does a better job of Lennie's voice. It's high pitched to make it more childlike. This guy sounds like Fozzie Bear meshed with a six year old. Still, this was a first try, remember, and the book only came out two years before.
I saw this 1939 version and I don't think that she died that quickly; there was a lot more verbal interaction when he was stroking her hair; did the videoer cut out bits and pieces of this scene? It's okay if he did. I was just curious.
I like the other guy way more, he made the book made more sense with the mental disability he acted with. He made the ending sadder too. The girl from the new one is WAY better too.
@YaserxD Yes, she is supposed to be sexier but this movie came out in 1939 and back in those days you weren't allowed to suggest or show too much in regards to sex.
Well i just got done with the book and and I am a freshmen in high school and as i was just starting to understand Curley"s wife Lennie had to go and kill'er by the way i like George especially in the newer movie but it must be hard for George to live with the guilt of killing his best friend i was kinda shocked.
If it wasn't for Curley being such a hot head and treating his wife like shit, she'd still be alive and George and Lennie wouldn't be in that kind of trouble.
Tootsie's got some decent perky waps, just like a pair of on the vine be-bop bazingas with a toucan! Very nice for sharing this masterpiece of cinematography.
this guy doesn't play the "mentally retarded/autistic" role as lenny is in the book. And curly's wife is a whore. Remember the "glove full of vaseline"? first time i ROFL'D reading a book. pretty good considering it was written 100 years ago. Steinbeck was way ahead of his time.
He was roughing her hair up, and she wanted him to stop, him being Lennie, just pet her hair harder, and harder, then she got nervous and started squirming because he wouldn't let go.
He grabbed her from her hair and lifted her off the ground.
I think the actor who plays Lennie does a terrific job, but I'm a little confused as to why Curley's wife suddenly yells at Lennie when she was calm a couple of seconds before. I think that little part should have been slightly longer and it would've been perfect.
I LOVE Lon Chaney Jr.! That guy was amzing! I mean I think the other adaption with John Malkovich is also phenominal, but it's cool to see this guy in something before he became a horror icon.
