  • Would you mind putting up a list of games/tv shows/Etc that you quoted? I only recognized a small few and I'd like to consider myself a space/sci-fi fan :P

  • @HeroSwe I'd like more people to have a go at it before I post the list of references first. But it will be posted in the description eventually.

  • Wait, you have had this game engine since 2006 and have not made a game with it or at least sold it to a dev to make one? Why punish humanity in such a way??!

  • @bobfrapples21 What's worse is that the creators of sci-fi series like Battlestar Galactica and Babylon 5 haven't taken notice of how well-suited this game engine and the development team would be to making very good licensed games for those series.

  • The first nexus is in my top 3 space game, exellent tactical space game. I cannot wait for the sequel!

  • Uploaded in 2006... really?

  • @KerenskyLI Is there a problem?

  • FUCK i hope Nexus2 becomes a reality, the first one was the best space based game i ever played, and will stay #1 if this one dos not arrive

  • @MrYojimbo84 I'm glad you're that enthusiastic. Hopefully you can contribute to the project as well.

  • @Mazryonh hope i have the opertunity

  • @MrYojimbo84 Then you better hurry. The funding drive ends very soon.

  • world need this game

  • @RavenRom Please spread this trailer and the development website link to the Russian-speaking fans so they can reap the benefits of what looks to become the next great thing in space-based games.

  • The 1st Nexus was absolutely incredible, a great game and revolution for its time!! Available on Steam now I hear for anyone thats interested, I've pledged my support to the development of the new game. It will be well worth the money, I encourage any others out there with a interest to do the same. you won't regret it!!

  • @Colombus124 Thank you very much for your support. The genre of space-based RTS games is sadly depleted right now, but this game could get it back on its feet.

  • I can fap to this...

  • @gamemakerjunior Maybe you'd like to try guessing the sci-fi references in the new annotations instead?

  • The difference is that if you go to great length to try and make something realistic while leaving out a blatan issue like this, is seems half baked. It'd be like CoD4 having quentin tarantino-esque fight scene right dab in the middle of it for no reason, with comical levels of blood. It'd throw off the rest of it, but it wouldn't seem so bad in say Postal 3.

Side note, did this project die? The first nexus sucked, but this looks interesting.

  • @GADefence It seems it can never be said enough times. Audiences have gotten used to sound in space for fictional works for a very long time now, ever since the first Star Wars movie in 1977. Some franchises like Babylon 5 and the newer Battlestar Galactica have (somewhat) incorporated Newtonian physics, but even they did not have silence in space.

You can always play Orbiter or watch 2001: A Space Odyssey if you want that.

The funding drive for this game is in the description.

  • Sound in space?

  • @nexreon We've been like this ever since 1977, the first Star Wars movie.

  • @nexreon it would be boring without sound, but if you want it to be real, then mute button will help you

  • dradis contact; inbound missile; its radiological ; Ka-Boom

  • @rrodgrz99 Be sure to check out the BSG mods for this game, and to support the sequel at the games-plant website!

  • dude this looks awesome

  • @LilMSA0123 Awesome enough to support at the games-plant site?

  • I miss my angelwing! :p

  • I hope they try another way of funding this. Atm they're after another 300k euros in pledges in order to fund development. Says 42 days left and only at 100k. I hope they have another plan to get it going :3

  • @Hlieyto An interview claimed that they had "backup plans," but please help out as much as you can right now with your own pledge.

  • HOLY SHIT THATS EPIC. to bad the insane detail would kill my pc

  • @rainar777 As you can see in the vid, the renders were made in 2005. I'm sure if your PC is relatively modern, it can handle awesomeness of this magnitude.

  • @Mazryonh thats pretty awesome news.... i REEEAAALLLLLLLLYYYYYY hope this game comes out

  • @rainar777 Please got to the games-plant website and donate some cash to help this game along. Even 5 Euros will help, and will get you listed as a contributor in the game credits. The more cash you donate, the more rewards you reap.

  • if you want this game to come out plz they need support of 400.000 EURO to complete this game they already got euro 100.000 but if they dont get thad in 52 days, 1 hour, 48 minutes (7 feb/2012) the game will be scraped so plz support this game at: search google nexus 2 and than go to gamers plant there you can give an amount of euro 5/20/50/250 or 2.500 if you realy want this game. plz support and tnx

  • @xDtooltimerxD Please spread that info to everyone who might be interested in a game that will signal the rebirth of the space combat PC game genre.

  • i wasnt expecting much...after an arrow to the knee and the hallucinations caused by near death, i was like FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF THIS GAME IS EPIC!

  • @Handsx This game could use a meme or two.

  • Please add first person view seeing from inside the ship in captain's/pilot's view so we can listen to the computer sounds, voices, and blasts from inside the ship... No need to control it just for atmospheric enjoyment after issuing orders and switching to inside ship view to watch and feel like you're inside the ship. I BEG YOU!!! It's my dying wish... Thank you.

  • @wakkaboom1987 That might be nice, but that would also be a lot of trouble to animate and voice. If you've seen vids of Star Trek: Bridge Commander, imagine how much time and money went into animating and voicing each bridge crew member for each and every ingame situation.

  • if everyone reading this donated 10euros, we could end the fundraiser today

  • @crimsonspade74 Inspired by the recent Wikipedia fundraising banner ad, were you?

  • i love the sound effect at 2:34

  • Nerdgasim

  • Lavish visuals, deep, tactically-focused gameplay, mighty dreadnoughts and swarms of fighters clashing in huge fleet engagements...

this game needs to be made.

  • @cronmenatil Please go to the fundraising page in the description to help out with this regrettable situation.

  • Meh, it raised 18k in 30days, sorry but this is not happening. Unless some huge investor comes in.

  • @Kvokki Now it's 80k Euros, but it could always use your help.

  • You guys do realize there is no sound in space, right?

  • @CubeRootOowin No one cares. We've been like this ever since the first Star Wars movie in 1977.

  • @Mazryonh Sorry. I actually didn't think of that.

    *facepalm*

  • @Mazryonh With the exception of Firefly. I wish I had the $10 of Steam for Nexus 1...

  • @CubeRootOowin If you want realism just click the mute button. Watch it again and see which you prefer.

  • @CaneMcKeyton I prefer with music/no sound in space.

But anyway, I should probably add that if the sound is based

on the inside of the ship then it would make sense.

  • @CubeRootOowin You can always mute :)

  • I saw it on gamesplant, and I immediately had to think of you. You already picked up the scoop. Nice job!

  • @dirtbag007 This vid's been here since 2006, but Nexus: TJI is finally getting a chance to shine. Let's not let another Hungarian gem in the genre of space combat go to waste.

If this succeeds, maybe we'll see another entry in the Haegemonia series? Or even a proper Imperium Galactica 3?

  • @Mazryonh I know that this video has been around since ages. And a Haegemonia 2 or IG3 would really be awesome! By the way, did you try out the newest version of Haegemonia Vector Prime? It's got many nifty features, never before-seen in Haeg.

  • @dirtbag007 Yes, I'll try out your mod when I get my copy of Haegemonia: The Solon Heritage back.

  • @Mazryonh nice! You can check out my profile if you'd wish to see a trailer!

  • So, It's Like the X series, Time a freakin' million? Cool.

  • @Haloguydev The X series is more about letting people do what they want in a big universe. Nexus: TJI is more about tactical control of starships rather than about making money in a big universe.

That said, if the X series let you control a group of capital ships like you can in Nexus: TJI, it'd be that much better.

  • If i 100% KNEW this was not a scan you could have £20 thats the best i could do anywhos considering I would be paying £25-£40 for the game

  • @qepilionp Go to the game funding website mentioned in the description and judge for yourself.

  • DirectX 11 can make this game shine.

  • @0XiDiZE You can say that again. A lot of people act like their consoles will be "all they ever need," when in fact they're running on hardware limited to DX 9.

  • @Mazryonh yea dude but a good pcs are expensive and thats why a lot of people buy consoles cuz they will LAST for like 5 years (i mean games will come on it)while your pc can be outdated in a year or 2 so you have to keep upgrading so your can play the latest games while on consoles your will still get decent looking game that look better on pc

  • @thepspdaxter PCs are only hard to build and maintain if you don't know what you're doing. And I don't know about you, but have you heard about all the technical problems with the Xboxs and PS3s that people have continually given their parent companies grief about?

  • @Mazryonh well maybe thats the reason i dont like gaming on the pc cuz its to much work . i wanted to get a video card but their are so many card that i just get confused and give up.

  • @Mazryonh i don't NEED to update the whole thing just the video card manly which is like a 100 bucks (well i don't know much about them so) and my pc was like around 500 -600 bucks and the processor is dual core and battlefield 3 needs a quad-core. im not good with computers so i could be just saying things i don't even know about but i just MAINLY need to upgrade the video card which is a 100 bucks and the main reason for me buying a consoles was to play the exclusive games

  • @thepspdaxter There's tonnes of information on the web on how to find the right PC components for you at a good price. Find a good forum and ask; you're bound to find good advice or deals there.

  • @thepspdaxter

Strange how hardware even older than current consoles can run close to 100% of all pc games. Could it be that most games these days are anyway aimed at consoles, and so pc hardware even way older than those consoles is more than enough ...

    ... Think about it ;-)

  • @Traumglanz well i agree with you but i was saying that even tho pc are alot better, consoles are cheaper in a way because a decent video card that will play games will cost you like 80-150 dollars on top of the pc you bought andlike playing battle field 3 on pc will be expensive.on ps3 i can play it will all other exclusives and consoles will last you like 5-6 years i just bought a pc 2 years ago and i already need to upgrade it. well i don't hate pc gaming just not my type of thing

  • @thepspdaxter

Strangely my gaming rig cost overall just 300 bucks. Even more strange is the fact that the system I used before would be perfectly well with current pc games, and that was from 2007 . Maybe not as smooth as the current at WQXGA (twice as much as current consoles), but still more powerful than a ps3, which was released in 2007 with a 599€ price tag in Europe.

Furthermore console titles tend to be more expensive than their pc counterparts and I really wonder why you NEED to update

  • I just supported the team with 50 bucks! The great thing is that if the project gets going, I get NEXUS 2 for 50 euros (well worth the full game price in my opinion), but if the project doesn't deliver, I don't loose a single cent!

GOOD LUCK TO THE DEVELOPERS! As for the community, stop beeing loosers-haters and support this great project (even if it's only 5 bucks!!!). You won't regret it!

  • Take a look at my Chanel for the HD version of this game aswell as Links for how you can make Nexus 2 a reality and Development faster. The announcement is great news :)

  • Heard Nexus 2 was just announced!!

    YAH!!

  • About this brand new news of a real, serious sequel to Nexus: TJI.. I'd like to ask two things, please. Number one: Is this project being legally developed via its copryright/etc, or is this a fan work? Secondly (and very importantly), will the original game experience be preserved, or is it coming with a bunch of "cool new features" that just ruin what we felt from the first game? I'm just a player of Nexus, but I'd like to think much of the original style is explicitly maintained / preserved.

  • @ScozzySkytower If you want that kind of confirmation, you should go to Most Wanted Entertainment's website and e-mail your questions to them.

  • If they ever make a Nexus 2 they should add simulated zero G and gravity to the game. You lose engine and you start crash into planets or you have fighters gaining speed to go into orbit around the capitol ship to save energy or similar.

Gravity based tractor beam weapons, space junk shielding and so on.

Best game so far bringing actual zero G into games is Shattered Horizon (PC).

  • @Lobos222 The fact that ships in the original game still showed engine thrust despite having reached their maximal combat velocity was an acceptable break from reality, since without that most of us earth-bound creatures wouldn't realise that the ship is still moving. And you almost always fight pretty far from planets so crashing into them would take far too long.

  • It's just me or I heard this ambient music somewhere? (Propably Freelancer)

  • @Mierzei No, the first half of the trailer uses edited music from the first Nexus: TJI game. The latter half is an edited part from a Linkin Park song called "Session."

  • company like THC should buy the engine and make a Warhammer 40k Battle Fleet Gothic game

  • @crimsonspade74 Did you know there's a Battlefleet Gothic mod in progress for the original game on the moddb website? It's unlikely that they'll be able to emulate things like ramming, Eldar "star-sailing," or certain Tyranid ship attack forms, but the other aspects of the tabletop game look very doable.

Regardless, Games Workshop and the Nexus 2 devs really need to get together and talk about making a great BFG PC game!

  • @Mazryonh Thank you, it is good to know. Still, it is a waste of an engine if no game are to be made on it. Not even games, this engine would looked great if it was employed for CGI for SciFi channel and the likes.

  • @crimsonspade74 Hmmm, yes! The Black Sun engine... going far beyond what CCP has done with EVE Online, Nexus really was given the best technology for a game. And this game was released over 6 years ago - think about it!

  • @ScozzySkytower EvE online was released over 8 years ago.

I'm not starting a fan war, I'm just levelling the playing field here.

    Looking forward to this :)

  • the game as a hole was awesome though and will probably play it though again in a few months its one of the few games i bought after borrowing it off one of my mates, and would defiantly buy nexus 2 for £25 - £35 i would probably even go to £40 if they made it long enough and good enough, the other once in the game kind of genera would be home world and home world 2 never only ever borrow cataclysmic didn't really like it another one i would like to see a squeal to.

  • @qepilionp Please go to the games-plant website so you can pledge some money towards Nexus 2's development. Pledge enough and you'll get a copy of the finished game (along with other bonuses).

The original Nexus is available for paid download on the Steam service too.

  • I was kinda disappointing by the end of nexus probably because i had built up too much of an expectation because i played nexus over 2 or 3 years ago and never completed it because i found the second to last mission to be too hard went back and completed it today and i was let down by the last mission and the ending they should have made a longer ending cut scene and scraped the last mission and left it somewhat to your imagination while still giving answers.

  • @qepilionp Yep, but now the sequel will help to answer those loose threads. Go to the games-plant website and pledge some money to help with Nexus 2's development.

  • You CAN help personally too. Now they are collecting preorders and "helping money". Check it out! :) we kinda won. I cant send here links, so check on Google or write me a letter!

    YES

  • @RiaRuss We still need to get the goal of 400.000 euros. If not then they stop the project.

  • @GamerSpaceHD I know. you said you wish you could xD So I thought I could tell it. And still, it's a good thing :)

  • Nice. If only they could have found the funding this would have been epic.

  • google Nexus 2 and gamesplant for awesum news

  • Realistic sound in space. Groovy.

  • @eloyard Tell that to Lucas. Or turn down the sound while playing.

  • @unqltango

Now hold on, it's like if they made a submarine movie and had the submarines fighting in brightly illuminated water, when they are supposed to be... let's say 400 meters down. Most people would think, "Well, wait, isn't the bottom of the ocean kinda dark?" would you say "If you want a dark ocean just turn off your monitor!"

In Hunt for Red October they went for a compromise, it's just light enough to see what's going on, but still quite dark.

  • @unqltango

Look up the new BSG and how they approached sound in space. Not perfect silence, but enough of it is muffled to remind you, "Hey, sound doesn't really travel well in vacuum."

Not to say that people should blatantly rip off BSG... but still, it's a good example.

  • @PTNLemay Let me ask you then this way: would you play a game without sound? Or in complete darkness? These are games, not simulators. In the aforementioned _movies_ you have those elements only for minutes, not for hours as it would be in the game. Most players would be annoyed after a while.

  • AAAAAAAAAAWWWW YEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!!! Nexus 2 is coming !!!!!!!!!

  • I'd prefer Homeworld 3.

  • @cherrypowered Good luck getting Relic Entertainment to do that while they're riding the gravy train of the Dawn of War franchise.

  • They announced it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • games-plant. com / nexus2 /

  • this news is on a hungarian site too .gamestar.hu/nexus-2-fonixkent-tamad-fel-poraibol.html

  • Everyone, Nexus 2 was just announced!!

  • @Rattlepiece Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. Let's hold off on the party until we get better confirmation.

  • @Mazryonh It's confirmed by the developers themselves.

  • @Rattlepiece If so, why hasn't it appeared on more gaming publication websites or the developer's own website? I'd like to fund the game using Gameplant myself, but after the Madoff scandal we all have to be more careful with our money.

  • @Mazryonh The money goes to the developers themselves and it has been confirmed by the developers. It was on a Swedish gaming publication site earlier today, that's where I noticed it first. It's spreading.

  • @Mazryonh Search in google "Nexus 2 Announced" and check the bluenews link.

  • @Rattlepiece So they will only make the game if they get 400k.. seems to me like they won't go past 50k

  • @Kvokki Who knows.

  • If you miss nexus check the upcoming Sword of the stars 2, nothing can replace nexus, but it is at least something ...

  • Finally there's a way to get this game made, check out and spread the word!!!!

Check out the crowd funding site Games-Plant

  • Is there any other game with such epic graphics (and a space game)? I want to play this so badly :(

  • @Kvokki Not currently, no. That's why you should sign the petition in the signature. You should also check out the various excellent mods for the original game on the moddb website. The original game itself is available on Steam for paid download at a pittance.

  • @Kvokki Actually yes... I just found one that was released on Steam today called "Space Pirates And Zombies" or SPAZ for short. There is also a demo so you can try it out, but oh my god that game is amazing fun!! Well worth checking out and WELL worth the £9.99!

  • @jkaplonek That's not even close... guh.

  • The most perfect space game ever would be a cross between this and X3:TC. I mean... basically an empire/combat free-roam space game, with the same amazing interface, ship upgrades, and everything that Nexus has in it.

I'm gonna keep dreaming *sigh* :(

  • @jkaplonek I've seen the Angelwing Cruiser put into the X3 games (Reunion and Terran Conflict) as a mod. But really, Egosoft should look into a good command interface for fleet-based combat, and one like Nexus: TJI's would be a great to incorporate into their games.

  • @jkaplonek Or perhabs some kind of Nexus MMO. If they would announce thad, I would like "OMFG me gusta" :'DDDDD

  • Nexus: TJI is a good game but sad the owner of HDi does cancelled the Project of Nexus2...

And GAY the key cannot be registered under steam.

  • I would give one of my kidneys for this game to come out...

  • five years say its dead, yet again duke nukem has returned, still, dont want to play this when im 30

  • love this tech demo. Still have the original video file I was asked to leak

  • @Sargoth85 Good to see you here. I remember seeing this on the gametrailers website and I knew it had to reach a wider audience. Who asked you do to that, anyhow?

    LONG LIVE NEXUS: TJI!

  • @Mazryonh someone over at HDi who wanted to create hype about it.

  • @Sargoth85 Well, as you can see by the signatures on the petition and the excellent ongoing mods for the original game, the hype is already there. The fans (myself included) greatly enjoyed N:TJI1 and are waiting for news that Nexus 2 is on the way. The ball's in HDi's/Mithis' court now, or whomever their successors are. When/if they're ready, we'll be here to offer our full support.

  • @Mazryonh they hoped ofcourse to create hype in 2005 - 06. It got little attention... HDi has since been reduced to a local distributer/mobile games. What was left of Mithis closed down when Eidos became the property of Square Enix.

  • @Sargoth85 Well, would you know who happens to own the Nexus IP now? Digital Reality for some reason has obliterated all traces of Imperium Galactica or Haegemonia (the parent franchises of Nexus) from their website for instance.

Half-Life 2, Alice: Madness Returns, Duke Nukem Forever . . . someday Nexus 2 shall join them in a promised return. So as long as Nexus 2 doesn't feature such Squeenix nonsense such as a hero slicing Vardrag ships in half with a Buster Sword, it'll be great.

  • @Mazryonh HDI sayd the ip lay at the Hungarian Court of Commerce. While someone later said they own the IP. But I think perhaps that the rights are with square enix now

  • @Mazryonh most of the hardcore fans hang around here - arparso.de/nexus/forum

  • DO WANT NAOW

  • awesome game

  • Man, each time I see this video, I'm truly sad that this game will never be realized. It would be so huge, Nexus 1 was awesome.

One thing I loved in nexus 1 and in this vid is the fact that when the spaceship are destroyed, they don't just "explode"" and vanish. There are multiples explosions, you can actually feel the ship being torn apart. And then, a huge explosion, the ship died in a blow of light, taking away some of its opponent in it's last glorious act.

  • woah impressive! are they developing this game right now i would buy that game on the first day it comes out :) but i think i gonna test the first part too :D

  • i...i need this gmae right FRAKING NOW!!!!!

  • @p0wer5000 In the meantime, there is an excellent Battlestar Galactica mod for the original Nexus: The Jupiter Incident. Head on over to moddb DOT com to find it.

  • @Mazryonh haha i love moddb but i dont have the first 1 T.T

  • @p0wer5000 Go buy it on Steam, then. It's available for paid download for a pittance over there.

  • @Mazryonh haha i may when i get some money i just bout terraria (EPIC) and my dad hates when i buy stuff within like 2-3 weeks of eachtorther he says its wasteing money so ya....

  • @VClaw15 hold up a beachball and throw an object against is. The ball deformes just like a space shield would, that is what i said in my other comment

  • @czorio4 Well, that would depend on how resistant the barrier is to deformation. Soap bubbles in real life have no resistance to it; you can poke a moist needle or knife into one and not be stopped. If it's like a balloon, then the skin could squish a bit before giving way to a physical projectile (which wouldn't impede it). There is another way, which is to reinforce the shield generator so that hitting the shield is more likely to move the whole ship than tear the generator out.

  • @Mazryonh i think some sort of anti-magnet could be seen as a shield. it repels any form of unwanted objects away from the generator.

but having to reinforce the surrounding hull of the generator would be inpractical. if you equip a ship with enough high velocity guns, the generator will start damaging the ship, even if it its reinforced due to metalfatigue (?). and since a shield is meant to prevent damage, a damaging damage-preventer is a deadly contradiction.

  • @Mazryonh that has a form of Logic in it. But i guess the "shield bubble" is like a beach ball. It deformes rather than remains solid.

  • there is a weak point on square shields though. it has to do with the distance between shield and emitter, since the distance in the corners of the shield is greater than that to the middle of a surface, and the energy value would decrease, this would mean that the shield strength in the corners would be less (spherical shield dont have this) and this could become so bad that holes could start to form at those corners, leaving weak spots, its a nice idea, but its theoretical unwise to use.

  • @czorio4 I've heard over odd analyses of shields, such as "if they repel physical impacts, hitting them too hard with a physical impact can cause the generator to fling itself free of the ship, thanks to Newton's Laws." Of course, that's moot if you can manipulate mass (such as in Mass Effect).

  • @czorio4 say what? could you say that in english....

  • I may weep

  • what is the last part of nexus this one or there is newer?

  • screw that i want a freelancer 2

  • ill admit, i was very impressed with the vanilla Nexus:TJI, found it in a bargin bin about 9 weeks ago, $10 ... i still havnt finished it!

i thought the characters were very well developed and as far as computer games go from the last 10 years, its a work of fucking art the amount of detail is astonishing even on the smallest scales ... and it is actually a difficult game, unlike most things you can buy these days.

  • We should make a mod for Nexus TJI that makes it like this more detail and such.

Also I don't know why but in some games including nexus at some point the ships are considered abandon in my opinion this shouldn't happen. If it was a major realistic everything that is not truly disabled should be firing even while the ship is exploding and if the crew go to the lifepods the ship should turn to automatic firing mode. Also i like the auto-gun in this because in nexus the ships fire once every min.

  • @GamesinMovies72 Dude, the slow-firing weapons are to ensure that the combat is also slow. You can make them fire faster by devoting more support energy to weaponry, but the slowness ensures that you always have a chance to turn things around. If your ships are getting pounded, you can: turn on your ECM/devote more power to shields/activate your combat engines and devote more power to the engines, then dodge and get out of there. The slower combat is what makes this game epic.

  • @Mazryonh

True, didn't think about it that way but yes slow weapons allow you more chance to change the fight and make decisions not to mention it makes it more graphics card friendly.

And yes it is a shame they canceled nexus 2 :( it was most likely going to be twenty times more awesome!

It had graphics easily rivaling eve online with the best storyline ever.

Why are the best games always forgotten? Nexus plus original Homeworld had like the best graphics of their time...

  • @GamesinMovies72 Please sign the petition if you want to help Nexus 2 come out. And if you want to help unsung games get more press, tell everyone who might like those games about them. Tell your friends to stay away from campy, no-brainer stuff that is mainly for making money and not about breaking new ground or to make us think.

  • Wow! Wow! Wow!

Why the hell has this beauty been cancelled? Why?

Will there ever be a sequel for Nexus - The Jupiter Incident? The fucking best SciFi-Tactic-Space-Battle-Simulation of all times?

  • Most epic space battles I have ever seen in a game, I hope one day this or Homeworld 3 will come out.

  • @Hamandaxe

There is much truth in those words.

I also had no idea Nexus 2 was being made and that is was canceled!
