Hi, i am travelling to Japan and upon arrival at Narita airport will head straight down to Kyoto. Whats the most cost effective way? considering buying Seishun Juhachi Kippu. please tips on getting around etc. ty
help me im travelling there april 01 2010 is there anyone travel with the same date with me? i need assistance if i arrive there but my mom and my step dad gonna pick up me.
The airport limo buses cost around 3000yen, They are the best option if one stops at your hotel. If not, the trains are very easy to use. JR's Nex costs 3500yen but includes a 2000yen suica card, it stops at tokyo, shinuya, shinjuku or yokohama. You can also use the Keisei Skyliner, at 2000yen takes you to ueno or nippori. If using the trains go to the travel centers in the station, not in arrivals - they don't sell the cheap tickets!
@maquahuitl I agree. JR Narita Express is usually the best way to go. That could change soon with the new tracks for the Keisei train company. Platforms for JR and Keisei are in the bowels of both terminals. Although a bit more expensive, one is not at the whim of traffic, as are the limousine buses (which ARE very comfy. In off hours, the limousine bus is a nice alternative ( I pop for the NEX green car--since my clients are paying!!!)
When I got the bus from the airport to my hotel in Shinjuku back in August it cost me 3000yen ($30 / £20) to get there. It was worth it because it was so easy and stress-free.
Im curious on how you go to all these places and just video tape em with no problems. Here in the states ive tried to take a picture in the restaurant where im celebrating my b-day and they yelled at me xD
wait, richard, isnt your japanese fluent enough to not need to like, find an english-speaking person? cause like, idk, assuming that your japanese is like, super fluent enough. so i was just like "wait, what? why does he need to find a person who speaks enough english? cant he just speak japanese?"
Can you make a video on how to plan a trip and how to prepare and all the necessities and how to "TRADE MONEY". Im trying to plan a trip there and I have no idea what to do. I live in the US if that helps. also I want to go to Shibuya and stay in a nearby hotel....near the shibuya crossing. Plzz help. Im hoping to go this summer.
Most public restrooms are western style and clean. You will often find squat style toilets in public places as well. Some restrooms in random parks may not be as clean though, just like in North America.
The "super toilets" are more common in hotels, restaurants, and homes. I haven't seen them in "really public" places, but my time spent in Japan is limited. They aren't that complicated, they just have a built in bode and a heated seat. Most toilets in Japan have a big and small flush.
I'd really like to see a video of what Tokyo looks like at night. I've been told that it's really pretty and bright, sorta like Las Vegas in the US, but a lot better.
You should randomly get people to talk to you. Ask the people to try to speak English or something, that would be super cute. Just random shout outs. Hah.
Anything you think might be unusual or strange compared to what your life is like, I think you should enlighten us on. For those who are going to travel to Japan one day, we want to absorb as much as we can so we don't look like total tourists. xD
That's where I flew in when I moved to Japan... I got lost! I'd like to see a how-to for the restaurants where you remove your shoes and kneel on the tatami... I'm still too intimidated to go into one.
i remember watching one of your videos on the different festival foods, but not a lot of festival games. if by any chance you pass by a festival, could you show us some of the festival games they have? i would really appreciate it because we're having a festival at our school in a couple of months, and im lacking some ideas. thaanks a lot ^.^

What do public Japanese restrooms look like? They've gotta be better than the ones here in the states. -shudders-
But they have super-toilets or something in hotel rooms, are they in public restrooms as well?
