i thought the only point of this game was to be realistic, and thats clearly not the case.

Breaking is what ruins the drift.

you can let go of the accelerator if you think you're going too fast (not likely), but basically all you need is to down-shit and gun it through the turn. (pulling hard on the wheel, of course)
