its a good move from obama. Dalai Lama is a good leader and tibet needs its freedom. China is threatening all its neibouring country look like blood sucker but it cannot treaten india now because its stronger now. I hope india, japan, taiwan, philippines, Tibet and Mangolia should always have a close realationship and trade. to be safe from china. china should be democratic country.

It's so sad that the US and China have so much tension between each other. We fought with evil Japanese during WWII together, for God's sakes.
Some Japanese dogs just won't stop bitching about the use of nuclear weapons.
We needed them to counterbalance Soviet Union. But time has changed, and we won't need Japan as much.
I can only hope that China and the US will have a better relationship in the future.

The DL will die soon so Tibet is a dead horse issue. More Hans will move into Tibet and dilute the culture. Assimilation is a recurring sociological phenomenon.
Taiwan will lost longer, may be another 20-30 years. China will never attack Taiwan. Threat without execution applied long enough is going to work well; taiwan is an island very vulnerable with hopelessly exposed energy link. US-China relation will be very rocky but manageble.

democracy will eventually come to china, but atm if china became democratic, civil war would break out and we would turn into a mini europe. Right now we need to control our people and have a free economy, when the right time comes we can turn democratic

@dec041 Ahh, Tiananmen, what a tragic misunderstanding that was. Had Deng not ordered the police to evacuate the students protesting against provincial government corruption, things would have been very different today. The Maoists wouldn't have risen up again and China would be well on its way to becoming a democracy. But yeah, democracy for a vast country like China cannot be done in haste, not until we have a large middle class, a well educated and informed populace and national will.
