A lot of late 70s and early 80s music was produced in studios that used a lot of analogue synthesizers and effects, warm and fat sounding Moogs, Prophet 5's, Jupiter 8's and so on.

Did you notice the change from good to very shit music after about 1986...Digital studios!

Mode, Human League, Kraftwerk all used analogue, hence the amazing sounds.
