@666OrWhat Well said. Ideally worded. I was just thinking that. I didnt actually know this game existed before watching this review just now. Thank you, Fatman. Only problem with this review is its too short.
I love your reviews and your insights into video games. The only thing I would change is the editing - to better display the things you are talking about, and to show more variety. Keep up the great work!

This would have been a much better review if the video gameplay footage was better quality. It honestly looks like duke nukem 64 graphics dumbed down a bit.... even on 480p.
Also... I really tried to watch the whole review, but it's so fricken long! I know you want to speak all about it and get your thoughts out, but it's difficult to even attempt to watch a 15min videogame review.
@kablasoni Do you realise that it takes me 5 seconds to remove your comment and block you, and I don't even need to waste my time reading most of your comment in the first place.
I know this is the internet and most people are incapable of acting like adults, but please, try.
You should get a job reviewing games for a website or something man (If you haven't already), your reviews are seriously better than 90% of the so called 'journalists' out there.
2 things. 1, there is a fan made english patch coming out that rumours have might be made official. Also they highered a pro translator who shafted them. As for the hacking being the best. I disagree. Fallout 3 and NV had better systems that actually felt like you were breaking into a computer. The new Deus Ex also has a good hacking system.
Firstly, it's completely unbelievable. Every computer in the Capitol/Mojave wastes can be 'hacked' by a word puzzle seemingly burned into every OS of the time? Ha!...that's sad.
Secondly, it's genuinely broken and contradicts itself much of the time. Often it will say '0/5 match' yet the actual password will have a letter from the word that SUPPOSEDLY had '0/5' correct characters.
Absolutely one of the greatest in-depth reviewers I have come across - always valid observations and a non-biased standpoint along with gameplay and a scoring system that actually makes sense.
Keep up the stellar work good sir, looking forward to your next review and those after it.
Great review. I was wondering about this game. It managed to completely slip under my radar until after its release, and that doesn't happen often. I'll give it a buy when/if it goes on sale.
I won't lie I was worried about you reviewing newer games as your style fits the older pc games with all the complex systems and unique ideas as you obviously do them justice with a proper well thought out review with a good background. Well you managed to do the same with a modern game as still left me amazed. Fantastic review!
What's with the video quality ASFM? Did your computer have major problems running and recording this, or did you just screw over the rendering somewhere?
This entire game seems like a case of trying to squeeze too much into a single game, perhaps if it was created by a triple A studio it would've been a great game, but it seems like these indie developers just didn't have enough resources to get everything knitted together and polished.
/possibly spoilerish////basically, the werewolves, white dressed women, lizardmen, etc. are explained by saying that there is some powerful psychic force that is creating monsters based on peoples fears for the goal of either wiping out people or stopping them from expanding.
Great review. I'm so glad that unlike other reviewers who review before they've really gotten into the game, you took the time to go in depth. This is the kind of review that really motivates me to buy the game and try it out.
The key phrases I locked onto was "skipped some text" and "no money at start". Maybe you didn't find out about crouching saving energy until the end because you "skipped some text", maybe because you "skipped some text" you didn't work out that if you can hack security doors and people, maybe you can hack cash machines, etc?! Maybe you are a busy chap and prefer voice over and compass pointers? Like Oblivion Vs Morrowind? Many on You Tube, and me, seemed to "get" this game quicker than you.
@HardWarUK Maybe you should lock onto the phrase 'after a few hours'... if I don't understand parts of a game after hours, it's because the game is badly designed.
I don't like to be spoonfed, but that doesn't make it acceptable for a game to be alienating and confusing.
@HardWarUK I also didn't say no money, I said little money, which is true when you factor in how expensive stuff is. Tier 1 things should be cheap so that your basic build takes form early, then specialisation should be expensive. I don't want to lack core skills half way through the game unless I grind.
Also, I think you're ignoring the problems the game has just because you like it, which is something else many on YouTube do. The confusing stuff isn't the game's only crippling issue.
Well, after this review it would seem I'm subbing. Fatman, do you think you'd ever review FO3? Seems like the type of thing you'd despise. Which always makes for great reviews!
I always trust your reviews when looking for a new game to play, if i could choose anyone to review all games im looking at it would be the Antisocial fatman. Thanks for another great upload, cheers.
@antisocialfatman Like in the original Deus Ex, this has a cyber punk feel, meaning katana's and a Japanese feel in the cities with dragon statues and Chinese writing. hence the voice work is a nonesensical Japanese type language, like the Sims, but more serious. My score is 9/10. It weas obvious this would get low scores because it doesn't hold your hand.
@LiamNeesonsDick Well, a patch is already out and another is on the way. But there is not as much wrong with this game as the reviewer says. And most of You Tube video's agree with me not him. Although there is one review that is even worse, demanding all games with the slightest roleplaying needs to look like and play like Oblivion, even if from an indie company with 10 guys....!
@HardWarUK It's not an issue of the game "Holding your hand", it's an issue of convolution. I personally start every single game I play on the absolute hardest difficulty, then if it's "cheap", I turn the difficulty down one notch. I'm a huge fan of difficult games. EYE is actually not terribly difficult, it's just so incredibly convoluted that it's impossible to know what you're doing most of the time. And that is a bad design choice, period.

And you actually felt like you were breaking into a computer using that hacking system?
The feeling of breaking into a computer is waiting for an algorithm to find the correct password.
Not play a broken word puzzle.
LiamNeesonsDick 6 months ago
@LiamNeesonsDick At what point did I say realistic? And what's to say that's not how wasteland computers work?
To me, playing the word game felt much more involved than playing some half arsed JRPG fighting system with a poor UI.
SabreXT 6 months ago
@SabreXT
At what point did I say you said realistic? Oh I never did, okay then.
I never said that isn't how wasteland computers work.
That's what's so inane; it *is* how they work and it defies all logic.
...what does this have to do with JRPGs?
Where did that come from?
