Absolutely beautiful video, a fitting tribute to the sublime RD. I and a friend have just launched a new blog about Robert Donat at 'robert hyphen donat dot com', do come and see us if you like RD's work.
Nice film work. What editing program did you use? When I see Donat smoking in films, it always amazes me because he had a chronic lung disease. I guess he never put two and two together. His cost for being so breathtaking, I wonder?
@giddalti The only time Donat smoked was if it was called for in a film, and then he wouldn't inhale. In real life, he avoided being around smoke as much as possible because of his serious asthma. He really hated smoking because of his health problem.

@TangoMaureen07 The film is Vacation from Marriage but called Perfect Stranger in the UK. It used to be on You Tube but was taken down. Very good film with co star Deborah Kerr whom he chose as his leading lady. She was in a play which he starred in, and they became romantically involved before they did this film in 1945.
And I'm a huge fan of Robert Donat. It's always seemed most unfair to me that he died before I was even born! Very strange indeed to think that he would be 105 now if he were alive.
I am not a Robert Donat fan. (Wish Gable had won for "GWTW"). But your editing of this tribute is absolutely exquisite. And I think now...I must re-discover Donat.
ABsolutely fantastic!!! I agree with Jenny. I can't stop watching it. I love every film Robert Donat was ever in. And he was such an amazing actor & what a leading man!! He made me swoon & dream a little dream still. It's true, no other leading man had such ease with a woman or knew how to touch or kiss a woman. Sighh ... he is missed.
@HoraceOflaherty Oh, is THAT ever true. He was just heart-stopping. EVERY scene with a woman (second meeting w/Rosalind Russell in his surgery in "Citadel"; returning to find Dietrich in "Knight Without Armour" asking if she thought he might not come back; all the scenes with Elissa Landi in "Monte Cristo," and EVERY SCENE with Valerie Hobson in "Tartu!" And on and on. But...your one line says it all, and says it best.
@HoraceOflaherty "Leonore" is just my YouTube handle. However, I'm smiling because no one's ever addressed me as "Leonore" before! She's the title character in Beethoven's opera, "Fidelio." A woman who disguises herself as a young boy to get inside the prison where her husband, Florestan, is being held for having spoken truth to power. Had he been a dramatic tenor, RD would have made a spectacular Florestan!
@LeonoreFlorestan Aah, interesting, fascinating story. Thank you for sharing it with me. My real name is Anthony. It pleases me to think I could make you smile. Best wishes from me to you
I have always loved Robert Donat. thanks for this tribute. What a great actor, beautiful voice, and just gorgeous to look at. Taken from us much too soon.
Thanks! And to answer your other message (and that of julianna625 too) - a vid like this on Ronald Colman is quite possible, since he's another great favorite.
I absolutely adore Robert Donat! What a great tribute; I particularily love him in Goodbye, Mr. Chips. He is such a talented actor, definately one of my favorites.

Robert Doant was an actor of an exquisite combination between manners and manhood in a gentleman. English, as he had to be!!

No man ever kissed any woman in any film like this man does.
