all these fools, try doing 10 events in a row then talk about strap this and that, most of these fools won't even be able to do one rep with this weight, believe me these guys have phenomenal grip strength, murumets can hold a hex dumbell weighing 65 pounds, vertically!! not by the comfy handles, and can do so for more than 2 minutes, they can easily deadlift that weight without straps, but for the sake of excitement and for the audience they allow straps so that they can do more reps.
So what, if he used straps? He felt more comfortable using them because the strongman competitors are allowed to use them in gp competitions around the world..allmost in every competition. I doubt that the weight was the reason that he used the straps.. ;)
10 easy reps, muthafvckin raw, could've done an extra 5 or so reps, but 616 pounds raw(no straps) on an unconventional tube like object from a competition after numerous events is friggin amazing.

this title is fucked up..
1st, this is a POWERLIFTING competition
2nd, he is not RAW he is everything but RAW.
Power suit belt straps...
Malkieth 2 years ago
I can't see power suit any where..he is wearing warm up pants. And belt and straps were legal.. And YES..THIS WAS A STRONGMAN COMPETITION..
topiazz 2 years ago
Sorry looked at it again. FIrst thought his arm warmers were a part of a lifting suit.
And mayby it was a strong man competition but it looks more like powerlifting when they have straps and a big podium....
And straps doesnt make it RAW.
Malkieth 2 years ago
And yes I'm right about the competition because I was competing too..
Maybe not as gym lift raw..but I think his fingers would have held two times that weight.. Well it's raw enough for me!!

he looked huge in this competition, even bigger than always. Do you know his bodyweight?
shybuttcute 3 years ago
I could be wrong, but I herd that it was around 390lbs.
jabeaudry 3 years ago
Well you heard wrong.. I was also competing in this competition and yes it was 280 kg = 620lbs.
topiazz 3 years ago
I was talking about his bodyweight.
jabeaudry 3 years ago
I think his bodyweight was around 165kg.
I think he weighs about the same now..the weight issues are not so reliable in competition info's..
topiazz 3 years ago
far from a max effort, he could do 8-10 with 150 lbs mnore

i imagine its a security matter and not because he necessaruily needs them...he prolly just uses them just incase he needs them
matt5608 4 years ago
..and it's more "natural" way to deadlift when your arms are pointing the same way. The weight is balanced in your back..
