My uncle from Korea gave me a whole bunch of Kimba the white lion English dub DVDs for Christmas when I was 9 and I loved them. But I lost all the DVDs. Do you know where I could find some DVDs?
I use to love the 'Kimba: The white lion' english dub as a kid! I don't like the newer style of the characters, but the animation is much more fluid and the lipsync is so much better. I think I prefer the original, but even so it's great to see such a fantastic story revived and modenised so well (I felt the same with the recent Astro Boy series too)
Also, Disney have filed suit to try to prevent the showing of Tezuka Productions' 1997 Jungle Emperor Leo movie at the 1998 Toronto FantAsia Film Festival so ppl wouldn't know of Kimba for 20 years.

This is much better than that old 60s cartoon I watched 19 episodes of. >_> I only bothered because I found an image of the character and realized it looked a lot like mine. But that old cartoon's just too old for me. I want an English version of this.

Leo reminded me of Aang from Last Airbender at first....his eyes are really big and innocent and his head is kind of big, too..... xD That make sense? I think both Leo and Aang are both really honest, innocent, caring characters. It was a little startling to see the new style Leo at first...I'm sorta getting used to it.

I always had a problem with that, it really bothers me :P Also another little pet peeve is when Leo/Panja jumps his mane goes flying upwards. Lions manes don't really do that... the fur goes up but... yeah, it's tough to explain. And weird. Sorry for the rant but I agreez :D

The subtitles added to this movie were unfairly stolen from Ryuu-Rogue's fansubs and added to this cheap Malaysia bootleg DVD with a fake "seal of authenticity" sticker stuck on it. Show your support to Ryuu-Rogue by downloading their video instead of buying this cheap bootleg crap, either that or buy the authentic Japanese release DVD of this movie.
@Keikayoko Ohh, big deal.. bootleg or not, there are a lot of people (myself included) who'd prefer to just buy the movie instead of wait 5 days for Ryu-Rogue's 1.5 GB video torrent to download. Not to mention the authentic DVD costs $40-70, is region-restricted, and has no english subtitles. Besides, since when were fansubs copyrighted?
All in all, who gives a crap if it's bootleg.. as you can see, it has good quality audio, picture, and perfect subs, not to mention it's cheap.

And the original anime series came out in 1966, and then they made a few more series in 1967, 1989, and then made 2 actual movies, one that came out in 1997 and one in 2009 (this one). This movie's called Jungle Emperor Leo 2009 (or Jungle Taitei 2009: Yuuki ga Mirai o Kaeru). I hope this all makes sense?

I did a search, two of them, and the only "Jungle Emperor Leo" that comes up in my searches is the 1997 one and then there's a link to the movie that was uploaded on Youtube which has the year "2009" in it.

@LuckyStar334 No. This is not a remake. Its More of a Rebirth for the series 50th anniversary in japan. And Besides, if you want to see tezuka's proper jungle emperor leo, look for Leo the lion. (Basically Kimba Season 2, which follows the plot of the movie with a few changes. I take that version to be tezuka's true ending.
Wow I really like this movie, but these are just a few mistakes. Panja died before Kimba was born, and Kimba's mother died soon after he was born. They were in Africa in the sixties. This seems like it's in the future, but the same characters are in this. I got really confused at first. And why did they make the characters the way they did? Kimba afraid of heights and Panja so disrespected? I still love the animation and art of this movie, and the story is great. Really good movie.
So far, I'm not liking the direction they went with the characters in this movie.
It just doesn't seem right to end that first scene with Kimba about to cry about his failure and having the title appearing in front of him right there.
I was thinking that its not impossible that its an other generation of lions... This is obviously not the real original Kimba since he leaves in a synthesized jungle. So it could be a descendant of the original Lion or simply, a parallel universe has used in Digimon between some seasons.

@WildFury I ripped it from the DVD that I bought off of ebay. A malaysian company translated the movie into english and distributed it on a region-free DVD. It runs for decently cheap on ebay, you should try to pick up a copy.. it's probably considered a bootleg but as you can see, the picture quality and subtitles are perfect. The packaging is very nicely designed too. All in all, the purchase is totally worth it.
@WonderfullyWierd1 Watch the entire movie. Also keep in mind that this movie isn't considered canon to the main jungle emperor/kimba series, so a lot of things are different.

@Bluebelle9289 No it wasn't, you're thinking of a different one, that has an entirely different story. This one came out in September 2009. Do a Youtube search for Jungle Emperor Leo 1997, someone uploaded the entire movie on here.

I did a search, two of them, and the only "Jungle Emperor Leo" that comes up in my searches is the 1997 one and then there's a link to the movie that was uploaded on Youtube which has the year "2009" in it.

@Bluebelle9289 do individual Youtube searches on "jungle emperor leo 1997" (video uploader's username is blacklion50, if that helps), and on "jungle emperor leo 2009". Both will come up in searches.
And if you still don't believe me, watch the 1997 movie, or even just part 1, it's clearly VERY different from this movie. You can also check out the website kimbawlion(dot)c0m.. it's got detailed information on each movie, under the Sequels and Movies section.

@NRfun That's where the most common types of lions live but there are some lions who live in the desert and if they can live there, then I must presume that they can also live in the jungle if they're adapted for it.

@LuckyStar334 No. This is not a remake. Its More of a Rebirth for the series 50th anniversary in japan. And Besides, if you want to see tezuka's proper jungle emperor leo, look for Leo the lion. (Basically Kimba Season 2, which follows the plot of the movie with a few changes. I take that version to be tezuka's true ending.

Wow I really like this movie, but these are just a few mistakes. Panja died before Kimba was born, and Kimba's mother died soon after he was born. They were in Africa in the sixties. This seems like it's in the future, but the same characters are in this. I got really confused at first. And why did they make the characters the way they did? Kimba afraid of heights and Panja so disrespected? I still love the animation and art of this movie, and the story is great. Really good movie.

@WaterIily I ended up liking the movie as a whole. I liked the parallel father-son stories they had going on with Leo and Kenichi.
I just didn't like the whole "cowardly lion" angle they went with for Leo. =/
To me, that's just not Leo. Is not. It's just WAY too out-of-character for him.
He slowly became the Leo I know and love as the movie progressed, but at the beginning he was just so annoyingly pathetic. >_<

So far, I'm not liking the direction they went with the characters in this movie.
It just doesn't seem right to end that first scene with Kimba about to cry about his failure and having the title appearing in front of him right there.
It's like it's saying "Yup, that's our hero, folks. Shame, ain't it?" =/
I don't mind the change of plot, or even the fact that Ceasar/Panja is alive.
But why turn Kimba (who was a badass from the getgo) into an acrophobic "useless lion"?
That makes no sense.

I was thinking that its not impossible that its an other generation of lions... This is obviously not the real original Kimba since he leaves in a synthesized jungle. So it could be a descendant of the original Lion or simply, a parallel universe has used in Digimon between some seasons.

@WildFury I ripped it from the DVD that I bought off of ebay. A malaysian company translated the movie into english and distributed it on a region-free DVD. It runs for decently cheap on ebay, you should try to pick up a copy.. it's probably considered a bootleg but as you can see, the picture quality and subtitles are perfect. The packaging is very nicely designed too. All in all, the purchase is totally worth it.
