You nearly had it. Just need to apply some curve effect on the Universal text. Sounds easier saying than probably doing, though. :P

I used Adobe After Effects with the trapcode & knoll light factory plug-ins.
Its not perfect,i couldnt get the text to bend round the world, need another plug in...

The font used on today's logo on the gold part is Century Gothic Bold. Universal Studios oughta hire you for making another logo for them!
