  • I took the new CTS for a test drive a couple months ago and even the new model has the same issue with fit and finish. Even though it's expensive, it doesn't feel it. I was disappointed. The new A4 won for me.

  • I live in Australia and yes the Monaro has cheap materials inside....

  • Cant afford one? Is that why Jezza ownes a Ford GT and a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder?

He could buy 6 Cadillac CTS's with the money from them two.

  • I'd have the Audi if given the choice.

  • We all have different likes and dislikes, so everyon need to STFU, some like it, some dont, theres always better and worse cars in evrones opinions.

  • That car is ugly by any standards.

American manufacturers should hire Europeans for exterior design and Germans or Japanese for build quality.

If they did that I wouldn't mind their straight line power bias so much.

  • americans cannot make car with some minor exeptions. this car is really really really UGLY

the audi is 10 times more beautiful and better car

  • To each his own. I personally find the Audi to be boring, as many of their cars look alike. The Cadillac on the other hand, I find it unique in design. But then again, I like the Chrysler 300C design. For an American car, Cadillac has outdone itself compared to other american sports sedan.

  • this car is awesome the looks the price great deal from cadillac

  • the new looks much better

  • yeah I know the one you're talking about

  • I wish they wouldn't compare lap times when it is wet out. Well, where I live we get about 150 mm of rain a year, so I can pick when it isn't wet out...

I think if I were to drive the Vauxhall people would think it was a Pontiac Sunfire.

  • Audi cannot pass the caddy, cos its huge american ass is waving across the track lol audi gets blocked

  • "I know the door is open! There's a gap! That's how I got out !"

I just can't stop laughing ^^ This car is terrible... =/

  • You tell him.

But the bonging is still annoying, my car dosnt bong and i have never locked my keys in.

  • Jeremy - If you don't like the, "bonging", take the darned KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION! That, "bonging", is there to tell the driver that they've left the key in the ignition and are about to close/lock the door of the car! Unless you like being locked out of your car Jeremy, this is a good feature! Wake up and smell the coffee and stop making assnine comments and criticisms!

  • Agreed

  • I saw an old lady driving this car yesterday.

  • now try the circuit again...in the wet

  • EXACTLY!!! trow it in some snow or rain, and the Audi will own it. Thats the sad thing about America, most of our cars suck. We build better tanks and jet fighters, lol.

  • Haha.. You know that it is Norway that develops the technology to your tanks and jets? And that we give you the creds for it?

  • yeah but guess who poured billions into the reconstruction of western European nations like norway after the devastation of WW2 . Something nobody ever talks about.

  • Yeah, i've heard a lot about the Truman Doctrine and i learned that Norway was one of the countries who got the least amount of money. Don't misunderstand me, I love USA. But it's still norway who is developing the technology to your tanks and planes and weapons. :)

  • @tordern22 and I'm telling you they can't do half of it without american funding

  • We pretty much could. But i not sure if we would. Anyway, its seems like u think Norway is a poor country, but here's one for you, we are one of the richest countries i the world. But as you said: We've got the brains and you've got the money. Now, how about that? :)

  • @tordern22

    hahaha

well that is what an alliance is all about we give each other what the other needs

I'm not too proud to admit those folks in Norway are pretty clever.

  • Yeap.. i love the alliance between Norway and USA.. USA is the country in the world with most people that has norwegian ancestors.. :P

  • Since when were U.S. companies like General Electric, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, etc., etc., that develop and manufacture military technology, located in Norway? Those companies are all based in America.

  • Whats sad is that Cadillac could easily make a car equal to or better than a lot of European cars, but because they are STILL making cheap cars that are just simply flashy and unreliable, they will never make it. They ALMOST did with this car, but because they just dont seem to understand the word quality, they will always continue to make so so cars.

  • it will be better not to pass a CTS. with my Audi 2.7 T

  • this is just a bit unfair, rs4 would be a different story.

  • Don't leave the key in the ingintion with the door open!! Most cars have a polite reminder, they don't actually scream at you, "Idiot, you left the key in the ignition."

  • As a spectator from a third world country, Americans have a lot of technology and advancement at their disposal. But in terms of cars, they are beaten down by European caliber and Japanese efficiency straight out. Its not a bad thing, but its a observation. No wonder, most American Auto companies are in a fledgling state.

  • TejasM14 - That is incorrect. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 totally embarrasses mega-dollar European quiche-mobile's for a tenth of the price. The American technology in the Corvette ZR1 is nothing short of stunning!

  • generally i agree with you but GM and Ford have brought some really good cars ever since they've gone really bad. I guess they learned their lesson, but Chrysler ehhh not so much.

  • Chrysler got stripped by Mercedes and Cerberus. So they know the lessons, but they have nothing to work with the show us so. Fiat *might* change that.

  • I heard Fiat Chrysler deal got sacked. Is that true or could the deal still happen?

  • It's a done deal. Fiat is the "partner" with Chrysler. This however seems to be a much more genuine partnership than with Mercedes. The Charger and 300 and Grand Cherokee are being updated. Everything that isn't being dropped is being updated. But I'm not about to hold my breath without seeing the actual machines on a stand.

  • Thats cool. Any word on the 500 or Panda coming here with a Chrysler badge on them.

  • The 500 Will be sold as a FIAT in Chrysler dealerships. Depending on popularity the Abarth version may make it over. So far FIAT has said that the 500 would the only FIAT sold as a FIAT in the US. The Doblo was recently said to sell as a RAM after the DODGE/RAM split. No word on the Panda.

  • wow thats really cool. America's finally gonna get some fun small cars. Well the Mini is really cool but it kinda has a monoply lol.

  • FIAT = Fix It Again Tony!

FIAT = Found In A Toilet!

  • whats the song that plays when jeremy asks if stig understood what he said at 4:27?

  • If you ever watched top gear for the 350Z, you'd realize how biased these guys are.

  • I'm an American and don't take offense to this at all. Quite frankly, I find what he's saying to be absolutely hilarious....because it's true.

  • a country called GERmany hahahahahahah ROFL

it reminds me of Homer Simpson in that fitness episode: a gym... what's a gym... oooh a gym! XD

  • i was reading the comments and jeremy isnt a dick or whatever you are saying hes one of the only people that talks his mind and dosnt lie about everything. Its not his fault that usa has only made 1 good car the ford gt bt then if cadalac do make the 16 then they would have made 2 so im\ sorry americans you havnt made any good cars untill 2003 ish. And plus if you dnt like top gear dont watch it its a british show and you can try to take the mick out of england but we save ur ass all the time

  • joshti1 - You live in ENGLAND, so by default, you don't know much about American cars. Stop the hate.

  • check the new cts-v

  • I wish Cadillac would stop making these awful sports saloons and go back to where they belong: Luxury. That Sixteen concept car was phenominal: a proper Cadillac for the 21st Century, the pinnacle of luxury. Not so long ago, Cadillac was America's Rolls Royce. It seems like now, they don't really know what they're doing.

  • Why have I got it wrong? Why am I pompous? Cadillac made their name in luxury, and that's what they've always been best at. I say they don't really know what they're doing, because that's true. They tried to flog us Brits the terrible STS; they put a Saab in a pimp suit and called it the CTS; there was a rubbish SUV called the Escalade, and that shameful attempt at a sports car: the XLR-V. I just don't see why they can't go back to luxury cars.

  • no offense man, that remark was for Jeremy, its obvious that he hates American made cars, but complaining about chime ? it simply tells you that you've got your key in the ignition or your lights are on... on the other hand CTS-V is a powerhouse, don't know if you had the experience but as ugly as it is - I love it

  • No I never have driven it, but I'm told it's a good drive. That said though, I still wouldn't have one: I like a sports saloon to come from a company with a histroy in motorsport. There has never been a Cadillac F1 car; there has never been a Cadillac Rally car; there has never been a Cadillac Touring car. And I'm pretty sure there's never been a Cadillac NASCAR racer.

I bet if Ford made a sports saloon, Jeremy wouldn't criticise it. They could put the GT's engine in the Mondeo.

  • jcezary - Here, here! I agree.

  • Why do they say having the steering wheel on the right is the correct way? Most of the world actually drives with left hand steering...

  • Its just British sense of humour, Clarkson knows fully well that 75 - 80% of the world drives a left-hand drive car.

  • ya it only bongs with the key in, for obvious reasons. You know Jeremy is just trying to trying to make the show funny...

too bad the only way hes funny is making of america

  • But there is no "law" forced upon you to go Green, America is the only country not to have signed and ratified the Kyoto treaty.

  • "There's no green movement in America."

Oh, how I long for those times, Clarkson. I can't open a magazine, turn on the tv, listen to the radio or take a shit without some jackoff telling me to how go green and reduce, re-use, recycle. Christ I hate fads.

  • 344bhp audi vs 400bhp cadillac and still it was very close. They didn't used the RS4 as a benchmark because they knew it would easily beat the cadillac. The closest rival of the cadillac, the old rs6 also would beat it.

  • exactly!!!!!!!

s4 is just nothing compared to rs4.. that would be fare test not s4

  • They should review the new CTS-V

  • Is that the car that broke the sedan record on the Nurburgring?

  • @rudeydudey05 CTS-V yes, but not that one. The one that beat it is the new CTS-V with a supercharged V8, the LSA, with 550 hp

  • Thank you for the reply, 550hp on a sedan! Thats quite impressive.

  • they already did... type in "top gear american road trip"

  • Thanks!

  • You do have to admit though, that entire 'bong' sound is annoying as fuck, and totally unnecessary for a car. Any car.

  • true, it should bong if you forget to turn off the headlights but then again they should be automatic, as for the door cant u just see the icon display near the gauge cluster. the only noise like that should come when your almost out of gas, or the backup sensors lol

  • It bongs when he doesn't turn the key all the way up to start, annoying and kindof stupid, but the check engine light turns on when you do that. it bongs because of the seatbelt due to seatbelt enforcement. Finally, it bongs because he left is keys in the ignition and then opened the door, a feature that has been around for years to make people remember their keys. Lights are automatic and turn off by themselves, no bong unless you purposely turn them on.

  • lol try this cadillac with quattro on snow ;)

  • Notice how Americans are the first to type Xenophobic rubbish when they dont like something.

  • you are a total american

  • @shitshowhockey . the thing you need to realize, man, is that while this caddy is fast, and our country has pumped out a few gems - (CTS-V, Viper srt-10, Ford GT) , the ratio of foreign awesomeness to american awesomeness is still in their favor. we utilize and reverse engineer a lot of their cars and aspects. The CTS-V has a great suspension -because it was tuned in GERMANY. I love the states, and respect you completely (hockey kicks major ass as well), but america is not the king of autos.

  • "i think it even bongs if youve breathing out for a long time to remind you its time to breath in again! so of course it bongs when you open the door... new bong.. I KNOW THE DOOR IS OPEN - THERES A GAP!!!!! THATS HOW I GOT OUT!!!!!!!!"

looooooooooooooool Jeremy has got a proper sense of humour!!! :D lmao

  • Fast cars that people think are slow are cool in my book.. I would love to tune a old volvo. put a tuned chevy V8 in it, racing break, suspension and stuff.. make it look 99% stock and kick some ass with it.. LOL!!

  • dune3ctm

Americans are allowed to be bias over American cars, Germans over German cars, Japanese over Japanese cars!!

Why is it such a crime for British people on a British show to be bias over British cars? So what!

Plus i dont see the point as Audi is a German car, i think your allowing your prejudice to overflow a tad.

  • What song is that on the beginning of the video ( guitar)

  • wow the door handles are off my dads saturn aura, which I think the saturn aura would get better marks.

  • It was a Caddy that killed him.

  • I will take the Caddy over the Audi, "anytime, anywhere". General Patton, who knew Europe better than anyone, stated the same.

  • Stiggy Wakey Wakey!!! ^_^

  • Well mate, you said Americans invented the car, most will see that as pretty arrogant and ignorant. so your not in a posistion to call anyone arrogant, unles you was looking in the mirror at the time.

  • wait. There are outher countries? With other people? nah.

  • Audi Quattro would smoke both of these.

  • Wrong Title , this is an Audi S4 ( of corse with Quattro Drive ) not an Audi Quattro . Audi Quattro is a different Car !

  • Whats the song that starts at 4:28?

  • my one off 2006 ls2 turbocharger cts-v is on ebay right now. also, click my screen name to see vids of said car.

    happy bidding! =]

  • If you hate the British so much why do you watch Top Gear, a British show.

The lack of intelligence of some people is simply shocking. What does one expect from a Bitter inbred sheep shagging Kiwi.

  • There is another reason for your thumbs down, it could be because you talk bollocks.

and for the record i have never given anyone a thumbs down, there is no point.

  • I like that Cadillac. First thing I'do however is getting rid of those bongs.

  • The Aston V8 Vantage still has a jag engine. The Jaguar AJ-V8 powerplant.

  • jaguar is owned by Tata, . i guess it will still be enginered in britian, but owned by an indian company haha

  • Yep, So is Land Rover.

Like i said earlier, i dont mind foreign ownership, i welcome it if a British car maker is to survive, plus it is a "subsidiary" of Tata, that means the design, engineering and assemblyand is in britain, it keeps people in jobs and its good for the local economy. Anyway Britain still have many other British run car manufactures and Tata are doing a bang on job, better than what Ford did.

  • Thats why Clarkson's the Man.

  • What a smart ass...to the point of being very annoying.

  • Any way, with the British motor industry i think its good to get rid of the old, Bentley, Jag, LandRover and Rolls and start a freash with the New upcoming British Brands that will be among the big boys in the future.

Like the Caparo, Farboud, MG XPower, Melling Hellcat, Prodrive, Ultima. Who says we havnt got a car industry, its thriving lol. Even some old ones are still making cars like Ginetta, Invicta, Marcos and Cooper. Its in good shape imo.

  • Yes, but the company is in Britain and not overseas, and two of the co-founders of the company are British, the cars are designed, engineered and assembled in the UK..

Farboud GTS is very much British.

Its like Tesla Motors, its an American company, even when the founder is South African.

  • You have no further comments because you lack the intelligence to do so. Its easy to call someone an Idiot but its hard to objectively debuff their comments. If you cant contribute, simply dont.

  • The thing is, it is annoying for a car to make any noise other than the purrr of the engine and the hoot of the horn.

  • the bong that's on when he opens his door is to remind you that your keys are still in the ignition. Not just to let you know you're door is open, silly clarkson.

  • Jeremy loves ripping the American cars, he is very funny and i love watching him but he should keep abit more of an open mind. Some American Cars are amazing

  • Lol the americans make a car that goes around corners... and it's built on an european Mercedes platform.

    Nicely done boys.

The CTS-V is a mercedes with GM bodywork and engine. And interior.... sadly.

  • Apart from the small Kit car manufactures what British car wholey use japanese engines? Apart from Lotus which uses both Rover and Toyota powerplants?

  • Radical is a Track day car in the same vane as a kit car, they also use Cosworth tuned Duratec and Hayabusa Engines, try and think of a non Track day/Kit car manufacture that soley use Japanese Engines.

  • The reason why you are having trouble finding jap engines in Brit cars is because it is very rare for a Brit company to use them. The Engines AC, Ford MG Rover Ascari, Rover Chev Ford BMW Aston, Built inhouse on Ford design Bentley, Bentley BMW VW Bowler, LandRover TVR Caterham, Lotus Rover Cosworth Jag, Jag Lister Cars, Jag Land Rover, LandRover Jag Lotus,Toyota Rover MG, MG McLaren, Merc BMW McLaren Mini, BMW Cooper Rolls, Built on BMW design TVR, TVR
  • Rover no longer make cars, The Arial atom is just a small track day car maker with 7 employees and Lotus use both Toyota and Engines from a Rover design.

  • Thats were your ignorant foolish little mind is wrong, AC, Ascari, Aston Martin, Arial, Bowler, Bristol, Caterham, Lister, McLaren, Morgan, Noble, TVR and Westfield are all British owned companies, a bit of research would of told you that.

Anyway, what has New Zealand got to offer in the motor industry, LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL

  • That right its easy to laugh at the downfall of another countries car industry, but at least we have had one and still have a strong industry. The only reason your country is the only country that isnt in recession is because NZ has no industry to recess. 75 - 80% of everthing needs to be imported into NZ, nothing comes out.

  • Very wrong that.

  • investment dar and adeem investment are only the investment, every car company has investment from elsewere, the real owners are the people who run the consortium led by Prodrive chairman David Richards and John Sinders(Both British by the way) , all that maters is that Aston is now a British company. Nikolai Smolenski is also a British Citizen, making TVR a British Company and not a Russain one.

As both Aston and TVR are both built and designed in the UK.

  • Aston engines are built at the Aston Martin engine plant in Germany. Owned by Aston. So its built by Aston isnt it. You really are not the brightest spark are you?

All us British do is put it together? All the cars are Designed, Engineered and built in Britian.

  • astons had jaguar engines until the db9

  • blues saraceno - blood shot

is the sickest song ever :P

  • Max, how thick can one be??? Zonda can be used as a shortened version of "Pagani Zonda" when typed. People with half a brain have managed to work that out, except you of course. Please dont sneeze, it kills brain cells and you must be running dangerously low.

  • finally the American builds a car that can be driven like the EU/Jap car... not juz straight lanes...=='

  • Music at 6:01

  • Americans invented the car?

Carl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler would want to dispute that claim.

  • I dont think it was laughable, the Motorwagen was briliant for the time. I agree that Ford pioneered in the production line but they didnt invent the car.

  • GO AMERICA.....just kidding but seriously

  • the steering wheel is on the WRONG side of the car....remember, Germans invented the car....and they invented it with the wheel on the LEFT side!!!!

  • no america does it right it belongs on that side

  • Not quite, Carl Benz's Motorwagen, the wheel was in the middle.

  • stiggy...wakey wakey!!! LOL

  • "european handling.... HAHA xD"

    very nice

  • the bong is there to remind u the key is still in the ignition

  • Are Americans that dumb they need this reminder - really?

  • It can happen to anybody it doesnt matter what the fuck you are

  • why th fuk would we be jelous of a bunch of fukin yanks ?

  • Every time he reviews an american car he says "american cars didn't handle, until now" He's been saying that for almost 10 years now. American cars handle just like...cars. Why do shows like top gear keep on reusing stereotypes that have been disproven over the last 5-7 years?

  • american cars are rubbish!!

  • because american cars still suck

  • its not the richest you idiot. USA is 7 trllion $ in debt

  • I would love to drive around the nurburgring

  • of course they make fun of America just like America makes fun of everyone else.. If you don't like you're own culture leave. As an American I can say hey, Yes the cars in the 50s from America were huge, but that's because we wanted them to match our male phallic units.. just like Europe did with their cars, making them small and agile. I love classic American and foreign cars and I also love top gear.

  • well said

  • right. tell me why it is that nobody else wants to realise that and stop having these stupid and pointless arguments? its so very sad.

also. anyone wondering about the kick as music playing at about 4:27 its called

    Blues Saraceno - Blood Shot

took me ages to find :P

  • Yea but alot of americans make fun of others...so shut up

  • They "down" America so much in this show. Jealous anyone?

  • Besides, if we Americans are going to be so sensitive about how other countries tease us, maybe we should demand a little more quality from our manufacturers. I don't drive a Caddy, but if it's built on a GM platform, I wouldn't be surprised if the fit and finish isn't quite up to international standards. It may feel quite plush to our plastic-tolerant standards, but when your raised on European materials, our synthetic luxury might just not taste as good.

And yes, '80s Caddies were for granny

  • I think J's attitude toward us Americans is hilarious, even if he stretches the truth a bit. He's an entertainer, plain and simple, and I like that all the tests and reviews are biased and tongue in cheek. We don't watch this show for numbers, we can get real lap times from drab old Car and Driver.

Besides, I hate door chimes telling me that my keys are in the ignition. My car needs to mind it's own dam business and not be my mommy.

  • I like Jeremy but i think he complains alot or he just don like america. The door makes that noise when you open it AND LEAVE the key on the ignition not just when you open it. It would help some one in a hurry not to leave the key in the car or even used the lock on the door to lock them in.

  • yes i agree with you and your damn right lol the beep sound only comes on if you leave the key in and leave the car.
