  • why is your RPM gauge moving so much if you are staying at a constant speed?

  • i have a 2000 grand am v6 at 209,000 miles and no problems so far. hopefully it stays that way cuz i cant afford a new car right now. just startin college.

  • my 2004 ga gt 2 door just hit 100k yesterday :(

  • I have a 2004 Grand am gt.With 58.000 miles on it.Only problem with it was the wheel hubs went bad at 50000.Other than that. The grand am drives like new.Drives better than my 2007 Toyota camry se v6..

  • i got a 2000 GAGT with just about 200 000 KM and i drive the shit out of it and it still works great

  • i have a 1999 GAGT red 2 door. i think it has 111,380 miles or something like that. still runs like its brand new. and looks just about like it to. lol.

  • I have a 2003 GAGT...never had a single problem and its tons of fun to beat rice burners in for being an economical ride

  • bough one last year pay 10 grand 32,000km Mint condition..then again a 70 year old grandma owned it lol

  • omar diab lol

  • 100 000. It's a miracle for a gm....

  • my 2000 grand am gt has 70000 miles. but sometimes the turnsignals wont work. or any of the gages.

  • ground wire i think

  • ur so funny!!!

  • I always wondered why those 6000 models ran so long? Oh and on the fuel pump issues, if all possible try to keep over a quarter tank of fuel at all times(I dont let mine go under 1/2) cause that will extend the life of the fuel pump and on the brakes they are expensive cause front brakes and rotors cost me 100 for the Grand Am and on my girlfriends cavalier I can get them for 60.

  • Well the Pontiac 6000's ran for so long because they had bulletproof powertrains. They came with either the 2.5L "iron duke" 4 cylinder or the 60 degree chevy V6. The iron duke was a little 88 horsepower pushrod rattletrap, but it would chug along for hundreds of thousands of miles. The 2.8L and 3.1L 60 degree V6 engines they put in the 6000 will also go FOREVER - believe me I had a 3.1L in my 1990 buick regal and it was unstoppable - it got to well over 200K.

  • Unfortunately when GM re-designed the 60 degree V6 in the mid 90's they ran into some issues with "gelling" of the dexcool coolant and the LIM and head gaskets leaking as well.

  • Oh and it wasn't even the engine that gave out on my 6000. The wheel fell off while I was going 45 mph and I skidded 300 feet....lol

  • Wow that must have scared the crap out of you!!! I probably would have had a heart attack lol

  • wel on my van its like 6000 for all 4 new brakes, 2 drums, 2 disks

  • I have a 2001 Grand Am GT with 91k on it. I bought it for 20k cash in October of 2000 and I can honestly say that I have never put out any money on repairs besides for routine maintence. I did have a LIM leak at 78k but put in some Bars Leak and it sealed it right up.

  • Oh that's not the only stuff I fixed in the car, I replaced the brakes twice now, and in December the fuel pump burned up which left my car dead in the road on a really bad corner. Luckily it was still under my powertrain warranty so it was paid for but....my 1988 Pontiac 6000 never gave me this kind of trouble. Granted, at 198,737 the front driver's side wheel fell off but....

  • What broke on your Grand Am ?

  • oh god, almost everything...in May it was the head gasket ($1200), intake valve cover gasket ($425), door regulator (which controls the window going up and down ($250), and some other small stuff that ended up adding up to $500 but at the moment I don't remember what they were.

  • Oh crap - mine has 60,000 on it so I guess thats what I have to look forward to in another 40,000 miles =( do you have the V6 or the 4 Cylinder?

  • v6. I bought it used with 50,280 on it in July 2005.

  • Wow sounds like you really got a lemon! =( Funny that you mention the 6000 - I've seen those things with over 250,000 miles on them! Do you think you will buy another Pontiac?

  • I would buy another 6000 but I'll never ever buy a new Pontiac. In fact I never would have junked the old one if I had any idea what I was in for, I would have fixed it even though the damages were about $2000...this car has already cost me a lot more than that and I'm making payments! ughhh!!! If you know anyone who wants to part with a 6000 let me know lol.

  • Yeah I really can't blame you. But from what I hear the new pontiacs like the G6 are much improved over the grand am.

  • get a grand prix, veru nice and reliable ride too

  • lol it's ok, my grand am got totaled in February and I got an '84 Saab 900. I love Saabs, especially one as old as me. :D

  • Amr Diab eh....Nice song....
