  • How is the station separation on these radios?

  • i'm in NW Ohio and once got KOA from denver on my ihome.

  • I like this model so much, I own 2 of them! AM dx'ing on the CCRadio-SW is very good (almost as good as my Panasonic RF2200 - now thats saying something!) I live in the MSP metro and routinely pick up almost every 50kW'er east of the Rockies at night with this rig. Additionally, I often pull in numerious distant lower power AM stations on this radio during day light hours from across the upper Midwest. Just a fabulous radio for AM band dx'ing!

  • @Aircastle66 Look for an old SONY 2010 . It will put both of these fine radios to shame ! I consider the 2010

pretty much THE BEST PORTABLE AM DX MACHINE ! And I've been DXing for 35yrs ! The 2010 was manufactured from about 1983 - 1992 . They're still available used . The latest units seem to be the best There is also some new hand-size radios from Tecsun that use a computer chip for signal processing . These radios are cheap (around $75.00 shipped) The PL-380 is great !

  • Crane makes the best radio electronics of today. You pay several times the price, but if quality is your game, Crane is the only way to go. Once you've used a quality radio, you'll never be happy withi anything less.

A have an ancient shortwave receiver that will rival a Crane; there's even a collector's market for them these days. Made back in the 70's, it is the Sony 5900W. Radio buffs know exactly what I'm talking about. :) Analog tuning, but very accurate with bandspread.

  • This radio is one of the best sounding portables I've ever owned. Its AM sensitivity is superb. My one, bought in Germany at a large electronics retail chain, is labeled "Roadstar TRA-2350P".

  • Try AM 860 KWPC in Muscatine Iowa.

  • oh this station really pumps my nads!

  • Keep in mind that both WLW and AM 740 are clear channels and at night can be heard all over your continent (or at least most of it) even on a normal car radio. That said, I am not knocking the CCRadio Plus. Next time I splurge for a radio I will definitely get this one. (by mail order, alas).

  • from your house try 84 whas in louisville or with a long wire try west coast x mitters believe it or not i would like to try a dirrectional 11.5 ft c band dish with a radio like yours.

  • I bought this radio from my China man. It's pretty good and not expensive.

  • Any European or South American DXes on the MW band Flash?

    Cheers

  • I just have to post this; I was outside tonight and amazed at the radio selectivity/sensitivity.

Tuned in WLW 700 Cincinnati Loud and clear sitting in my yard. A local station Am740 can't be heard Unless I'm on 740. Very little to no bleed over even from strong stations. Anyone looking to upgrade from a GE Super Radio I, II, III this is the radio for you.

  • That's cool man. I live in Cincinnati, home of "The Big One." (WLW) I just bought one of those C Crane SWs and can't wait for it to arrive so I can try some DX-ing myself. Can you get Philadelphia's WPHT? It's 1210 AM or thereabouts. I can pick that up in Cincy pretty well. Must be a pretty strong station up there.

  • I hear your AM 740 (CFZM ?) loud and clear at night here in central NY on an old 1958 Grundig Majestic table radio

    Great post !

    73-N2PTF

  • @flash178 You are very lucky to have a receiver that actually lasts for more than 3 days. On my Grundig S350DL, both 680 News and for some reason 820 CHAM are totally overloaded by AM 740.

  • Wow, I can get Ontario from here in New York on my CCRadio Plus.

  • What stations are you getting?

  • Best dx radio I have ever owned. I suggest the ferrite antenna with the 50 extension cord. I am picking up stations (5000 watt types) one hundred and fifty miles away with no problem. The low power stations are harder to pull in than the clear channel superstations, so receiving a low power station a 150 miles away is a real accomplishment. You can also test out the one kc tuner when fishing for the low power stations.

    Great radio!
