I worked for Mr. Landis for one and one half days. "Serpent" is a fine movie. Mr. Landis was directing a rather terrible film with some amazing talent-for-hire, including Donald "Duck" Dunn, Steve Cropper, Cab Calloway (who looked like he was about to die but was having a good time), Akroyd, Belushi (and his stunt double) and all the rest (Matt Murphy and I forget who the drummer was) at the Hollywood Palladium. Landis, you putz, come check out my act on the Walk of Fame, near the Chinese.
Enjoyed this, but would have been better if it contained video of the interview, rather than just the audio portion. Apparently this was not posted by BBC, and if so, that's fine. Not intended as criticism -- just wishful thinking. Next Kermode and Mayo need to interview Ray Harryhausen, John Carpenter, Rick Baker & other SF/horror auteurs. This genre is where Kermode really shines.
@mervynpeek: It's a Radio show so they don't always film the interviews :| And even then it's just like a camera stuck in the wall of the recording studio :)
what people have called Zombies are not really Zombies. the only Zombies per se are people brought to life by Voodoo. the right term is The Living Dead or Ghouls. that's their race of monsters "Ghouls".
never heard Landis being so argumentative, but its an interesting conversation

I didn't know who John Landis was before this interview, and judging by his arguments here I don't care to know. His voice alone makes me cringe.

I wanted the Good Doctor to punch him in the face.
