Never heard this version before. I've always been familiar with the original version by Big Joe Turner and the famous cover version by Bill Hailey And The Comets. Great find.
Doesn't quite measure up to the Turner or Haley versions, but still pretty good. He had good timing releasing this in 68 when both Turner and Haley were riding the wave of the rock and roll revival. Conley's version was the other recording other than those two's to become a hit (Elvis's recording flopped).
this is more similar to sam cookes version of shake rattle and roll and it sounds just like him.he is truly one of the most overlooked artists in music history!
okay, who was first...this guy or SAM COOKE??? who's imitating who because they both sound amazingly alike!!! help me...i've never heard of this cat before...but, he sounds great though!!!
Hey babysis, I am gonna be FITTYFO' in December, and gulllll, lemme tell you, you missed some WUNDERFUL music of 60s and 70s. GOOD stuff was being pumped out look like erry other DAY! now me, I loved Motown, especially Smokey, and it looked like everytime I got back from the sto' with ONE record, another one was on the radio! In Chi-Town, we LOV us some stomp down music!
thanks soooooooo much fa educatin' me, big sis!!! KEEP ME STRAIGHT ON DIS STUFF!!! i's only 41, but my older sisters "seasoned" me reeeeeeeeeeal good wit' dis stuff!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!! and I LOVE YOU fah helpin' a sistah out!!!
