@GuitarGeekCm It was a choice essentially made for him by David Foster who was primarily responsible for projecting Groban into a recording career.  It proved to be a good choice, certainly helped by Groban's good ear for Italian and Spanish. However, Groban has progressively moved away from his beginnings and his soon-to-be-released album will likely not feature much if any Italian. One song in Brazilian Portuguese however is likely to be included.

I don't know who sang the orginal version, they both recorded the song in 2003 I believe. However today I heard the version by Lisa for the first time, which is nice. Never heard Lisa sing it live though. This version by Groban is a live performance, which does not do him justice. His studio version is absolutely hauting. On CD Groban's Italian is all most perfect. Noticed when singing live his pronounciation is lacking a little. Makes me wonder if he understands the Italian language.
