I was there too this day in 1965. It was a fun contest for all of us. Dora was a hard guy to get to know but was always destined to be one of the "greats."
The footage of Miki (blue competition vest) giving Johnny Fain (red competition vest) the push was taken at the 1965 Malibu Invitational Surfing Contest. I think Fain was surfing for the Malibu Surfing Association and that the goofyfoot (red vest) who took off in front of Miki in a subsequent shot might have been Butch Linden. Whoever it was, he tried hard to take Miki down with him, but failed. Miki was the master.
Does Dora remind anyone else of Rod Serling? RIP MIKI.

The guy calls him "young man," but wasn't he about 30 in this film?

@ChrisYonts Yea but this '60's footage is actually used in a 1978 film, So i guess they are saying he was younger back then
