  • Hi!, I just aquired exactly the same harness with the racket engine. A while ago. I'm still getting use to the hang glider that i got for that and I still haven't flown it.. I have a question.

How hard is it to turn the engine on while in flight???

    Thanks

  • @orugamaldita I can't start the engine while in the harness on the ground. I usually start the engine, then get in the harness. I've never tried an in flight restart, but it may be easier since you have your feet on the foot bar for leverage. i recently changed my harness to make it easier to start on the ground, but i think the best thing is electric start, if you can get it. I recommend mosquito america's website and wind-drifter's website for more info.

  • How hard was it to transition from flying hang gliders to FLPHG? I want one, but I want to make sure i have enough experience first.

  • Not very hard, but different, and of course, power is a double edged sword. I recommend windrifter's site, and mosquitoamerica's site for info and video. There's also a yahoo group for flphg's too. You can fly in very light conditions with power. It's good to stick to that.

  • wtf is a biking helmet gonna do in a crash?

  • I see you have the same problem of closing the zipped flaps above the shoulders. I solved the harness problems by removing it and adding a proper harness. Take a look at my videos to see how it's done. I can email some pictures if you wanted to do the same thing. Stick with the power- with parachuting you're always coming downPete

  • Look for the Yahoo group for River valley PPG Also see hillbillyjedi on this site. Britton has 13 videos and he is planning a group flight in october. From Arkoma to Memphis. I'm just north of Russellville, AR

  • Cool, I am moving to Rogers in a few months, I have a ppg and I will be looking for people to fly with and some cool flying sites, any info, or websites would be appreciated. Where are you located?

    Kevin

  • Have you ever looked into Powered paragligers? It looks alot better than this. Where are you lolcated?

  • Yes, I have some experience with pg's, but I have 20+ yrs with hg's. I was 50/50 on ppg vs power harness. I went with this because I traded my trike, no money, and I,m more comfortable with hang gliders. Loc-NW AR

  • Don-IF you go skydiving I have one suggestion: make sure you jump at a place that has a SEPARATE PHOTOGRAPHER to video/pictures of your jump! Some places have the instructor hold a camera as they jump with you. That gives you close ups of your face only during the jump and you do not get to see your jump the way you would with a cameraman along! My nephew's first jump was his face only--and not the fantastic videos we all got when we jumped!

  • I can see where your neck would hurt after awhile. You apparently have a variety of video cameras for this use. What do you keep putting in your mouth? Is that a camera control switch or something else? Guess this is about as close as you can get to the feeling of being a bird and flying! can you control your direction with that? or speed of landing? You must be STRONG to carry that so much and run with it. Hope you are happy with your trade :)

  • I used several flights and movie maker. There's a mouth throttle, and I have a camelbak for water. It's very controllable, with speeds close to a parachute. Weight is 55 lbs, wing, and 45 harness. Tough to launch in the heat. That's why I'm looking at skydiving. Just need to get past the faaalling!

  • your camera set up makes for great videos! BELIEVE ME, there is NO feeling of FALLING when you skydive. I think that was the BIGGEST surprise even though they told us we wouldn't feel like we were falling (yeah, like we believed THAT! haha). Ask anyone who has posted their 1st jumps. My sister, niece, & 2 daughters & I went for our 1st jump TOGETHER. they all said the same exact thing: NO FEELING OF FALLING! their videos are on your tube, too.
