my sweetheart Jeff i so long for more of your beautiful deep music .... i wish you were still here sharing your true music bliss .... i will never forget you xxoo
A classic of our era. And to think that terrible album sleeve for 'Grace' put me off for a few weeks (until I heard Corpus Christi at someone's house!). Just getting a second wind with Jeff Buckley actually, loving it all over again. I love how you can do that with music. Genius...
The people that have disliked this are obviously Step fans. he is the most flawless live singer. He sings like an angel. It saddens me that he was took from his family and fans so soon. His mother and father should be so proud of what this man has achieved in such a small time with few songs.. he has the power through his voice to change peoples lifes. Wither it be from sad to happy or from cold to warm. He has a unique gift and is completley unique in him self.
@ellioteaston93 Because he didn't like to portray himself as the frontman. If you watch the DVD of the show he takes time to introduce every member, even involving the stage crew.
man i got addicted to grace in there past 2 weeks , my top 10 forever now... jeff ... what can i say? i am seeing this video everyday for weeks, and everytime is like, is this a different version? every time is unique to my interpretaion, and im not even in love haha thanks jeff
Was watching this show with Elvis Costello and Rufus Wainright on Sky Arts the other morning. They talked about they're memories of Jeff and how brilliant he was. Amazing <3
Thank You, Jeff your voice has opened my heart again..If anyone is reading this remember the anniversary of his death is on 5/29 lets request his music on the radio lets get his music out to others to discover his amazing GRACE.
Part of the human existence is to worship, God beautifully made us to worhip,,,be it a great concert, wonderful gospel, or just that beautiful connection you get church...The closed feeling I've had to church is listening to Mr Buckley...god bless you and your soul
@Nannometer totally agree with you---I sometimes have the disconcerting feeling that I am idolatrous regarding Jeff, but I can't ever change my belief that he is the single most wondrous musician I have come across in my lifetime.
My absolute favorite track of Jeffs, I first heard the Grace album n was completely blown away. This was back in 94. I'm a singer songwriter n at that time my tastes were opening to new sounds n genres. Buckley's power, passion n utter fearlessness as a vocalist n master of falsetto inspired me to sing w all of my being so the gods themselves might take notice. His passing was a huge loss, short of the fame he would've undoubtably attained. Maybe God dug his music so much he coudnt wait anymore.
i woke up 1 morning and saw a note on my pillow that said meet me @ my house @ 11:00 pm so i did and my boyfriend had a dinner table with candals and everything and i was wondering wheir he was, he walks out and has his band and hes singing and playing guitar to this song, i loved it because he looks like jeff buckley very much! and his voice is pure and beautiful like jeffs. but jeff buckley was way better, if i had 2 pick my favorite date it wuld b tht bc he was dressed like this video.! <3
I don't think I've ever heard a song that has accessed such a deep place within me. The lyrics, the melody, his voice, everything seem to embody this inescapable yearning. And it's so ridiculously beautiful at the same time...
This song is and will always be dedicated to the man i thought i was going to spend the rest of my life with: Darius. D. you woke me from near death. you brought a light and dreams back in my life just because of the way you looked at me. I was ready to give you my heart but i got scared and ran. I'm sorry if i caused you hurt. I wish you all the happiness, where ever you are. You will always have a special place in my heart.
You know, if I could, I wouldn't go to one of his gig. Because... at the end, I'd be like "AGAIN, GIVE ME AGAIN", and I'll be depressed during a few months. So, no.
This is just too fucking sad. How can someone not cry with this. The person he wrote this song for is the luckiest person in the universe. Breaks my heart to hear the pain in his voice and then to see the fact that he died too soon.
@Darksunshinerain87 i hear you, i totally agree with you, i had ticket and a back stage pass to his show in tokyo back in the day, but i was too young to go to concert so i couldnt go, i could've meet him, just like this song "lover you should've come over".. even thou i was just a kid, but i was in love with his songs.. i really wanted to see him...
@Darksunshinerain87 i've cried over his death all night long so many many times before, the pillow was half soaked and my the lights went on downstairs... because there is just nothing that can bring him back now. i'd do anything to be back in that scene. with his presence, he was so artistic.
how can a man be this beautiful, he had made a big impact in my life, hes my true insparation, no one could be as beautiful as Jeff Buckley, i can see why they called his cd grace! he is a true angel from above, we love u Jeff. we'll be seeing you!
@zipdoa Ditto!! that's how I found him, or should I say he found me! I have a theory that he IS screaming down form heaven!!!!! and that's why it just keeps on growing, Fearless, Pearless, Brilliant, forever and forever!!!
seeing this video makes it even harder for me to understand that all the fakes around the world get so much attention, when they deserve nothing. This is as real as it gets !
You MUST hear this through headphones, OMG, every fibre of his being, you can feel..every note from the band, the bass, ahhh, his voice,,, just, WOW !!
I love how Jeff would always go beyond his studio versions and pull off some incredible stuff live, I cried a bit when a accepted the fact that I'm not going to see him live.
don't worry about those who press the dislike button, they're probably the same kind of people who get irritated if there's onions in the spaghetti sauce as there will always be those who have no palate.
If someone asks to me to choose one song in his album I think I couldn't do it. Every song has so much power, his album is really magic... This man is incredible... I'm not tired to listen to him.
This recording is GREAT, the ending is more universal in emotion then the studio version. my heart breaks the same way each time I hear it, it's the kind of song I only allow myself to listen to sometimes, because it's that profound, and I don’t want to be numbed by knowing it too well. He’s the only Artist who can have me… completely spellbound emotionally physically… like I said he’s tapped into something universal. I’ve known him...
I just so dig how right after tuning that one string, he goes right in sets the rhythm and tempo so effortlessly and beautifully, damn he was one of a kind.
The great ones die way too soon. Hear that voice and those lyrics, a true artist. kanye west or the bieber kid will probably live to torture us 50 more years. RIP Jeff.

@petrucciado HAHA! You're kidding right?! Muse was hardly founded in 1995. If anything this voice (and Thom Yorke's) is what has inspired Matt's voice.
This is one of the greatest voices in music ever! Even Robert Plant has said that Buckley was a far better singer than himself. Doesn't that say it all?
@JPLV you cannot compare to an artist who played in stadiums with a fifty thousand people with other one that plays in pubs for a hundred people. Are you trying to teach me about music? hahaha :)
@petrucciado You're an idiot. Jeff Buckley no longer "plays" in pubs, because he died in 1997. Two years before Muse's first album. So, I doubt he's imitating Matt, since nobody had heard of him at this point. Muse is a good band, but vocally they've got nothing on Buckley. And before anybody tries to teach you about music, learn grammar.
Here is to statements from Bellamy with 'The Guardian' and 'Heyreverb'
Age 16 at Reading Festival 94':
"and I heard a weird high voice coming out. It blew me away. It wasn’t like any music I’d heard before, and his voice was amazing. It inspired me to have more confidence to sing and be a tenor.”
"I'm into Jeff Buckley's voice a lot too, as he was one of the first male singers who made me comfortable about singing in a female range."
i think everyone here has reamed you enough, but admit that you knew nothing about Jeff Buckley before you made those comments. I'm convinced Jeff would have been extremely famous if he hadn't died so young, after releasing only one album. I don't mind Muse, but they are definitely commercial, and not as special as Jeff, being that they go as far as appearing on Twilight soundtracks. It doesn't really help their street cred or cool factor. : P
@JPLV i believe genetics had something to do with the way Matts voice sounded.he sings in a way comfortable to him, he isnt trying to be anyone but himself :)
I see what Jimmy Page saw in this guy, and why Grace was one of his favorite post-Zeppelin albums. Jeff deserves more credit, of course, but I wasn't the one to catch his appeal from the get-go. Instead, he grows on you like a vine, and just wraps himself around your lungs, to steal your voice. And, then he gives it back to you in the most beautiful package one could possibly ask for. Gone too, too soon.
this is probably one of my favorite Jeff Buckley songs, and the live version really shows what a tremendous singer/guitarist/songwriter Jeff really was. although he utilized a more traditional or folk approach in most of his songwriting, Jeff was fluent in blues and metal guitar. and his lyrics are transcendent. he was a genius!

Not because i don't like it...it's just because i like it to much to be able to listen to it again! Although i do it...and it hurts every time...

Does anyone else find the lyric "Sometimes a man gets carried away, when he feels like he should be having his fun" hauntingly ironic.

@petrucciado Muse wasn't even known at this point. Matt Bellamy is a Thom Yorke wanna be. Thom Yorke admits being vocally inspired by Jeff Buckley.
Majorbludd817 11 months ago
@petrucciado HAHA! You're kidding right?! Muse was hardly founded in 1995. If anything this voice (and Thom Yorke's) is what has inspired Matt's voice.
This is one of the greatest voices in music ever! Even Robert Plant has said that Buckley was a far better singer than himself. Doesn't that say it all?
JPLV 11 months ago
@JPLV you cannot compare to an artist who played in stadiums with a fifty thousand people with other one that plays in pubs for a hundred people. Are you trying to teach me about music? hahaha :)
petrucciado 11 months ago
@petrucciado You're an idiot. Jeff Buckley no longer "plays" in pubs, because he died in 1997. Two years before Muse's first album. So, I doubt he's imitating Matt, since nobody had heard of him at this point. Muse is a good band, but vocally they've got nothing on Buckley. And before anybody tries to teach you about music, learn grammar.

Stay ignorant if you want to, that's fine.

@petrucciado
i think everyone here has reamed you enough, but admit that you knew nothing about Jeff Buckley before you made those comments.
