I think the best performances were with the original band members with James Lowe at vocals, a group of friends who started the band and had the special sound
@jgray110 James Lowe did not sing any of the original vocals on the album Release of an Oath, from which the song, 'Holy Are You' originated. Release of an Oath was re-release in 2006. The original recording was made in 1968 for Reprise Records, and is now available through Collectors Choice Music. I was there for the recording and I was the one who sang all the vocals on this album...check out the liner notes for the re-issue, and you will read the facts....Richard Whetstone
@jgray110 Richard is correct. None of the band members from Lowe's original group played on any of the Axlerod projects, all studio cats including one of my favorite guitar players
@AndrewLarsson - The original vocals from the '68 recording remain the quintessential version, sung by another Richard (Whetstone) and sampled by Rakim - Holy Are U - Seventh Seal and Ali & Gipp to name a few)
just fantastic....

I take it back, I think Jim Lowe may have sang on "Mass In F Minor", not sure.

Great voice and Mr. Axelrod is simply the best at what he does.
