  • 4:30 that was a f**** attack :D

  • Why do we have to be better or worse than someone else? Can't we each be valued for what we contribute by just being and sharing our gifts? I know that sounds really preachy in type, but I genuinely feel so. I think Lady Gaga is great for what she does and Satch is awesome for what he does. Can't we all just get along? :) Have a good one everyone!

  • Yep Satch is Yoda and Vai is Obi Wan!

  • haha fuckin feelin it !

  • I like Dave LaRues' playing a lot and I've been a Morse fan for years but in this case I prefer Stu Hamm but that being said this is still awesome.

  • I know all the words to this song!

  • The Master of Timing...God!

  • great performance.. although Satch isn't my favorite guitarist...I have to admit, when he's in the zone he's hard to top. I wish he would do more songs like this ... introspective and soulfull ... much better than Satch Boogie or Summer Song, for example.

  • That bassist also played at G3 with John Petrucci.

  • this is fuckin outstanding!!! satch never fails to amaze me!!!

  • How does he have a JS2400 in 2007? He must have been holding that prototype for a long time.

  • @BaneOfXistence4 hes got a new one he used for the jimi tour that he had a prototype for awhile. also Ice9 pedal hes had since dec when working with vox. i bet hes got a ton of prototypes not purchasable by the public... Yet

  • @BaneOfXistence4 not a js2400..that is just a white js1000..the js2400 has 24 frets and does not have a double humbucker set up in the neck position.

  • altho the audio is not bad but does someone hav a better version?

  • how does he make that sound at 2.06

  • @budsyremo It's a pinched harmonic and it's done with the pick. Do a search for them. Very easy to do.

  • @budsyremo his rig allows him to pull feedback with just holding one note. ive noticed him do it alot mostly on G string since its quickest way for feedback.

same thing if u held your guitar up to your amp for 5 secs or so. But with his tone it's more celestial soothing then over the top feedback..... theres a fine fine line thats for sure

  • No comments,JOE SATRIANI ...

  • i don't know what i'll listen to when he'll be gone. He truly inspires me in this godless world. So humble and most of the time i feel as if his guitar is telling a story to everybody.u rock joe. Forever joe.

  • This was one of the greatest shows I have ever been too!!! Satch is the SHIT!!! I scored four picks from the show. There were less than 50 people there, can you f'ing believe that?

  • well, after having whatching that what can we say.......great! greattissima!!

  • wow

    the solos here

    satch at his best

    relaxed

    improvising

    having fun

i'd love to have a jam with that man

  • yeah, "echo" without that bassline is not the same, and of course it's amazing coz satch wrote that bassline, and the whole song, that's why the song is a complete masterpiece full of feeling, when I play it, my eyes feels like crying

  • bassline makes this song............ well obviously the ridiculouly amazin guitar playing plays a large factor........ but that bass line sets up that beautiful feel.

  • my stupid wireless mouse made me click on 4 stars instead of 5, this video deserves 5 stars!

  • it's because the battery's were running low on it.

  • and i will assure it does get that 5 stars for ya....

    :D

  • Oh my god, this a truely inspirational performance...

  • why is he not as popular as...lets say lady gaga??!?!?1 I am not getting why people like that crap!!! this is real music!!!

  • Because lady gaga has a vagina.

  • ....I dont think that at all by the way... :| I think it is just what the media deems 'popular'...lol look at what you loosers said about obama...'he will fix things fast'....NO it takes YEARS to fix a fuck up that big...same thing here it is what the majority wants....and you know what? looking at that race in conjunction with other things you idiots have done ill say this,

the band wagon sucks ass...and all those who follow will perish

special thanks to bush for fucking up our future~

  • No he doesn't.

    ohno he didntz

  • @igknightus Because the masses aren't musicians nor talented enough to play an instrument. They just think it's a bunch of jumbled notes. Lady Gaga on the other hand, is simplistic and common, therefore, they love it. Anything complicated confuses them.

  • @igknightus Look it's alright but he seems to be off.. I mean the tone has no taste unlike the original track. I am neutral but I think that this isn't quite what I had expected. Sure he's great but this sounds terrible. I like Joe, but there is thinkness to the chorus, when it gets heavy. It just stays the same. And the acoustics suck, they weren't using very many or very good amps.

  • @igknightus Because, mainly due to marketing, most people cannot differentiate between music and entertainment. In the 'modern' world music doesn't have any great inherent value to corporations unless there is an entertainment angle to help 'push' it.

Thankfully, we now have the internet so £$&* corporate music and the people that never grow out of it. Leave 'em to it, you couldn't convince them that JS Bach was a musical genius compared to Lady GaGa let alone Joe Satriani. * Deep breath *

  • @igknightus Lady gaga is Industrially created music for the "Sheep" of the world... its sad because i have yet to find some one as passionate about every aspect of the music they listen to because its all crap... this will hold up with its fans for years and years.. were gaga will make a "New" song in a few months and it will sound like shit... again lol

  • @igknightus He was as popular as lady gaga... 20 years ago.

  • staunch tune.

  • you must have been right behind me..lol...nice surprise to see this..what took so long?...thanks for another awesome memoir of an amazing event..see my vids

  • echo on time machine album was the best ever.

  • slap that bass boy stu is the man

ya just gotta pop it no that not it

    satch the man

  • That's actually Dave LaRue playing bass.

  • pwned

  • 5 stars all the way from the beginning to the very end !

  • While i love Joe and every song he plays, i would have given my left nut to see and hear this song live when he was in Australia, i must say though,( and this is my opinon) thats this version is Joe trying to play it like the album version. While its unreal in its own right and i have listened to it hear at least 15 times, i must say that the recoreding of it at the 1988 jazz festival is the best. Just my opion though guys dont shoot me down

  • completely agree i wont shoot you down lol

  • the version of Echo on the Time Machine double CD is probably my favorite Satch song...if you haven't gotten a hold of that CD try to get a copy. I stumbled onto a copy at Tower Records (RIP) down in San Francisco

  • Dave plays with Petrucci now too. John is a HUGE Dregs/Morse fan

  • this has got to be a much better version thn da old one in youtube (1988 jazz festival)

  • f%ck it...satch is still god....

  • Gotta love that 10/8 beat!!! Wonder why he doesn't play this often at live shows though :(

  • Anyone know who the bass player is?

  • Dave LaRue - he played with Steve Morse and the Dixie Dregs

  • where is stu ??

  • WOW. This version is incredible...LOVE it.

  • I don't know how many times I've watched this video!

  • Pity the bass isn't higher up in the mix.

I'm not a bass player, but this song is best seen from that perspective.

  • This guy should wear his pants outside his trousers he is that good. I need another 50 years to get that good.

  • one of the best joe's video i've ever seen...simply great!

  • Joe Satriani keeps me motivated to play, learn, and challenge my ability. Steve Vai was his apprentice correct?

  • correct

  • @Aldryami I agree with you,his not just playing,his feeling/living.Everytime, Satriani in my idols,cause I can feel ! =)

  • @Aldryami yea satch taught vai when they were teenagers, satch 15 and vai 13 i believe, vai knocked on satches door with a pack of strings and a guitar and asked for help.

  • I should say this a song I really respect.

A perfect mix of harmony, melody, odding and playing.

This is that one song that I would be able to play in an air guitar in any time.

_And this is the report of a drummer.

  • for sure you could be invited to play it Felipe, I saw your Echo video, you rock dude too.

  • Why didn´t they invite me ....

  • nice surfing top hes wearing too... wish I had been there, I saw him in Manchester a few months ago... first time seeing him live ! certainly wont be the last !!

  • I wish I was that good at anything

  • cool performance, it was one day before my birthday...

  • Sweet, but DAMN...this song NEEDS Stu on Bass (in my opinion)

  • This was a special show commemorating the 20th anniversary of Surfing With The Alien. Filmed during the show at the Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco - only 40 people there.

  • Wish I had been there. Nice version.

  • Thanks wench this is great.
