@xafnndapp Yes, I agree, but don't you know that most great singers succumb to sing this gorgeous crap when nearing retirement? Undoubtedly too embarrassed to sing it while in their primes. But why not? A beautiful aria repeated ad nauseam with endless opportunities to piano, spitfire duets, a ditzy ballet, a hysterical, ludicrously over the top Recital, and a supremely idiotic death scene. And all this to some lovely music! sit back and enjoy………the supreme party opera!
How the hell such a great singer decided to record this role that has NOTHING to share with her??

@thomastmwc that's absurde. Definitely Sutherland had a great technique, but she had NOTHING to do with verismo.
