Good sir, they're called Hack n' Slash or Action games. I'm not too sure. Beat 'em ups are games like River City Ransom and Castle Crashers. But I do agree, God of War isn't about combos or skill at all. It's about brutality and simple things children enjoy. Even though the game's not for children....
