Every time I attempt it, I get a negative audio tone from my PC and the phone is not recognized by iTunes, redsn0w, or any other utility, though the screen is blank. I have a suspicion that the battery in this phone is toast or maybe the connection to the logic board is bad.Does anyone out there have experience dealing with an iPhone 4 with a completely dead battery?

I can put the phone into recovery mode while connected to my computer but the phone cannot be restored. During the restore process, the phone will try to reboot and get stuck in the endless apple cycle. I have managed to put the phone into DFU mode a few times and attempted to restore with stock ipsw and also with pwned DFU mode and custom firmware. It seems that the phone no longer will go into DFU mode.

When plugged into the wall, the phone will boot to the lock screen with the "connect to iTunes logo." When disconnected from power the phone will immediately shut off and is non-responsive. When plugged into my computer's USB port the phone will show the apple logo for 10 sec or so then reboot, incessantly.

You don't have to delete it. just cut it out from there and then paste it on your desktop. This way you can move it back to where it was to avoid facing problems with your other applications which need the host file to function.

I had error 21 and was clueless for a day. I just ran the jailbreak again through redsnow and everything came back. The original problem happened while trying to update to 5.0.1 which I still didn't do yet.
