think for a second though. Mindcrime, one of their most popular albums, was the brainchild of Geoff. Hear In The Now Frontier was DeGarmo's brainchild, and was one of their weakest albums. I would've been seriously worried if that was the direction Chris would've wanted to take the band. I miss Chris too, but they've put out some good stuff since he left too. (Mindcrime II and American Soldier)
brainchild yes but Chris and Michael were the ones that turned the story into such a powerful musical masterpiece!as for hear in the now frontier,i think they were not working as a unit and Chris wasn't concetrated on the band!anyway, the classic lineup together can make magic,so i'm looking for a reunion
actually, Chris had more input on that album than he did with any other. 90% of the songs were written by him, he even SUNG one of them himself! Chris ain't coming back, we've gotta accept it, that's why i choose to focus one the negatives from when he was in the band. Makes it easier to accept that he ain't around anymore.
@sickspastic HITNF was an attempt to copy the success of Empire believe it or not. At the time 1 member of the band was literally out of money and Chris had to keep him of the streets along with his family, the rest of the band Including Geoff were without motivation after all their work on Promised Land were blown out the window as it didnt do 25% of Empires sales. So there was a desperate need for another commercial album. The music of the time was alternative/grunge and HITNF was an attempt
@rknrll1 there's nothing grunge about HITNF. it was an alternative Rock album and it was still pretty good. Also, maybe Promised Land didn't sell as well as Empire but it was still their third best seller (it went Platinum along with Mindcrime. Empire was multi-platinum).
@j800r It was certified platinum because record companies shipped out over 1,000,000 but soundscan wise it only shifted about 750k. Still their 3rd best seller, but they new that It was a huge fall from Empire which went 3x platinum and if they wanted to stay on top it was time to go commercial again, unfortunately for them it flopped.Chris was now in a failing band who's members were in turmoil going through divorces and weren't even talking to each other anymore so he left at a good time IMO
@rknrll1 HITNF made me realize the once progressive, edgy and thought provoking days of QR may be at an end...Even with Chris something didn't feel right about the dramatic change in style on HITNF. Once I heard Chris had left I knew ever returning to their roots was probably never going to happen... I enjoyed some songs since and most of OM2, but for me Promised Land was their last real album.... Wish they could have kept progessing and challenging our minds!!! RIP QR
this song was intended to be a full blown ryche rock song, as GT sat next to MW on a piano bench in the studio going over his vocals for the song, the sound guy pushed the record button, the album recording we hear was just the second time GT had sung the whole song, when they heard the playback, they knew it was true majic, the full blown version is very different, with kammens orchestration another great version, butt the simple piano singer version is my fav RYCHE-N-ROLL \nn/
This was a great tour! I saw them at Cal Expo in Sacramento, CA and it was great to see the piano in the middle of the stage. Promised Land is my favorite Queensryche album.
Incredible meaning, and different I'm sure, for everyone. I love this song, probably one of my favorites from anyone. One of the greatest modern vocalists and incredible in concert.
he speaks my thoughts, who are the sirens deep in my mind singing songs of doubt? are they me? who ever they are they are singing very loud right now,but i cant give up
One of my favorite songs from Queensryche. Geoff really sings his heart out on this one! But then again, he sings that way on EVERY song! One of my biggest inspirations both as an artist and as a person.
The voice of an angel...everything he sings moves me in some way...They are the complete package whether live, recorded, unplugged..Not to mention the nicest guys you'll ever meet...Don't ever stop.
My favorite band by far I had the emblem tattooed on my whole back. This moved me deeply.Saw them live 25 times and every time the play within 500 miles I am there
I have liked these guys since the first album. I really like the fact that they try so hard to make the live shows so good. Most bands half ass it live. Especially the vocals. This is if they even remember their own lyrics. Q-ryche does rule!
geoff is badass and degarmo but compared to other bands queensryche has got alot talent becuz they still keep shit rockin' and rollin' at an old age, hope rock comes back.
Geoff....and Queensryche, Thank You for this song. It saved my life..Back when Promised Land was released I was going through a very dark period of my life. I had no reason to continue living...your music was the only uplifting thing in my life. The encouraging message that is this song is very powerful. I drove around at night listening to this song over and over as well as "Another Day" by Dream Theater...searching for a reason to live. I found that reason in this song. Thank you.
@hyelandre Geoffs performance of this song is epic, i can realate to you,,,,,,this song can give you the strength to face your life and deal with things, another day by dream theater is a great song, my song by Dream Theater is Space dye Vest-its good therapy for the mind
I´ve been on that concert in 1995 in Neu-Isenburg, Germany. It was the best concert I´ve ever seen. They played the whole promised land album and some songs from operation mind crime. The videos, that were created for that concert were fantastic. Especially in the beginning, when Geoff wanted to drink and had his mouth full of sand.
Thanks for loading it up. I always wanted to know, what chameleon species was shown at the end of someone else. Seems to be a dilepis.
Promised Land tour was amazing. I wish they would have released a concert dvd of it.
