in a toss up i think it's the S for me mahogany just has that growl... it's also lighter than an RG... neck is a little thicker on the korean S models (s2170) like the one i have but the new ones (s5470) are made in japan (that's good) and have the skinnier neck of the RG's so it's kinda the best of both worlds... like i said the S definately does it for me over the RG.. but all that really matters is which one u like better .. u know?

i want to buy s2170 or rg2550. can anyone tell me something about s2170? is it any good? i heave played rg2550 and it is fucking great but i want to know is maby s2170 better. great playing man:)

i love mine:) as to which guitar is better it's pretty much personal preference the s2170's neck is a little thicker than the wizard neck on the rg2550 and is 22 frets not 24... don't get me wrong it's no gibson still thin and flat ... just a little thicker than the 2550... the new s5470 has the same neck and number of frets as the rg2550 check it out on the ibanez website... for me the s body is just more comfortable and the guitar is really light .... hope that helps

yep those are the ones i was talking about they make the 81tw and the 89 which is the tapable version of the 85... i'm a little more partial to the 85/89, i like the alnico magnet sound better than the cerramic magnets in the 81's everybody's got their favorites though

the tone is nice, and i can tell ur playing quiet cuz i can hear u picking, so if the tone on a tube amp is alright when its quiet, when u crank that thing it must be pretty awesome

Not for nothing the digital technology really fucks up your feel of a guitar. I recently got a mesa boogie and found out how versatile a guitar really should sound through an amp.

I dont like the line 6 tone. It fools you into thinking it sounds good but when you pair it up against even a marshall, its apparent that it doesnt sound like a real guitar amp but, more of an immitation which is what it is due to its digital engineering

yeah dude, if you can post a video with a 7 string.. i was guitar shopping grabbed a schecter c-7 hellraiser and plugged into the spider valve, its fucking REDICK..

i'd say grab your 7 go to the Meshuggah or Royalush, play something chuggy, and rythmic, you're face will not melt, but be on the other side of the room. BTW i purchased the 7 sting and i'll be getting this head after i sell my fender, but record something with the 7 string!
