@blackfeatherarchery Considering what I'm trying to convey here, I find your advice to me kind of funny. I'd think it should be obvious that I consider myself American. Still, it's been a while since I made this video, so who knows... maybe that didn't come across as clearly as I'd like.
The way to answer this Question is to evaluate first, the effect on the USA if we didn't make all of the contributions to the US. If we hadn't been here who knows what the USA would have been like. I believe that the USA would have been weaker with out us. Life would have been Different for Everyone! Don't let him lead you from his point of view. At this point who cares. It is about the here and now. Don't waste time on woulda coulda shoulda
Well said my brother! I'm sick and tired of these Cash&Carry Coons insulting and looking down on us, and thinking we owe them....HELL DO WE! Granted there are a few diamonds among the shit, but they are too few and far between! I hate having to generalise, but when you get stupid idiots spewing shite from their uneducated mouths....it make it difficult to to see them as anything but unfortunate soulless things.
@GoinBack2Naija Why must you assume that our black brothers, are messed up, sure there are a large sum of fucked up people, but some are highly educated and all that. We want those brothers in africa
@GoinBack2Naija bitch you just mad we can do better than blacks in africa. i hate when ya talk shit get the fuck out of here. iam black american, thats wit are annsister been call by white man. in you say that word ass a african woman. fuck you
Relative to your comment about being referred to as an "african american," I'd just like to add that white people refer to african americans as such because we believe that's what you prefer to be addressed as. I mean, we started with the word negro, then black, then african american. what is the politcally correct name now a days? I know some would say "american" but I'd submit that a lot of black americans still want their own identifying label. Am i wrong? thanks.
I'm Nigerian-American & I can tell you this. In Africa or at least Nigeria, there are ppl w/ mansions & cars, who hold high social statures. My fam back home would spit upon the ghetto Black Americans here who have no jobs & no ambition. You can't generalize Africans & say we are poor ppl w/ terrible lives when there are blacks here, even whites living in trailer parks, on the streets, etc.. In Africa, if I walk down streets, my color is exalted. Some places in America, I am looked at as trash.
@lovelyleyley Continuation: But I can also say that growing up in New York, I am exposed to so many cultures and so many people. I love being Nigerian and I love being American. It doesn't matter where in the world you live as long as you hold on to the essentials; family, love, culture and goals. We as people will fail in life, no matter our color, if we do not possess those things.
@lovelyleyley I definitely agree with you on most of your points, particularly on generalizing Africans (though I must point out that I did point out there were great places to live in Africa in the video.). Ultimately, whatever problems a group of people have, they aren't exclusive to skin color, as we can find examples of these problems all over the world. These are human problems, and need to be acknowledged as such.
@Swordsage Ma brother 4get @GoinBack2Naija, such guys are too way brain washed to realize anything, u can stay here or go back to Africa, but man Africa is Home thts why ur reminded of that anytime by sm racists "nigger go back to Africa" ever heard of that?? u get that even if u were born and raised in the west. We are natives of Africa, we can choose to live anywhere we want bt Africa remains Home 4 mi!
@jijilog Then you're an idiot, and we have nothing more to talk about. You're wasting my time.
Your attitude is the exact same attitude that perpetuates racism to begin with. And you're too stupid to see that all you're doing is hating people with the exact same ancestry as you, which makes them JUST LIKE YOU. The only difference is looks, which is something that evolved over time because of differences in climate. pick up a book on science sometime, if you can actually read.
@Swordsage Oh, and I'm not impressed at all with you ranting and raving about how you fight for your race. So does the Klu Klux Clan. Doesn't make you special. IN fact it makes you exactly the same as they are. They think you're evil because you have dark skin, you think they're evil because they have light skin. And you're both idiots, because you;re both human beings with the same drives, wants, and desires as any other human.
Noam Chomsky has been talking about how the US has completely fucked over Haiti, even to this day, and has been trying to get people to see the crimes the US has done to other nations with non white peoples. Chomsky is a WHITE GUY.
Martin Bernal has written Black Athena, a three volume work talking about the black origins of Egypt, and how western civilization owes their start to Africans. He's a WHITE GUY.
@Swordsage Haveing fun defending white peoplp? wow, to bad they dont return the favor! Anyway, you no what i meant when I said blks have melon, whites have very little melon, its its not very natruel, youknow that! But you love , your exslave master so much I see you will stop at nothing to defend as race that have devistated yours! Sicko cell is only found it blks, not whites, what do u get out of this, king already tryed that shit u doing, it sont work! Learn from history son!
Every body is decendants of thee original race! The blk race! But everybody is not black! Their is a such thing as race! Ours is blk! You see Mexican have no problem saying they brown! Chines have no problem saying they yellow, Indiand have no problem saying their RED! ONLY BLKS! WHO ARE SO SELF HATED!
@jijilog Bullshit. THe only people who call themselves yellow, brown and so on are those who are exposed to western culture, since modern western culture was influenced by racists who wanted to divide everyone up with those terms.
Again, pointing out that most of us are shades of brown, tan, and pink is NOT self hatred. That's just stupid. Self hatred would be if you hated yourself BECAUSE you had dark, brown, tan, or whatever color skin, or a certain type of hair.
@Swordsage to prove this, look at me. I'm a dark skinned guy with dreadlocks. IF I hated being "black" I wouldn't go around looking like this, would I?
I can see you're not someone who actually spends a lot of time thinking. You spend most of your time reacting to things, instead of actually paying attention to what is actually being said. I'm going to have to ask you to stop typing, watch the video and read my words again. There is NOTHING I'm saying that's actually offensive.
@Swordsage No offence, but Whoopi Goldberg wear dreed lock, and she says some crazy things, she said we are not black, we are Americans! Leeny Kravics had locks, he is very white washed, locks can be just a hair style for some blks! The bootm line is, yes we all come from the original race, the black race!
But whites and others do not want to identify with Africa, or Africans! So what are you, Humans have different races, to like Cat have different breeds! Get Real!
@jijilog Notice that you brought up that cats have different breeds. Yet what do we call them? CATS.
Do we say that a Prussian blue is more superior to a Siamese? No. It's stupid, isn't it? After all, at the end of the day, a cat is a cat.
It's funny that when it comes to humans however, the differences MUST be accentuated, to the point where you would ratter call yourself a black man instead of a human being. It says a lot about your mind works. You've completely forgotten why you fight.
@Swordsage Think about it.... why are black people fighting? Because they're rights are being unrecognized as, and being treated as less than... what, exactly?
LESS THAN HUMAN.
The whole struggle is for black people to be recognized for what they are: HUMAN BEINGS.
And here you are trying to lambast me because I want to be seen as what I should be treated as: A HUMAN BEING.
You're a human being first. Your skin color comes second. If you insist otherwise, you may NEVER win the fight..
@Swordsage yA NEED TO COME OUT YOUR LITTLE FANASTY! iTS NOT A REALITY SWORDAGE! OK!
Your trying to create a pretend world like micheal jackson! And you saw what happen to him! Yes whites are different than blacks and visa versa! Nothing wrong with it! We get sicka cell they dont! We have A chemical in our bodys called ((MELON) Whites dont! WHITE HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF ((SERIAL KILLERS)) BLKS DONT!
Why? because its not in are nature! Yes we are all different! So what! Its a known fact!
@jijilog Someone doesn't know anything about biology....
Sickle cell is just a form of anemia. White people get anemia you know.
Melanin is something that EVERYBODY HAS. Yes, white people DO have melanin. Otherwise they wouldn't be able to tan. Oh, and the freckles you see on their faces and bodies? Those areas are packed with melanin.
@Swordsage You know after carefully listening to your little low view video blog sir! I notice you siad you had a hard time intetgrating, in white neighbor hoods!, What the problem sowrdsage, you thought whites have changed? Dont be upset, most race's want tolive around their own, you know BIRDS OF A FEATHER! Yes the problem with blacks like u is! Yall suffer from amnisha!
You tend to forget Martin L Kings mistake! TRYING TO CIVILIZE WHITES!
@jijilog Did you just say you can't tame the wild? That's the exact same thing they said about us. Once again, all you're doing is proving to me that you are just as bad as they are.
@Swordsage Every race do have savages, but no one can out savage the white race!! Thier evil effectsthe whole planet! Everywhere they go they kill, the people who live their, Look at Australi! How those (WHITE DEVILS00 Did the ABORIGINIS!
AND THE NATIVE AMERICANS, AFRICAS, JAPPNESESE, CANT NO ONE LIVE NEXT TO THEM IN PEACE! AND THAT A KNOWN FACT!! MR MARTIN L KING jr the 2nd! THAT KING I HAD A DREAM SHIT IS OUT DATED! YOUNG MAN!
@Swordsage Sounds to me MR SWORDSAGE, YOUR STILL STUCK IN THE 60'S When blks where trying to be nice the these (WHITE DEVILS)) With a attemp to show how human we are to a pack of whites who are in the majorty when it comes to being a evil((SAVAGE!) Thats been done already SWORDSAGE!
In slavery, we where nicer to them then ourselfs! And in the the 20th centary!
(WHERE DID IT GET US?)) No where ! ASK YO SELF! WHO ARE WHIOTES TO BE EQUAL TO! I LOVE MY RACE! DONT WANNA LOVE THEM!
@jijilog Whites are the only group of people who have been savage? You really that naive?
Every group of people has shown their capacity to be some of the most savage bastards to ever walk the earth. It's not just white people. Look at what happens in places like the Congo, where Africans are butchering each other. Or how about the rape of Nanking, when the Japanese committed brutal acts like rape and murder EN MASSE against the Chinese.
You are seriously uneducated. Books are your friend.
@Swordsage NOTHING! Your saying makes anysence! dude, your makeing a big issue over nothing !! bottom line is 99 .9 of the people who are blk idenify, with being blk! WHAT SHOULD WE CAL OURSELF? BROWN PEOPLE,NAPPY HEAD PEOPLE? No we call ouself black, because black is the root! Of whence we came! You seem to like to forget! I dont! Should whites call themself pink people!? Thats crazy, and silly! SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU SUFFER FROM SELF HATE, LOTS OF DARK SKIN BLKS DO!
@jijilog Actually, there is something else you could call yourself instead of black:
HUMAN BEING.
But apparently, you're too caught up in skin color to remember that you are a human being. And yeah, "black is the root", but calling yourself black because it's "the root" just means that white people can too. They're also descendants, remember?
You also seem to be mentally dense. Again, if I suffered from self hatred, I wouldn't be wearing dreadlocks, nimrod.
Sir what meaningless about coming from black kings, and queens? We are still blk!
And nothing else! No natter what your skin color is! Its not even debatable! Go do a crime! And see what 99 percent of the people would desribe you as!
A blk man with lock, if you lord forbid did somthing wrong! Or if you was famous! Like Micheal Jackson who bleach is face to look white! At the end of his life! He was reconized! As tHE BLACK kING OF POP! EVEN MJ NEVER DENIED BEING BLK! SIR!
@jijilog It's meaningless to try to claim descendant of a particular group of people as if you are the ONLY descendants. YOU ARE NOT. EVERYBODY is a descendant of Africans. that includes white people. What part of this isn't getting into your head?
I also have to ask where in anything I said in the video, or in my comments to you, do I deny being a black man in terms of being someone with African features? I was talking about actual skin color here! Seriously, are you that dense?
It was t us the B.F.F.C AND NATION OF ISLAM, AND OTHERS WHO WITH OUT AND GOT >>>>>>ItSignatures, to get that racist white Judge of the beanch in compton! That gave tha was The B.F.F.C!
AND GROUPS LIKE NATION OF ISLAM! Who gor over 60,0000 t Korean 4 years probation! For murder, of a child!
MY STRONG BLACK RACE! THEIRS NOTHING LEFT, BUT TO SAY BLACK! WE ARE NOT BROWM=N! MEXICANS ARE BROWN! WE ARE DESEDENTS OF ANCIENT BLACK VERY DARK COAL BLACK AFRICANS! SO WE ARE BLK! NO NATTER HOW OUR SKING HAVE CHANGE! THE ROOT, AND GENITIC'S IN OUR D.N.A! AND BLOOD! WILLALWAYS BE BLK SIR!
@jijilog *sigh* you apparently don't study enough.
Black is not, nor never has been, an accurate, scientific description of who we are. When you say "we're not brown, mexicans are brown", you're just buying into the titles and thinking they can define the totality of a people. That's just plain stupid.
And I humbly ask you to show me direct evidence that "Kmet:" stands for the race. Every translation I've seen for it says "black LAND", not "black PEOPLE". You mind showing me your source?
@Swordsage Thank u all we have is pride! But we must have the right type of pride! Rightous pride is! good! I dontlike violence! But sometime u have to fight fire with fire! Ive been beat by cops 4 times! One time I had enough and just 2 months after Roney King Beating! I went to jail for assult on a police officer! Because this time ! I hit and kicked that cop in his dam! face! Idid 5 months in jail! I got out just in feberay 1992! just in time for the LA UPRISING APRIL 29,1992
@jijilog Oh, and lastly, EVERYBODY is a descendant of very dark skinned people. so your statement about us being their descendants is meaningless. That, by the way, was the whole point of the end of my video: that EVERYBODY owes their existence to the emergence of ancient Africans. If you don't want to accept that, that means you WANT the race fighting to continue.
@latrrrina Wow, yet another idiot. Why must I always have to deal with black people who make the rest of us look like a bunch of mental nulls?
You have all the marks of the usual American numb skull: not paying attention to what's actually being said, acting exactly like the people you condemn by stereotyping all of them to act only one way, using sexual orientation as an insult... hell you even use the all caps thing.
Thanks for making blacks look stupid. Your reward: you get blocked.
@Swordsage Well its close enough for me!! And we need somthin to identify with! Black is what The word (KEMET)) MEANT! Befor the white man named It Egypt! KEMET MEANT >>THE LAND OF BLACKS! AFRICANS NAMED IT THAT!
I am blk and proud! And in the words of JAMES BALDWIN! A very famous Black writers!! Who said! I quote! As long as Whites call themselfs White!
I will always call my self Black! Black power was somthing we took pride in!
@jijilog That we need something to identify with I am not disputing. I'm just pointing out its inaccuracy. We use inaccurate statements all the time when we communicate everyday, But in order to be a human who is more aware of the world around them, you need to pay attention to such things.
On pride, you say it's "black power" you take pride in, not just being a black person. Great. My question then to you is, have you contributed to this? Again, pride goes with PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT.
MESSAGE TO BLKS ONLY! DONT YOU JUST HATE WHEN NEGROS LIKE THIS GAY IN THIS VIDEO! ALWAYS, TRYING SO HARD NOT TO OFFEND WHITE FOLKS! IN THEIR VIDEOS? SHAME!!!!!
@amauris2121 WOW CONGRALATIONS! AMAURUS2121! I SEE THIS UNCLE TOM HAVE THE SOPPORT OF THE WHITE CRACKER ASSOCIATION! AKA (KKK) LOL!
THEY EVEN CALLED AMARURIS2121 ARTICULATE! THAT MEANS UNLIKE MOST NEGROS! AMAURIS2121 CAN SPEAK AND THINK! LOL! HAHA!! AMAURIS2121 IS A SPECAIL NEGRO TO HIS WHITE AUDIENCE, THAT HE OBVIOUSLY SPENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE TRYING TO PLEASE! ONLY RACIST WHITES AGRREE WITH AMARUS2121 THE SAMBO! BECAUSE AMARUSIS2121! IS A SELL OUT TOM! RACE TRADER!
It is just FOX programming and propaganda that the Tea Parties are all Nazi racists, to divide, conquer and herd the sheep... Check out a video by Bertly71 and Alex Jones on fairinfowar. Thank you for sharing your views. Cheers.
Good arguments by the way. I like the way you're addressing such topics. And yeah, following ancestry we are all African Americans, African Europeans, African Asians... blah. =)
Ancestry is completely irrelevant to me, and I've never understood how so many people get so excited about it and are even proud of some long dead and gone people with whom they just happen to share more genes than with others and who they've never met. *shrug*
I had to smile when you talked about "white" people not being actually white and "black" people not actually black... that's exactly my thoughts, but the way you were formulating it was kind of amusing (in a positive way). As far as I'm concerned, color blindness is the ideal. And this whole "African American" and "Asian American" and-so-on junk annoys me anyway... nobody calls anyone "European American" or "Caucasian American" or BS like that.
We were here in the americas long before so called white people(ALBIONS) existed and yes i said existed u kids are new to this planet. For more info check out on youtube REVOLUTIONINK videos are called UNTOLD BLACK HISTORY. PEACE
This is a very interestin subject, i can say so much but i'll make it short and give u guys a reference to learn more on the subject. First off i noticed that many people believe that so called black people were btought over to the americas as slaves and thats how we got here but thats not the full truth. So called blacks populated the globe not just africa.
As an African American, a woman, and an atheist, I don't know if I'm better off staying here in the US or living in Africa. There are some places in both America and Africa, where I'd be okay. Also, there are places here in America and in Africa where I'd be killed or incredibly discriminated against more for being an atheist.
Great Video. When I filled out the census I chuckled. It had three categories for my so-called ethnicity it was Black, African American, and Negro. I just listen to a podcast about this called skepticality. We all evolved in Africa there is only one species Homo Sapien Sapien.
I recently had to fill in an application form for the national bentchmark test, which requred you specify wether you were black, white, coloured ect. If I had seen this vid beforehand I might have been tempted to tick other and fill in light beige. XD
I am from South Africa, one of the better of countries. There are problems here but I would rathere be here than anywere else in Africa. Although we have considered leaving because of the uncertainty of this countries future there is plenty of room for economic growth.
I think we will be taking our chances here but if I get a job offer from a 1st world country that is better than what I have got here I wont think twice
Great video, voiced many thoughts I've had. An interesting side note, you can be African American and 'white'. For example a white South African could emigrate to America and could classify themselves as such.
the common perception of Africa is Liberia which is funny because the largely American image of Africa comes from a place where at a time the saw alot of American influence
I really loved that you touched on the fact that our species originated in Africa. That's the exact reason why I shudder to use the label "African-American"; not only does it ignore the fact that someone's ancestors could have lived in a place other than Africa for a decent amount of time, but also because ultimately we ALL come from Africa. The difference in our DNA is far more slight than what our labels would lead us to believe. I would love to get away from labels like black/white entirely
@Swordsage This is a very interestin subject, i can say so much but i'll make it short and give u guys a reference to learn more on the subject. First off i noticed that many people believe that so called black people were btought over to the americas as slaves and thats how we got here but thats not the full truth. @Swordsage Kinda like how only East Asians are referred to as asian, and not Hindus, Russians, or any other group that lives on the friggin' continent.
@Swordsage I find that kind of interesting. The idea of being called african american suggests that you have imagrated to america. example; i have european heritage, obviously, being white, but i am not called a european american. No one is called a european american unless they have themselves imagrated. Shouldn't people born in america regardless of color be simply american.
@rexmundi6 That's how I feel about it. But the fact that dark skinned people are still called that hints at how well integrated in society they really are.
@Swordsage Ok lets keep it real! And 100! We judge most, people and most race, religion, and creed. On our past experience! I am black, both my parents are black! My mom tend to see, a more vivid reality about whites then my dad, who is now dead! My mom dont hate whites, she says they have a more decetful back stab nature, then blks, going by her experince on jobs, school so forth! She let white's close to her, and she got burnt! My experince is about the same, but im not racist!
@Swordsage I like being called black! Some black people skin realy is charcol black! Go to Africa! You will see! I say I am black becouse in the beganing black people where actually blk! So I say black because blk is my roots! And we should not for get! And yes ive seen some pretty chalky white white people in my life! So it is what it is! The land in Africa called (KEMET)
Meant, THE LAND OF BLACKS! Named by Africans! Not whites!
@jijilog Not to burst your bubble, but something can look black, but not actually be. Take hair for instance. Most people think we have "black" hair, but hold it up to lght and you can see the brown shine through. Or wallet: Rub a piece of tissue on it and you'll find it's actually a concentrated green. There's appearance, and then there's reality. I'm pointing at the reality. You're focusing on appearance. Now, that's your prerogative, but it's not reality.
@Swordsage Now, if you like being called black, that's fine. In the end, it's just a title, and I'll admit to using the term myself. But I'm not deluded enough to think it's the totality of who we are. "White" and "black" are just titles that don't even accurately portray most of our skin colors, and people put way too much stock in them. Case in point: being "proud" to be black or white. You didn't chose to be black, and you didn't work at it. So what's there to be proud of? A chance happening?
@Swordsage Finally, the part about Africa being Kmet is WRONG. It's the name for ancient EGYPT, NOT AFRICA. Go look it up.
And even with its name meaning, it doesn't necessarily point to the people; it could also point to the LAND. It just means "Burnt (black) land," not "land of the black people." Again, look it up.
But let's say it does. So what? True it shows who was really there, but does that mean people were really jet black? Japan is called "land of the rising sun"; does the sun rise?
@Swordsage Sir I have put my life on the line for my race! I live in L.A CALI!
This is a killing field! Where cops kill unarmed blks! Ive been in 3 different organizations, like the B.F.F.C Black Freedom Fighter Coaligion! Please excuse my bad spelling! LoL! But are gaol and 1990 to 1993 Was to raise the mind of blks who hate themself, and dont understand what being A Black African! is all about! We help the bloods and crip to form a truce! Some still work to this day!
@jijilog I am familiar with the crap that black people go through with police in LA. it's the same in NYC where I was born, and it's the same where I live now. That you're fighting against this sort of thing is admirable, and I'll agree that is something to be proud of.
I CANT TROW IT AWAY! MY ANCESSTOR LOVE ME TO MUCH TO FORGET!
MY BLACKNESS! MY ANCESSTOR MARCH WITH WITH PRIDE! SAYING SAY IT LOUD !! IM BLK AND PROUND!! THESE THINGS ARE MEAN ALOT!
IT WOULD BE DISRESPECT! TO THE BLACK PANTHERS! MALCOM X!, MARCUS GARVEY! HUEY P NEWTON! HELL EVEN JAMES BROWN, WHO BOLDLY WROTE THE SOUND !!>> SAY IT LOUD ! I AM BLK AND PROUD!! AND MANY BLKS WHO FOUGHT IN OUR 1992 L.A UPRISING! RISK THEIR LIFES
@jijilog Man, chill out. First, please stop using all caps. Second, you're severely missing the point. At the end of my video my bringing up the terms black and white were about showing how they weren't accurate color descriptions for us. You're bypassing that and thinking I'm saying we shouldn't use the word "black". You have to pay attention to the points people bring up if you are going to debate them. If you don't want to, then that just means you're here to make noise.
@ Swordsage When the 15 year old girl latasha Harlins was killed by a Korean groccery store Merchant, because she acused this 15 year old girl of stealing a orange juice! Latasha just 15 years old was shot in the back of the head! The korean lady got 4 years probation ! no jail time!
@NikiDaDude Usually African Immigrants. Its a wonder how we'll refer to their children born in the US. But Obama gets called black and I imagine most people don't think too much about the difference when they refer to him as a 'black' president.
Bro, we call dark skinned people from Haiti "African Americans" in this country. We're that ignorant. In the early part of the 20th century we used the term "Negro" to separate certain Americans from others. Then people felt that the term was to divisive, so we started using the term "black" to separate people. But then that was deemed divisive so we started using "African American." Either way, it's just a term we use to say "You're one of us, but not quite." It's bullshit.
Johann Blumenbach made up those "classifications". Check out some of his quotes. I don't personally like to validate his bullshit by using some words he pulled out of his racist ass.
In my opinion, saying a "black man" is better off in the US than he is in Africa is like saying it's better to be married to a cheating, lying whore, than it is to be married to a lying, cheating whore with AIDS.
"Love It Or Leave It" is the motto of a coward. We must Improve.
@onlywhenprovoked Thank you for mentioning Blumenbach. I think there's a good chance that if he didn't put out the crap he did, the relationships between races in western civilizations may not have been as bad. I'm not naive enough to think things would have been all groovy, but he didn't help matters at all.
@Swordsage His cranial pseudo science goes hand in hand with the europeans feeling AOK about raping the world. Sadly, I'm sure if he didn't exist then some other racist tool would have come up with similar theories.
I refuse to fill out the race question on Any forms. When it's somehow relevant to whatever it is I'm filling out - then I'll consider it... but I still aint checking off a box that says caucasian. I have a cock, but I'm not in the least bit asian. :P
I always wondered about the Black and White titles, also. Of course, I understand why they chose the colors. When most people think of the color pink, they think of something like "hot pink". When they think of brown, dirt and mud may come to mind. This most likely was not the case when slavery was in practice in the United States, but is it plausible in this time. However, many will probably say they use these words because they were used before them.
One thing is racism of course works both ways. I have always had black friends considering where I grew up. I have been places where I felt I was unwanted. It's not like a white dude walks in and all the black people are like HEY WHITE GUY!!. I think people just like to make easy comparisons with color but should it bother you when someome calls you a black guy? I'm not bothered to be called white. I'm more bothered by the idea that people do not notice how much alike we all really are.
@Monarch816 I'm not bothered to be called "black" either, and honestly I use the term a lot myself. I just like to point out how silly it is.
As far as racism from blacks, hell yes it exists, and I've seen a lot of it. It angers me as much as the racism from whites. Some black people get mad at me for that, saying it's not on the same level. To me, racism is racism period. But it's the hypocrisy of it that gets me the most.
Well the richest part of Africa the life expectancy is only about 43-46. You cannot compare the US slums to what is going on in Africa simply because the healthcare there is horrible , what you see on T.V is not like a bunch of camera man picking a place to go to. It's like that in much of Africa. 400,000+ people died in a single war there. America is not perfect but if you're in a place you do not like you can move , people in Africa are usually to poor to have that option.
I always questioned the criteria people use to decide race. what would it be like if we divided people up by there personality type? if that were the case me and my brother wouldn't be the same race, but me and my wife would be siblings, that's kind of weird.
@NubianTribesman I've actually brought up race before in older videos. I just don't like to because it's still such a charged subject and it's rare to find people on all sides who can discuss it objectively. Still, it's because we don't discuss it objectively that it's still a problem.
As far as current classifications of race, you can blame Johann Blumenbach for that.
Side Note : I grew up in Long Island. I used to live in the mostly black town of Amityville with no problems. Then I moved to the mostly Italian town of Islip, where I did have problems because I was too white.
I understand where you are coming from in that even someone like me who is so white that I am close to being an albino is not really white as in white paper. Still, the term white in regards to skin color is widely understood. Ok, the better term would be pinkish white. =)
1. As a white guy I use the term "African American" because I have black friends who prefer that term. I admit it is silly for me to call myself a white American and not use the term black American. While I am pretty sure none of my ancestors owned slaves I use the term African American as a sign of acknowledgment
to the evil history that blacks have had in America.
2. I have just mentally run through all the African nations, I can't think of one that is doing OK.
Oooooh. I thought you were going to say we're Atlantic American, or Ocean American, since we evolved out of them. All depends how far back we want to go I guess.
There's always some kind of prejudice out in the world...Hang on. I'm going to make a quick vid...
Were not the Africans sold into slavery to the Spanish slave traders captured by other African tribes in exchange for guns? Most people don't know this but actually the slave trade was fueled by an arms race amongst Africans and resulted in several powerful African nations.
Thus... history would have been dramatically altered on both continents. So the question is enigmatic.
hell, if i were to use my ancestry as the label for myself, i'd be labeled as a african-european-irish-american. probably more than that, depending on how much my ancestors liked to dip into other cultures ;)
its funny you mention chris rock, because when i see people with long hair i imagine them with short hair, and when i imagined you with short hair i thought you looked like chris rock. anyway, it was a really good video, and everything you said was spot on. we would all be better off if people took the time to educate themselves on the origins of civilization, and and wouldnt let ignorant ideas of race cloud their vision.
I get the distinct sense that evolution-deniers would probably take offense at being called African-American from that perspective, because if they're Christian, then they think they came from two naked people somewhere in the Middle East, about 6,000 years ago.
Those hyphens really don't last long around me. I like describing someone as American only, just to see the look on peoples' faces.
@JBSauce it's the intelligent way to think about it. unless you were born in africa and had to become a naturalized citizen, you are NOT an African-American. man, when i brought this up in my various social studies classes, i got some strange looks.
@TurboNemesis I'll bet. Funny how bucking the PC trend makes you some sort of weirdo, when you're really just trying to put everyone on the same plane.
Just a quick note on the little text blurb at the start as I can't watch any videos on youtube because I can't download the latest flash player...
The majority of world related studies (I'd say all, actually) are heavily skewed. Comparing a large, diverse population with smaller, less diverse populations just doesn't really work. Especially when said populations are either incredibly dense or incredibly sparse.
@CrimsonEdge38 I think that is a good point, but I also wonder why a diverse population needs to be considered to have to deal with a mandatory inferiority to less diverse ones when it comes to life quality. Large populations, I can see, but it seems the only reason a DIVERSE population would have disparities in living standards amongst them is because of discriminatory practices. Unless there is something I'm missing.
@Swordsage I imagine it has to do with culture. For example, the work ethic of somebody from Iowa or Idaho probably isn't going to be the same as somebody from California.
I think a more accurate approach would be to compare states to each other, and then other countries. Even then, larger states like Texas have an incredible number of cultures all with varying living conditions and quality of life.
@CrimsonEdge38 But to reply to myself, I've always thought that it was more of a cultural thing than a racial thing. I've seen just as many white people subscribe to ghetto culture as black people and come up with the same results.
I mean, it's like The Dude from The Big Lebowsky. Anybody with his work ethic is going to be in the same place he is.
I make a lot of videos about racism and "race" in general. In my daily language, I rarely use color or ethnic descriptives. I've also mentioned our common African ancestry and been ripped to shreds by "white" and "black" supremacists/separatists alike. I think we need to spend more time working on human pride, rather than "white", "black" or "brown" pride...
Man in the video listen you are not african american you are american get over that bullshit,
blackfeatherarchery 5 months ago

Some places in America, I am looked at as trash.
lovelyleyley 1 year ago
@lovelyleyley Continuation: But I can also say that growing up in New York, I am exposed to so many cultures and so many people. I love being Nigerian and I love being American. It doesn't matter where in the world you live as long as you hold on to the essentials; family, love, culture and goals. We as people will fail in life, no matter our color, if we do not possess those things.
lovelyleyley 1 year ago
@lovelyleyley I definitely agree with you on most of your points, particularly on generalizing Africans (though I must point out that I did point out there were great places to live in Africa in the video.). Ultimately, whatever problems a group of people have, they aren't exclusive to skin color, as we can find examples of these problems all over the world. These are human problems, and need to be acknowledged as such.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@GoinBack2Naija You do realize you aren't doing Africans any favors with your statements, right?
One, blacks people here didn't destroy this country. It's still rolling on, and they have no power over it to do any damage.
Two, Africa is going through hell partly because of other Africans, so that makes you guys just as messed up.
Also, where in this video do I say blacks need to go back?
At least you're right when you say that blacks in this country aren't culturally Africans anymore.

Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage Oh, and I'm not impressed at all with you ranting and raving about how you fight for your race. So does the Klu Klux Clan. Doesn't make you special. IN fact it makes you exactly the same as they are. They think you're evil because you have dark skin, you think they're evil because they have light skin. And you're both idiots, because you;re both human beings with the same drives, wants, and desires as any other human.
You're just as fucked as they are.

@Swordsage Lastly, two names I'll drop:
Noam Chomsky has been talking about how the US has completely fucked over Haiti, even to this day, and has been trying to get people to see the crimes the US has done to other nations with non white peoples. Chomsky is a WHITE GUY.
Martin Bernal has written Black Athena, a three volume work talking about the black origins of Egypt, and how western civilization owes their start to Africans. He's a WHITE GUY.
But all white people are devils, right? Moron.

DONT WANNA SAY THEIR BLK! THATS SELF HATE!
jijilog 1 year ago
@jijilog Bullshit. THe only people who call themselves yellow, brown and so on are those who are exposed to western culture, since modern western culture was influenced by racists who wanted to divide everyone up with those terms.
Again, pointing out that most of us are shades of brown, tan, and pink is NOT self hatred. That's just stupid. Self hatred would be if you hated yourself BECAUSE you had dark, brown, tan, or whatever color skin, or a certain type of hair.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage to prove this, look at me. I'm a dark skinned guy with dreadlocks. IF I hated being "black" I wouldn't go around looking like this, would I?
I can see you're not someone who actually spends a lot of time thinking. You spend most of your time reacting to things, instead of actually paying attention to what is actually being said. I'm going to have to ask you to stop typing, watch the video and read my words again. There is NOTHING I'm saying that's actually offensive.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage No offence, but Whoopi Goldberg wear dreed lock, and she says some crazy things, she said we are not black, we are Americans! Leeny Kravics had locks, he is very white washed, locks can be just a hair style for some blks! The bootm line is, yes we all come from the original race, the black race!
But whites and others do not want to identify with Africa, or Africans! So what are you, Humans have different races, to like Cat have different breeds! Get Real!
jijilog 1 year ago
@jijilog Notice that you brought up that cats have different breeds. Yet what do we call them? CATS.
Do we say that a Prussian blue is more superior to a Siamese? No. It's stupid, isn't it? After all, at the end of the day, a cat is a cat.
It's funny that when it comes to humans however, the differences MUST be accentuated, to the point where you would ratter call yourself a black man instead of a human being. It says a lot about your mind works. You've completely forgotten why you fight.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage Think about it.... why are black people fighting? Because they're rights are being unrecognized as, and being treated as less than... what, exactly?
LESS THAN HUMAN.
The whole struggle is for black people to be recognized for what they are: HUMAN BEINGS.
And here you are trying to lambast me because I want to be seen as what I should be treated as: A HUMAN BEING.
You're a human being first. Your skin color comes second. If you insist otherwise, you may NEVER win the fight..

Or how about the rape of Nanking, when the Japanese committed brutal acts like rape and murder EN MASSE against the Chinese.

Oh well, I tried to be reasonable.

I also have to ask where in anything I said in the video, or in my comments to you, do I deny being a black man in terms of being someone with African features? I was talking about actual skin color here! Seriously, are you that dense?

And I humbly ask you to show me direct evidence that "Kmet:" stands for the race. Every translation I've seen for it says "black LAND", not "black PEOPLE". You mind showing me your source?

I really loved that you touched on the fact that our species originated in Africa. That's the exact reason why I shudder to use the label "African-American"; not only does it ignore the fact that someone's ancestors could have lived in a place other than Africa for a decent amount of time, but also because ultimately we ALL come from Africa. The difference in our DNA is far more slight than what our labels would lead us to believe. I would love to get away from labels like black/white entirely

Not whites!
So yes I am a proud blk African!

Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage Now, if you like being called black, that's fine. In the end, it's just a title, and I'll admit to using the term myself. But I'm not deluded enough to think it's the totality of who we are. "White" and "black" are just titles that don't even accurately portray most of our skin colors, and people put way too much stock in them. Case in point: being "proud" to be black or white. You didn't chose to be black, and you didn't work at it. So what's there to be proud of? A chance happening?
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage Finally, the part about Africa being Kmet is WRONG. It's the name for ancient EGYPT, NOT AFRICA. Go look it up.
And even with its name meaning, it doesn't necessarily point to the people; it could also point to the LAND. It just means "Burnt (black) land," not "land of the black people." Again, look it up.
But let's say it does. So what? True it shows who was really there, but does that mean people were really jet black? Japan is called "land of the rising sun"; does the sun rise?

@jijilog I am familiar with the crap that black people go through with police in LA. it's the same in NYC where I was born, and it's the same where I live now. That you're fighting against this sort of thing is admirable, and I'll agree that is something to be proud of.

@NikiDaDude Usually African Immigrants. Its a wonder how we'll refer to their children born in the US. But Obama gets called black and I imagine most people don't think too much about the difference when they refer to him as a 'black' president.
eirefrance 1 year ago
@NikiDaDude
Bro, we call dark skinned people from Haiti "African Americans" in this country. We're that ignorant. In the early part of the 20th century we used the term "Negro" to separate certain Americans from others. Then people felt that the term was to divisive, so we started using the term "black" to separate people. But then that was deemed divisive so we started using "African American." Either way, it's just a term we use to say "You're one of us, but not quite." It's bullshit.
h8uall66 1 year ago
Johann Blumenbach made up those "classifications". Check out some of his quotes. I don't personally like to validate his bullshit by using some words he pulled out of his racist ass.
In my opinion, saying a "black man" is better off in the US than he is in Africa is like saying it's better to be married to a cheating, lying whore, than it is to be married to a lying, cheating whore with AIDS.
"Love It Or Leave It" is the motto of a coward. We must Improve.
Good video.
onlywhenprovoked 1 year ago 3
@onlywhenprovoked Thank you for mentioning Blumenbach. I think there's a good chance that if he didn't put out the crap he did, the relationships between races in western civilizations may not have been as bad. I'm not naive enough to think things would have been all groovy, but he didn't help matters at all.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage His cranial pseudo science goes hand in hand with the europeans feeling AOK about raping the world. Sadly, I'm sure if he didn't exist then some other racist tool would have come up with similar theories.
I refuse to fill out the race question on Any forms. When it's somehow relevant to whatever it is I'm filling out - then I'll consider it... but I still aint checking off a box that says caucasian. I have a cock, but I'm not in the least bit asian. :P
onlywhenprovoked 1 year ago

Monarch816 1 year ago
@Monarch816 I'm not bothered to be called "black" either, and honestly I use the term a lot myself. I just like to point out how silly it is.
As far as racism from blacks, hell yes it exists, and I've seen a lot of it. It angers me as much as the racism from whites. Some black people get mad at me for that, saying it's not on the same level. To me, racism is racism period. But it's the hypocrisy of it that gets me the most.
Swordsage 1 year ago
Well the richest part of Africa the life expectancy is only about 43-46. You cannot compare the US slums to what is going on in Africa simply because the healthcare there is horrible , what you see on T.V is not like a bunch of camera man picking a place to go to. It's like that in much of Africa. 400,000+ people died in a single war there. America is not perfect but if you're in a place you do not like you can move , people in Africa are usually to poor to have that option.
Monarch816 1 year ago
I have never seen you bring up race before.
I always questioned the criteria people use to decide race. what would it be like if we divided people up by there personality type? if that were the case me and my brother wouldn't be the same race, but me and my wife would be siblings, that's kind of weird.
anyway good vid.
NubianTribesman 1 year ago
@NubianTribesman I've actually brought up race before in older videos. I just don't like to because it's still such a charged subject and it's rare to find people on all sides who can discuss it objectively. Still, it's because we don't discuss it objectively that it's still a problem.
As far as current classifications of race, you can blame Johann Blumenbach for that.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage I understand what you are saying about discussing race, it is hard to bring it up with out crazies bringing up conspiracies and stuff.
John Blumenbach, I think Ill look him up. thanks for the info.

A very interesting video.
2. I have just mentally run through all the African nations, I can't think of one that is doing OK.

if i was going to live in Africa i move to Mahe of the inner islands , nice place there
and yeah we all come from the same place , it only the Neanderthals that we could really call a different race

actually we're all different shades of brown. "peach is the pink of brown". So we really are all brown.
Perhaps we should call people by their common haplogroups? I would tell you what to call me but I can't seem to find the European mutt codes. :P

I'm not sure the question makes any sense.
So the question is enigmatic.

its funny you mention chris rock, because when i see people with long hair i imagine them with short hair, and when i imagined you with short hair i thought you looked like chris rock. anyway, it was a really good video, and everything you said was spot on. we would all be better off if people took the time to educate themselves on the origins of civilization, and and wouldnt let ignorant ideas of race cloud their vision.

CrimsonEdge38 1 year ago
@CrimsonEdge38 I think that is a good point, but I also wonder why a diverse population needs to be considered to have to deal with a mandatory inferiority to less diverse ones when it comes to life quality. Large populations, I can see, but it seems the only reason a DIVERSE population would have disparities in living standards amongst them is because of discriminatory practices. Unless there is something I'm missing.
Swordsage 1 year ago
@Swordsage I imagine it has to do with culture. For example, the work ethic of somebody from Iowa or Idaho probably isn't going to be the same as somebody from California.
I think a more accurate approach would be to compare states to each other, and then other countries. Even then, larger states like Texas have an incredible number of cultures all with varying living conditions and quality of life.
CrimsonEdge38 1 year ago
