  • Cool.....I like it!

  • One thing that I think is cool about this song is when he first says the word change the chords change from what was being played previously.Good job nice hat I too am a red sox fan

  • One thing that I think is cool about this song is when he first says the word change the chords change from what was being played previously

  • Good job! Cool cat in the background, most cats would've ran off once you hit the first chord.

  • my cover is better then yours

  • my cover is better

  • very good.

  • perfect

  • pretty good cover man!!!

I think this is the ONLY PJ song I've got the voice for....LOL!!

  • In the "All these changes..." and "I changed by not changin'..." parts the chords are C, A, Em. You're stuck on the D, Cadd9, G/B progression. Mix it up...makes the song less monotonous. It's easy too. IMHO.

  • excellent dude

  • hell ya dude

  • Good singin' dude.

  • Loved it man, you should update it with the chorus chords and make it that much more perfect ;) like someone said b4 but yeah thx for a really decent cover 2 watch and learn from. :)

  • nice cover how did u learn this song

  • The best cover for this song : ))

  • my bad ,i shuldve taken the time to read ya other comments.

  • good tune but your missin out A & Em,these chords are played during,"all these changes takin place,i wished id seenyour face, but no ones ever taken me"so it should go C-A,C-A,C-A,Em,then back to D.But good effort and a great song.

  • 5 stars from me!

  • I liked it, but I think it should be played a bit softer. The guitar is way to overpowering.

  • I thought this was a very good cover. Nicely done.

  • wrong chords for the pre or post chorus part... i think it changes to and A and C, then and E...

  • correct, I have since started using those chords, thanks

  • nice cat

  • This is great and I've been trying to learn this song myself and this is helpful. One thing though, on the "All these changes..." section which is the refrain I think it is a C -> A progression and back different that regular chords. Overall though a great cover and a really nice voice. Kudos for posting this!!

  • 5 Stars my friend. We just posted our version last week check it out and let us know what you think.

  • good do better man next

  • Great job

  • When moving from the normal part of the song back to the "hearts and thoughts they fade" part (the chorus?), you should play a little softer. Vedder entirely overemphasizes the fact that he's going from a strong part of the song to a softer, vulnerable part during that transition. Otherwise, A+, this is one of the best covers I've ever seen!

  • ya, what he said

  • Hey man good stuff. Just some constructive criticism: you were excellent on the high notes (the hard part) but a little shaky on the low notes, especially in the first verse. You have the range to hit the low notes but you just need to focus on staying smooth.

This song is hard as balls to sing but you were great overall.

  • good job man. rock on

  • good stuff buddy, and never mind the cat, they just dont know good music when they hear it!

  • you look like jack black, you know the famous american comedian who acts in movies

  • eh a little less on the guitar and a little more on the vocals

  • good stuff man

  • Very good cover of an awsome tune!

  • awesome work

the cat in the background seems somewhat disinterested

  • yeah, its a cat. what did you expect it to do... wave a lighter in the air?

    ;-)

  • i once saw a cat that took a whiff off a bong while listening to this song, it didnt wave much, but it did wobble a bit before lying down for an hour, i cant believe that you lot were talkin bout that, funny times, good music

  • Great job buddy, way to hit those high notes!

  • wow very good ! Great job

  • hey dude you play very good!! where can i see the tabs exactly the same you`r playing? i hope that you can help me, thanks

  • D, Cm, G, Cm, G

  • Really great cover, man.

  • love it bro!!

  • ps: your rendition of black is great too,i play it to my friends, they love it(learnt it from you)keep'em comming

  • so what if chords are wrong, simply great rendition

  • i am learning this song and watch your video pretty much all day..It's awesome. I bet 1,000 of your 19,000 views are from me. good job

  • Awesome cover man. Keep it up.

  • thanks

  • tab it's wrong...

  • it's not that far off bud

  • actualy on the bridge you go from C m7 to G

the real version is C m7 to A

  • any chords you find on the internet there no a in it d c9 g or the way he playes it

  • great job on one of my favourite songs. cheers from canada.

  • I love the black cat in the background over your left shoulder moving it's head. I missed it the first few times I saw your video.

Nice cover I am using it to learn the song myself.

  • Thanks, the cats name is Sable and she is a dedicated fan:) Good luck

  • GO SOX

  • Yeah baby and Celtics!!!

  • Awesome cover...i have a question...are u using G, D,and C9? thanks

  • Yes. He is.

  • Thought so..thanks

  • nice job bro

but as everyone else is saying, you need the e minor in the chorus

  • right.. that's a good but the chorus have the wrong chords.. anyway. keep on =)

  • Is that a martin X series?

  • blindho, it was good! Don't know if you got the chords right or wrong - I'm not an expert. Anyway, I enjoyed it!

  • sorry man, you got the chords wrong.

    especially the chorus. it goes C A C A C A Em

  • Yeah, I think your right and I used to play it that way. I guess I got lazy. Maybe I'll do another version that way. Most people don't even notice the difference

  • I was checking out your videos and I love your taste in music! Great job!

  • well done thanks bro

  • Good job man! I enjoyed that one.

  • True story, I used to play that riff and I just got lazy

  • great voice man but you are missing the little riff between the G and Cadd9.

  • man i love this song

you did a really good job on it

    amazing

  • thanks!

  • Groovy man! Kudos.

  • dont mind the criticisms man..it's us PJ fans who're savoring this...this heartfelt rendition of a classic...waY to Go!!

  • great

  • good job man one of my fav songs....

  • ok this strum is so hard for me th chords are so simple but I cant get it down I gues cause its not in 4/4 time or someting feels like 3/4 but cant strum the dam thing right and sing it

  • it's in 6/8 time

  • I know! I can either play it or sing it. It's hard to play a song that's not 4/4 cause nearly everything is. Anyone have any ideas of which fret to capo for a female voice? I've been trying the third...

  • nice work man

  • Hey good job.... i tried it too have a listen tell me what you think....

  • black cat

  • indeed

  • Loved it, dude!

  • its funny at 1:27 when he try to sing "im not my former" and the cat at tha back looks like "what the hell?" ahahha

  • Ha! The Black cat is Sable who is my only true groupy:)

  • aaahahahahah=)) that was wicked, i like that cat:))

  • hey man, regular job, you use a wrong chord in the bridge!! it´s C and A!!

  • fantastic hard song to play!! perfect place and chord change wicked !!! good voice too

  • Great job, that is one of my all time favorite songs!

  • Excellent cover! men im just starting in this, i wanna ask you, wich chords dis you use?

  • good job.. during the "all these changes taking place..." part, Its a C and A chord twice and play an Em over the "but noones ever taken me"

  • Great job, I haven't seen many good covers of this song, and you one of the good ones.

  • appreciate the comment!! cheers!

  • you slowed down just a bit at the first chorus, but otherwise, you did a great job. kudos on singing while playing, i still can't pull that shit off.

  • Not bad at all, man! i love that song and you did it justice! Nicely done!

  • I really enjoyed this. Im glad I chose this video. Your beard makes you credible and so does the gun in your pants.

  • In the 2nd part where the lyric is "all these changes taking place" everyone seems to be playing c/g g c/g, but it sounds like there is another chord there, maybe a minor chord...no? Good performance!

  • GO RED SOX!!! nice job man. this song is deceptively hard...even when you've heard it a million times. hey obiwon...you probably dont play anything, but if you ever start, you'll realize how hard it is.

  • Thanks! Yeah, the rhythm can be difficult with this song to play and sing at the same time. It's funny how many critical comments come from people with no video posts:) Kind of annoying:)

  • You should probably want to memerize the lyrics before putting yourself on here, saves the viewer the pain on watching your read.

  • Actually, this is one of the few songs I have memorized and I barely looked down in this video. Not really sure many people care about reading lyrics anyway so it might just be your pain:)

  • great job bro with this long time pearl jam classic.

  • Thanks!

  • honestly the exact chords being used are not that important as long as he has the basic pattern, and similar chords. In the original , the guitar is subtle faint and in the background, the rhythmn and lyrics make this song. your chord progression worked very well. good job

  • Thanks, I agree

  • The chords for the Verse and Chorus are D, Cadd9, G, which is what you're playing. But for the Pre-Chorus, the chords are C, Am 3 times through, then Em! Hope that sounds ok! You did great!

  • I always used to play it with the Am/Em in the Pre-Chorus but can't find any tab to back that up so I just play it straight D/Cadd9/G. Jury is still out:) Thanks!

  • Hehe, fair enough! But you don't need a tab :) Go straight to the source!

Search: "Pearl jam - elderly woman behind the counter in a small town" and its the 6th video down posted by "elnenesheehan"

    Good luck!

  • Just play the chords you think sound best.

They don't have to be exact.

You're not taking a test here.

  • I tend to agree with that philosophy as seen in some of my covers where I don't always play the exact chords or care either way. But sometimes it does make a difference and I'm glad people call me on it and I don't blame them for asking me about the chords I use. This site is all about discussion. Cheers and thanks for stopping by!

  • the chords are D C9 and G...C9 is played much like an open G chord although your root position is on the 3rd fret of the "A" (C). Okay...X23033...that's for you ponchocalvo

  • That is correct, thanks!

  • very nice rendition, i liked it (needs a drumer)

  • hey men, wich chords do you use it?

  • i believe it's D, C, G

  • this is honeslty one of the best covers I've ever heard. perfect timing on the guitar/vocals

  • nice job man keep it up, try black for ur next song

  • Thanks, already did Black. Take a look and let me know what u think

  • u played both songs really well, ur vocals on this was better imo, have u done a cover of daughter? wud love to hear a cover of that

  • Five stars... awesome cover. Might have been good to leave some silent downtime at the end of the video though... it's a powerful song (and a powerful performance!) and a few seconds at the end to take it in would be nice. Yay for you anyhow! Good stuff.

  • Thanks for the feedback! I agree about the space at the end and will keep in mind for future videos. Keep stopping by, I have a lot more material coming...

  • The best Elderly Woman I've heard on youtube, nice cat

  • Thanks for the compliment! My Cat Sable is a loyal fan:)

  • nice

  • good cover, well played.

  • I appreciate the comment! My friends and I have played this song on camping trips for years.

  • hey bud nice one!!
