guinea pigs squealing

Ye gods what an annoying sound! we DO enjoy hearing their screams as our pet python wraps around one but the rest of their stupid noises are just irksome.

mine chew on the bars of the cage to wake me up. they only squeak after i've showered and they know i'm comin upstairs with some yum yums. :D

@bubbles0are0cool Aw! Our pigs never chewed the bars, but our mice did like crazy when they sensed food. My rabbit does it sometimes too just to be a jerk :P

umm...i just got 2 guinea pigs today and oe of them is very quiet and the other wont be quiet....do u no y they squeak?

do they like want some thing or they just doin it for the hell of it?

@mjstruelove111 I would say mostly for the hell of it :) In my experience, these guys squeaked when they thought it was dinnertime (we fed them at the same time each day so if you were late, you'd know!), and sometimes they would make softer squeaking/grunting noises when they were just running around the cage playing. So I guess you've got one loud and one soft one!

Guinea pigs have special digestive tracks that mean that they need to eat every 2 hours or so to stop their intestines shutting down and them becoming bloated.

I'm considering a guinea pig as a pet; are these squeals annoyingly loud or subtle squeals?

Honestly, they're pretty damn loud. They have their quiet "wheeks" when they're playing/happy, but when they want food, it gets crazy shrill and it doesn't stop until you feed them. I'm not positive if this is everyone's experience, though, you might get quiet ones :)

Mine do the same exact thing lol ever morning they are my alarm clocks. I have noticed that one is actually a lot more louder but i think that she is just more aggressive. Cute pigs btw :)

kogas1fan, i had the same problem with my guinea pig when i just got her a year ago. She did the same things and she was scared. If u just give her a few days she will get used to her new habitat, and will gain more confidence. If u also take her out everyday and give her attention she will get used to you and will stop being scared.

i just got my guinea pig,i havent seen her eat yet or drink,and im very worried,she hides and stands still unless im not moving or pretending to sleep,then she only eats a few bites of timothy hay,how can i get her so she wont be scared anymore?i rescued her from a pet shop,and,after awhile,ill prolly get her a buddy from a rescue or rescue another GP but she's very scared now and i dont know what to do,IDEA'S ANYONE?

I think you should learn to read more carefully. I've clearly stated in the description that the guinea pigs never used the wheel. My mum was misinformed. It's since been removed (the wheel, not my mum).
