I totally remember this! This used to pop up a lot on HBO in the 1980s and I watched it on the channel. While the live action film of 2005 is a super movie, this one will always be my personal favorite version.
I remember watching this back when Disney Channel was actually watchable! This was also a collaboration between Children's Television Workshop and Bill Melendez Productions, the staff behind the "Peanuts"/"Charlie Brown" programs and specials.
This was the first version i seen too then when i was in junior high i seen the 1988 version as well & i love both versions better then the new one that just came out :) The cartoon is the best version there is of Narnia ;) I've even showed my kids the first 2 versions :)
Listen, girls. When you meet a horny little goat man in the forest and follow him to his house for tea and toast, don't be surprised when he pulls out his pan pipe and you end up a bit dazed and confused.
I remember watching this on VHS at my grandparents house when I would come and visit. A cup of hot chocolate, a bowl of popcorn and a snuggle on the sofa. Oh the memories.
i first seen this in 1980 and still love it to this day, with out doubt a master piece. but iam not sure why they changed the original English voices to American ones for this version.. the original bbc version is the best for sure
did this company make the other books into movies too? Are they on YouTube? Because after I saw the Disney Lion Witch and Wardrobe, i was so dissapointed, and didnt see the other ones. But i would like to know the rest of the story.
This is the best version of this story out there. I watched it when i was litle, probably in the 2nd or 3rd grade, and that was when I was exposed to Narnia. I was also in the musical 2 years ago, so the story is pretty close to my heart. This movie and The Last Unicorn is what my sister and I would always rent from Blockbuster. I was watching missglamourazzi's winter tutorial, and she said that this movie was her inspiration. Did this company make the other books movies too? R they on Youtube?
Oh Bill Melendez voice of Snoopy, Woodstock, The Dwarf in this movie, Director of the animation of each Charlie Brown Cartoon especially this one. We will miss you so.....
I never read the book, but this movie my siblings and I would watch non-stop. We would always point out the weird and strange things that happened in the film.
It's funny though, I know the the more recent movie that came out is of course, based on the book, as is this animated feature, however, all the scenes portrayed in this cartoon are almost exactly like that of the new movie. Thus, when I saw the new movie, I was disappointed, there's really no difference, I almost prefer this too.
Wow I saw this when I was a very small child and loved this movie. I am so happy to watch it again. Thank you so much for this! it is the best version!!
Better than the recent movie and the dreadful BBC series in every sense, fantastic score, and really good voices (Accept these are the terrible American voices) and characterisation, basically everything that was missing in the later versions.
@AslansButterfly Because of the reasons I stated before, I thought the characterisation was pretty weak, there were scenes given too much focus that weren't even in the book and others that should have been there that were not at all. Mr Tumnus came across as some weirdo peado and not the sympathetic character that was portrayed in the animated version. The film score was terrible, where as the one on the animated film, is one of the best soundtracks for a fantasy film ever written.
@Azanti The voices for all the characters in this version always seemed to reasonate better than any of the cast here. The kids in the live action film were however one of the better points of the film. I also thought the battle at the end was extremely poorly done, very different from the book, and the animated version. I thought Prince Caspian was a much stronger film. At the end of the day the animated one will always have special place in my heart, dated though it is.
It says Bill Melendez because the animation is by him and plus they move like if this is Charlie Brown because he worked on the Peanuts Specials especially the voice of Snoopy which he you can hear with the Dwarf's voice. I love this version too.
There was another dub of this done in a British accent. Used to watch this all the time when I was a kid! Doesn't sound quite right with a US accent - epscecially seeing it's set in England!

@drpepperadict ... I'm sorry, was that supposed to be funny? Because you have failed drastically if it was... That is not what this story is about. Go and clean your filthy little mind.
@Vertan yeah i know what the story is about, i read it in elementary school, i just was stating an honest opinion, also you cant look me strait in the eye and not say that mr. tumnus turning into fire at 9:36 doesn't make you think of the devil.
@drpepperadict Well I cant see you, but I can disagree with you wholeheartedly. The flames make me think of the first sparks of guilt he must begin to feel while hypnotising Lucy, judging by what happens next. Your opinions have been warped by the filth that happens in the real world. Fantasies like this exist so as to provide an escape from all that. There are things that relate back to reality, but pedophilia is not one of them. It's sad to think I'm actually having this conversation -.-
Absolutely love this version of 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.' I haven't come across many people who know about this version. BTW, thanks for uploading it and in such good quality too ;)
Thanx for taking the interest :) I think I used dvd decrypter to rip the dvd . I tried to use the best quality as possible of course :) There are extras I haven't gotton to rip yet though .
This was the first thing about Narnia I have been exposed to. I first read "The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe" back in Fifth Grade and we watched this movie in class after we finished reading. This was and still is one of the best Narnia movies ever made in my opinion
