I'm not going to proclaim that it's a lost art, but hymn improvisation is falling victim to the praise band and organ removal. A good friend who is an accompanist has moved to three churches in the past 5 years as local congregations go to the contemporary format. My own denomination used to teach a yearly worship music workshop. That is now gone. John really bridges the past with the present. I'm really excited though that my alma mater, O.U., is now teaching organ construction.
Thank you!
