It's a shame that Billy didn't include the salute to Ringo Starr, by sayin', 'I got blisters on my blisters!' LOL! God bless ya, for postin' it. Have a blessed Christmas!
Great song i preffer the alternative lyric version though:
"Gotta take control get a hold of my emotions STOP LIGHTING THE AUDIENCE, why does it always seem to get me in the middle of the night STOP IT! You told me there's a number I can always dial... LET ME DO MY SHOW FOR CHRISTS SAKE!"
i love the singer and the song but i didnt come here from scrubs i came cuz i heard movin out and this was a song ive never heard great song nethertheless
Amazing artist, Billy Joel, a true master of the genre. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but I think I detect in this song some of Elvis's influence. The best learned from the best.
I always thought it was a crime that they left this classic off of his first G/H album. No Bily Joel G/H album is complete without this amazing track.
If i was a performer, I think I'd be this kind of kitschy, committed, connected-to-the-music performer. So much energy allways went into his shows, and I bet in the studio as well. Such a departure from the Cold Spring Harbor/Streetlife days, when the music had emotion (most times), but the actual performing seemed static and his whole body introspective. These were his glory days, alright!
He didn't kill himself, he attempted it by drinking furniture polish. Fortunately he was not successful and he later wrote the song "Your only human(Second Wind)" which was written to prevent teens from committing suicide. He has been to hospitals twice to help him with his substance abuse. So to set the record straight, he did not kill himself and he is still alive.
+ Billy actually took a whole bottle of Valium, they let him outta the hospital and he drank the lemon-flavored furniture polish... Thank God he didn't make it all the way!
I honestly can't understand why this was never a big hit...

His first few words in this tune he mentions, "...but I really need stimulation..". I don't think he needs anymore stimulation for this song.
This song of fantasy actually sounded like a fantastic tune for stimulating the audience. I was stimulated.

They're talking about the bass player, Doug Stegmyer, who did kill himself, not Billy.

His best bass player by far and apparently did alot of the arrangements for the band.

russell javors was awesome. i don't see why he got that new girl to sing backup
mission2marsden 3 years ago
He wanted a new sound around '89, so he scrapped most of the band except for Rivera and Devito.
