  • I honestly can't understand why this was never a big hit...

  • 95.7 The Game!!!!

  • It's a shame that Billy didn't include the salute to Ringo Starr, by sayin', 'I got blisters on my blisters!' LOL! God bless ya, for postin' it. Have a blessed Christmas!

  • I dont care about scrubs - Billy Joel brought me here

  • Great song i preffer the alternative lyric version though:

"Gotta take control get a hold of my emotions STOP LIGHTING THE AUDIENCE, why does it always seem to get me in the middle of the night STOP IT! You told me there's a number I can always dial... LET ME DO MY SHOW FOR CHRISTS SAKE!"

  • @JWOLFPACK Did he really say this in a different show? Can you link me to hit?

  • I came here from scrubs.. hehe.. thumbs up for who did it for the same reason... :D

  • I love playing this on the guitar, it's super sexy.

  • LOVE that album and Billy was SO full of energy back then! I miss Liberty!

  • i love the singer and the song but i didnt come here from scrubs i came cuz i heard movin out and this was a song ive never heard great song nethertheless

  • Amazing artist, Billy Joel, a true master of the genre. I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but I think I detect in this song some of Elvis's influence. The best learned from the best.

  • Used to turn this up on the local FM. In the days before CDs. Fookin' dinosaurs like to rock, too, mate.

  • best song ever

  • tumps up if you heard it on scrubs and must hear it again ;)

  • @MrSpexius can't give u a thumbs up because i first heard it in 1980 and i don't know scrubs!!

  • @holitipu You should watch Scubs :P Its a really great serie with fun, love, drama and much more!

  • @MrSpexius lol ^^ fucking scrubs songs, this ist already the fouth song that i had to hear because of the funny scenes *gnaaah*

  • awesome ;D

  • LOL! I was 12 when this was released, I always liked it,but I'm just discovering that this tune is about phone sex! (I feel like such a lame) = P

  • I am 16 years old... and I love this music :D Because this is good and on scrubs :D

  • @rocktboy159 exactly same facts... ;) 16, love it, scrubs <3 xD

  • I always thought it was a crime that they left this classic off of his first G/H album. No Bily Joel G/H album is complete without this amazing track.

  • "STOP LIGHTING THE AUDIENCE!"

  • @SecretService80 LET ME DO MY SHOW FOR CHRIST SAKE !

  • @alextreme400 When is he gonna take control, get ahold of his emotions?

    :P

  • "But I really needed stimulation"...

Haha omg this song :P the memories

  • this was all about phone sex eh!

  • My favourite song with Billy. He's just fantastic :-) He had make a lot of great songs. And then he was quiet cute ;p He's still a good-lookin' man.

  • What was this 79? I was barely into my teens when this was all over the radio

  • i'd assume so, since this was before the album's release

  • @horseboyken

It's from "Glass Houses", so probably about 1981 or 1982.

  • I LOVE this song!!! and Love Billy too :)

  • Magic Billy!"

  • If you listen to the Record version and then the Cd reissue the telephone dialing is different. I notice things like that.

  • i had this on 8 track.

  • this is on scrubs

  • His first few words in this tune he mentions, "...but I really need stimulation..". I don't think he needs anymore stimulation for this song.

This song of fantasy actually sounded like a fantastic tune for stimulating the audience. I was stimulated.

  • Are you trying to make me erupt in puerile giggles?

  • This is one of the first songs I remember hearing, period. I love it!!

  • oh man! you cant beat this music from this time!

  • wat a song

  • billy was the best then, and still is...i love the guy

  • great great great !!!!!

    i love this song

  • Is Billy Joel, Rambo in disguise on his weekends off from killing Commies and Viet-cong?

  • gotta love billy!

  • omfg where did u get this vid????

  • If i was a performer, I think I'd be this kind of kitschy, committed, connected-to-the-music performer. So much energy allways went into his shows, and I bet in the studio as well. Such a departure from the Cold Spring Harbor/Streetlife days, when the music had emotion (most times), but the actual performing seemed static and his whole body introspective. These were his glory days, alright!

  • He didn't kill himself, he attempted it by drinking furniture polish. Fortunately he was not successful and he later wrote the song "Your only human(Second Wind)" which was written to prevent teens from committing suicide. He has been to hospitals twice to help him with his substance abuse. So to set the record straight, he did not kill himself and he is still alive.

  • They're talking about the bass player, Doug Stegmyer, who did kill himself, not Billy.

  • + Billy actually took a whole bottle of Valium, they let him outta the hospital and he drank the lemon-flavored furniture polish... Thank God he didn't make it all the way!

  • RIP Doug... That guy was solid as fuck... A bassist like that is not easy to find... Even in NYC.

  • His best bass player by far and apparently did alot of the arrangements for the band.

  • Doug Stegmeyer?

  • wow. he's REALLY good live :D

  • He diden't stupid. He's still playing.

  • One reason was that his dog died, believe it or not.

  • his wife left him and he was depressed, not the best reason in the world

  • Excellent live performance

  • is this from live from long island?

  • nope...this is from Houston,TX ...you can get a full DVD on this show.. (from members of the Joelfan fansite)

  • I love this song!

  • no the guy at 3:44 isn't Doug, Doug plays bass.

  • oh ok

  • Isn't that david brown?

  • I don't know. Him and Doug look so alike.

  • Nah, it's definitely him

  • lol he looks kinda shy at the beginning

  • russell javors was awesome. i don't see why he got that new girl to sing backup

  • He wanted a new sound around '89, so he scrapped most of the band except for Rivera and Devito.

  • is the guy at 3:44 the one who committed suicide? (doug stegmeyer)

  • Holy Shit....where did you get this???????

  • I loved this song when I was a kid. I like this live version even better.

  • So, I'm your father...

  • GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
