It's really funny the finger closing the ear because to have a good effect in return to listen to your own voice you should put your both hands closing both ears. Mariah can't do that in live performances: first it's not sexy to see it and in one hand she holds a mic.
People can just imitate the finger in a good way, not the real whistle ahahah
