A LOT of the things he does in the wild are things that any true survivalist/outdoorsman would tell you not to do. In one episode he went after a honeybee hive in arizona (or some southwest state I believe) just to get honey. Honey is basically sugar and would provide no real sustenance and only a small amount of quick energy. Not to mention they could have easily been killer bees in that area, and if they were you would be dead...all for a little honey. STUPID.

Its not bear's fault that some things had to be choreographed or weren't as "real" as they could have been. They have to make good TV and have some sort of structure.. and consider the crews safety aswell, who more than likely arent as well trained as him. @hammr25 Actually in a dangerous situation he has a wrist cam so his crew isn't in danger and he can check it out before the crew does anything. And sometimes they know somethings there before they get there so Bear can show you the proper skills needed for that specific type of situation. Neither is fake, they both have crew, they both entertain. I just prefer Man vs. Wild.
What about Les Straud? He goes *by himself films by himself* gets fungal infections diseases and fatigued. Only once did he do an episode where he wasn't alone. That scenario was about two buddies who went hunting and got lost. I have watched Man v Wild and Survivorman and can tell that Bear isn't anywhere as legit as Les.

His advice is real and you could easily use it in situations that are life threatening. However, even though Bear is not in real danger in most of his films, he is still showing you what could happen, and how to get you out of it.

u cant drink ur own urine. U would get very sick, and probably die. Also in one episode, he apparently "squeezed" the water out of elephant shit. I did some research, and i asked a naturalist that specializes in wild animals. He told me that it is impossible to drink the water from elephant shit. In another episode he was apparently crossing a "dangerous" bridge in Hawaii or something, and there was a guy on youtube that proved with a video that tourists cross that same bridge every day there.
That's sometimes the only way to survive. How does it make you sick? Its just water, salts, and urea. If its dilute, you're just wasting water. There's not much bottled water in the desert or wherever else, you haven't got much choice.
You'll only get sick if you psycologically can't handle it.

Anyway, after he awoke and realized where he was, and that he was alive, he remembered a Man vs Wild show, where Bear was talking about scaling rock surfaces using a wedge technique(using pressure with an open hand in rock openings). Eddie said he never would have made it otherwise. So thank you to every survival training show out there!

Its not bear's fault that some things had to be choreographed or weren't as "real" as they could have been. They have to make good TV and have some sort of structure.. and consider the crews safety aswell, who more than likely arent as well trained as him. I'd like to see people who label his as a fake go up Everest. @hammr25 Actually in a dangerous situation he has a wrist cam so his crew isn't in danger and he can check it out before the crew does anything. And sometimes they know somethings there before they get there so Bear can show you the proper skills needed for that specific type of situation. Neither is fake, they both have crew, they both entertain. I just prefer Man vs. Wild.

What about Les Straud? He goes *by himself films by himself* gets fungal infections diseases and fatigued. Only once did he do an episode where he wasn't alone. That scenario was about two buddies who went hunting and got lost. I have watched Man v Wild and Survivorman and can tell that Bear isn't anywhere as legit as Les.

BUT the information his is giving for "survival" is nothing more then common knowledge. His episodes have no real scenarios of life or death, no real tips or explanations on hunting or survival (besides the often stunts he pulls for ratings) and all together, he has a fucking camera crew. come on, pull your heads out of the clouds.

Les Stroud is a chump. He cant even set up a trap properly. In his earlier episodes he couldnt even make a fire without a match or flint. That's sometimes the only way to survive. How does it make you sick? Its just water, salts, and urea. If its dilute, you're just wasting water. There's not much bottled water in the desert or wherever else, you haven't got much choice.

this guy is doing an instructional video on survival. if he takes some liberties with it so what. i bet he's gone thru stuff that would make most of us piss our pants. he helped my cousin from dying on a ridge line in the Rockies. he remembered what the program taught him and it kept him alive long enough to be saved.

He fell off an escarpment while backpacking, mainly becaue he was sick and just fainted. He should have stayed put in his tent until he felt better. Anyway, after he awoke and realized where he was, and that he was alive, he remembered a Man vs Wild show, where Bear was talking about scaling rock surfaces using a wedge technique(using pressure with an open hand in rock openings). Eddie said he never would have made it otherwise. So thank you to every survival training show out there!
