sometimes their music is, to be fair, a bit boring, but they're one of my favourite bands, because of their lyrics, the anger in Jesse's voice, the mood they create, their rawness and their attitude. They're all about the music. No pretensions, twitter feeds or fucking autotune, just some guys wearing hoodies playing good songs.

It's like the time I saw Pig Destroyer (death metal band) live: they played a ton of songs of their new album, and I was disappointed because I wanted to hear my favorites that I knew and loved. It happens, sometimes.

However, I think a lot of Brand New fans are too close minded when it comes to music. The first two records seemed to set up a fan base that isn't suited for their personal exploits as far as writing music is concerned.

I have loved this band since day one, one of my all time favorites. I respected "Devil and God.." more than any album in recent release, this album I agree with what Lacey said, it is a means to an end. Each album has brought a different feeling to the table, and this is a means of closure. Very well respected and well talented band, and I'm glad this is going to be their last album (Supposidly).

This song is amazing. Musically. I mean the lyrics are great that goes without saying. But wow. A new sound but so clearly Brand new. And the jerky beat reminds me of how 15 step stood out on Radiohead's In Rainbows album with the dancy feel and awkward 5/4 time.

Totally agree on the radiohead comparison. alternative press magazine once called them "an american radiohead" and it wasn't until that point that i really saw that. Dont get me wrong, the emotion and almost blissfully ignorant musicality brand new portrays wasn't lost on me before that point in time. Just the sheer audacity of comparison to bands such as radiohead holds brand new to a level which most bands will never reach, that fact alone will keep us all attentive and open to the new sounds

this does seem like a chaotic song, i agree with all of you....BUT

keep in mind the subject of it and the lyrics.

its a chaotic situation, "feels like im jumping towards a train"...the urgency and the chaos that is in the person's head is likely coming across in the music. i mean, put yourself in the situation, it'd feel like a million different songs playing in your head when you go through an experience of that kind. The music suits it PERFECTLY. Brand New are the best band on the planet.

Jesse has cited bands such as the jesus lizard as being major influences, so if this type of sound is found reguarly on the new album i will not be surprised, because jesse is openly a huge fan on noisey grunge rock. personally, i cant wait to hear more

My main problem with this is not the performance. It's with the song itself. The main thing I don't like is it's lacking any real vocal melody. I don't mind a new "sound," nor do I mind this style, it suits me just fine. I just mind poor song writing. And this is boring when it comes to the vocal arrangement.
