HAHA, someone said "shot" and then there's someone else saying RIP lol. He's not dead, I checked into it. I was gonna have a mourning here if he was, I just found out today that Doyle Bramhill died in November :(
Even in the rustier moments this is heads and tails tighter than 99% of anything touring today. Modal experiments at 3:10? You bet! Who cares? I'm diggin' the snot out of this, regardless of I-IV-V-IV-I.
Chris is a fantastic getfiddle player and a wonderful person. I have seen him live many times I flew with my wife from Philly to Charlotte NC to see him once he seemed very happy to see us. He is a "gotta see me live" player. I love his albums but live is where he rules!
I've played that guitar. He handed it to me while we were watching football a long time ago. It was with this very incarnation of the band too. John's a freak. He can really lay it down solid.
I have met Chris and his band a few times, even cooked breakfast for them once after a gig in Wayne, NE. They are wonderful people. Chris is the most dynamic and talented live performer I have ever seen! I hope to catch another show sometime soon! Chris does "rip"...that is such an accurate statement!
I had some of Chris's CD's back in the late 90's, I think, I hadn't seen him or heard him some time. I've never heard him speak before but he seems like a really, really cool guy. Great to see someone that enjoys life and playin! Hope to see more of this!
yeah, that Strat, according to legend, was the one EC used when he wrote Layla. and John's bass there,or shuld I say, his 1 by 6 masquerading as a BASS is a custom made 7 string piece or art. Look at john's fingers, He must me able to palm a basketball..I love this group , seen them many many times, and many more to come. Amazing,
I absolutely love this guy. Met him in Australia last year and he was more happy to see me I think. He was blown away that he had fans Down Under. He gave me his well worn pick personally and a signed photo, deadset top bloke. He just plays with such enjoyment, energy, soul, balls, feel, groove etc etc.... I just love his whole style. My favorite guitarist, you rip Chris.
@Bluuuzeman I met Chris after a show in Omaha about a year after the first record came out and he talked with me for twenty minutes after the show right on the stage. He's a real credit to the human race.
man that guitar has seen some miles! SO weird seeing him playing the Xotic strat now rather than this one which hes played every show I've seen him since '94. Recently found out that my mandolin teacher, Dennis Bailey was the one that sold him this guitar in '93 or so in Colorado after his original '63 strat was stolen.
@SRV32566 theres a story on chrisduartegroupfans web site (wldnt let me post link) under interviews and True Story of Strat #2. im pretty sure this is the same guitar. Had his original '63 stolen in Nov '93 and this one was found in the classifieds a month later and bought by (or for Chris) in Feb of '94 just before he was to record Texas Sugar.
