  • Who is this idiot interviewing Gore? He seems barely able to contain his patience at her lack of insightful questions to prompt a great interview from a great subject. She's a waste of his time and ours, unfortunately. A valuable opportunity missed!

  • Gore Vidal ..was thrown out of the White House for being drunk and talking to Jackie Kennedy mother.. in a very disrespectful way.

  • got to love his anacdotal style

  • Mr. Vidal is a veritable font of Americana--he knows soooo much about the history of this nation....things you'll never read anywhere else. His life was a great, amazing , infinitely interesting life, for sure.

  • very cool dude...

    splendid wit and flair...

  • 3:21

  • I love his attitude: the one where you reach a certain age, tilt your glasses, clear your throat, and say, "Fuck it, I'm going to say what I think."

  • @Neanderthalcouzin Vidal has been saying these things for a number of years, these aren't just the ravings of a senile old man.

  • Poor Gore! Doomed to be at the mercy of brainless interviewers. He is a great intellect and a truly great American.

  • WHAT A BAD (and I mean really awful) interviewer. I mean look at her eyes, she looks like a fanatic! And those questions she asks...are so stupid (just hearing and looking at her, makes me feel that she is one of those type of characters who are passive aggressive in life). And it looks...like even poor old Gore Vidal is feeling it.

  • Taramriel... A fair question. If we don't wise up first (and this economic disaster is bringing the world together to help), we will at least come together when a bigger disaster happens, like massive global warming disasters or a worldwide health pandemic (plague).

  • FDR my main man.

  • The good Eleanor Roosevelt was more for humanity than American. Yes, that's a true statement. America's values are not what I grew up believing, sadly.

  • I love Vidal, but he sure is pessimistic. I still have a dream that the people will rise up ... lose their stupidity. It may happen when the rest of the world has to rise up against us.

  • well said, although i'm afraid i'm just as pessimistic as mr. vidal.

  • And what exactly are you basing that hope on please?

  • the woman asking the questions is very stupid. "what do you mean apples?"
