  • If they more more feeling into it, it would have been awesome.

  • Singing is amazing but the humour is so lost that it makes it sound flat and lifeless :\

  • I'm sorry, but I just didn't see much expression in this. There seemed to be more hate than humor in the lines that were meant to be funny. Other than that, I couldn't hear any real emotion behind the lyrics.

  • I think they did a great job, and I'd like to see all you haters do it better than these two did! I, for one, couldn't.

Really, stop hating. They made a really good version of this, eben though it's not the original.

  • the woman sounds super nasal

  • I thought the performance was really great. It's one of the best covers of this song I've heard.

  • The actual Buffy cast will always b da best, I knew after I saw all the other videos of buffy musical that r not played by the cast.

  • Congratulations

  • It's ok, but it sounds to low for the dude. Maybe try moving it up a whole step or even a step and a half. Nicholas Brendon has a very low voice, and it's clear he didn't under go too much vocal training. My partner and I are singing this for a buffy karaoke celebration and it's a challenge for us too!

  • Nasal much

  • I think we're all a bit biased because we all know and love the original. It's like, if we got another actress to come along and play Buffy for an episode, we'd all abuse the crap out of her, even if she was actually better than SMG. Humans don't like change :)

  • Way too theatrical and draggy...needs more humor...no one can replace Emma and Nick.

  • I think you both did a nice job. The sound in the video is pretty quiet, but that's the only thing that really took away from my enjoyment. I think some other commenters are forgetting that the TV version has 6 years of character development behind it...if you're used to seeing certain people playing a role, it takes time to warm up to others. I bet it was a fun song to perform. Nice job again :)

  • they could use a *sing-a-song voice* BIG HAPPY SMILEEE!

  • ...Um sorry to be rude or anything, but I don't believe you guys are that good.....sorry...

  • horrorible js horrorible! but its btter than the other play!

  • Comment removed

  • Good singers and actors, but I personally feel that they don't have the characterisation great.

  • Nice version, pretty good, good singing and great orchestra!

  • Good singers, but people seriously need to leave Buffy the way it was. Stop trying to do.. this!

  • I think Dianne has an amazing voice but its way way way WAYYYYYYYYYY too heavy for Anya (my fave character)

  • They're really good, but no one can replace Nic and Emma. They're the best

  • yeah... it's not crap, just different and I think everyone is so looking for the same quirky spark left by Emma and Nicholas on the show, but no one can really mimic that unless you're actually acting it. You guys had a different style so people aren't jumping around for it exactly. But good job.

    <3

  • the way it's set out and the way you are both dressed is all wrong , it makes no sense!!

  • Really good performance; no idea what people are on about!

If there's one flaw then that the Xander is... well... too good. lol. Nicholas Brendon is a rather horrible singer.

  • Anya and Xander r way better then them

  • there 2 old :(

  • Please please plase if you are going to slag these folk off and I'll admit they're shite! Can't beat the original i agree but please please please if you are going to slate them them use the correct spelling of words. @angelbbz7 - you used the wrong spelling of there. It should be "they're crap...." not "there crap...." - same goes for LiamStainesby94. No excuse for bad grammar.

  • nice woooooooow

  • These two don't understand the meaning of the song, obviously. And why are brother and sister getting married? and formal clothing takes away from the intimacy between the characters. yikes

  • I think you two can really sing. I mean the only thing I would change would be more props and maybe more doing things like in the show, however, I really enjoyed it and this was the best part of this live act I have seen. You two should be proud. I think some people don't understand that your performance could probably never be as good as the original because usually the original is always the best. However, you guys did a great job!

  • Why is he wearing a suit? Shouldn't he be in his PJ's? But this was the best live version on Youtube I've seen yet, so great job!

  • Haha. You can go see Once More with Feeling? Crazy...

  • amazing Rendition. I think the guy nailed it... she needs to watch the episode a few more times, the attitude seamed a little off... AWSOME job though guys, lol

  • These people don't seem to know the characters very well. I think that the best performances of OMWF are always put on by mega fans of the show.

  • I totally respect the effort, but I'm sorry, dude, you totally ruined the "tight... embrace! Tight embrace!" joke/line. You would've nailed the "firm yet supple... tight embrace!" joke, but it requires setting it up properly with the earlier line. If you should perform this again, that's my main constructive criticism which can be fixed in a practical/easy way. Big props on posting this despite the fact that people will hold you to an impossible standard.

  • wheres the humour!? Their fine singers but there was no humour in their version!

  • @LiamStainsby94 Sure, this song should be more humour than voices.

  • @LiamStainsby94

i agree thier their alright singers but there knews to be humour

  • I hate the casting, but they aren't bad in general.

  • these two are great singers! I think I know why so many commenters dislike it though, because Xander and Anya are crazy, weird, hilarious characters and these two are more "proper" or how to say. She would have been a great Tara I think

  • oh no. this ruined the original song :(

they're not bad singers or actors, but the originals do it better.

  • I'm that these two aren't bad actors or singers I assume, but they are just WRONG for Xander and Anya, no offense to them, just bad casting.

  • well they can do better because they spent so many years developig the character themselves...these guys are just taking what they see and trying to adapt it.

  • good singers, but i think only the main characters can do the musical well

  • It's ok. I didn't feel that the voices really suited Anya and Xander. Jeff and Dianne are ok, but might be better suited for different roles, and not exactly in the Buffy musical. Though Jeff could pull off the muster guy and Dianne the parking ticket lady.

I still love Buffy! forever and always!

  • That's the unfortunate thing... it's like watching the movie Rent (musical) and expecting the stage musical to be AS GOOD. They have big shoes to fill and taking that into consideration they do very well...

  • You think the film "Rent" is better than the ORIGINAL B'way show? Why, because more people know Hollyoood actors??

  • @amylh322

I think they only recasted two members for the film version of Rent. And they both declined, because they felt they were too old.

  • yaaaay me considering were from diffrent parts off the world haa nat every ones a sloppy posh idiot like you :D

  • there crap

only the proper people can sing it

  • And you have mastered the use of simple grammar Angelbbz7, well done, claps for you effort. I hope grade three is more successful for you.

  • @jefflang007 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Love the reply to angelbbz7!!!!! They were not crap!!!!!! I like this version a lot!!!!!!!!

  • why is he wearing a suit and her a black dress i swear they have just ment to of got out of bed

  • From a personal view, Jeff Lang's voice annoys me. It has this horrible American twang to it, and that ruins his singing.

  • it's was a little slow but pretty good. :)

  • She mangled that song, out of the 'biz or not.

  • Uhhhhhhrgh! bad!

  • It's not bad... I've seen worse

  • Very stiff, singing is alright, but wrong people for it

  • LOL. at them not getting the embarce joke. losers.

  • i really like it:d

  • ..the anya is AWFUL.. she can sing but WOAH wrong voice...

  • i get wat u mean :/

no offence they both suck :S

  • Lmao at them not getting the "Embrace" joke.

    Oh well.

    Still pretty well done.

  • Well done, but a bit odd to even do it...!

  • Painfully bad acting, great singing though.

  • wow, so slow...

  • Ouch, this kind of hurts my ears.

  • Thi version is soo much better than the other live one...these guys can actually sing, and they can act, and dance. Quite frankly the other one..well they do all those things like they are recovering from having a large dose of pot.

  • And who says thats they weren't?

  • in this version Xander sings the RIGHT note.

  • Emma Caulfield and Nicholas Brendon did way better. Brought more life to the song. Anya and Xander are better fits for this song.

    It was okay, though.

  • Woah. Impressive. Depressingly nerdy, but VERY impressive :D

  • Lol this is so great. You have a great voice.

This scene always made me smile at how many covered-up sexual references were in it.

    God job!

  • The guy was amzing the girl was pretty good but no one can replace Emma. oh are you the guy lol?? Great singing if it you!!

  • Cheers...hehe

  • lol yeah people are being to harsh. I'm a Buffy obsessive fan myself and dispised that other musical thing they put up, it was awful!!! Their Xander was tone deaf =O. Great singing again =)

  • Good Job! People are always going to be critical about Buffy tributes - otherwise we wouldn't be doing our jobs as obsessive fans! *lol* I think the point is that we loved it enough to actually do it - rather than moan about it on video websites. :D

    Oh, and FYI, it's 'Despised'.

  • I majorly amen that.

Oh I soooo knew that lol =P

  • are they brother and sister? "Jeff LANG and Dianne k LANG sing I'll Never Tell from the Buffy Musical"

and they could do with more singing than shouting

but if they weren't 'singing' like they were i'm sure they'd sound much better..

    i'd give it a 4/10

  • No not brother and sister, husband and wife!

  • i didnt like this ,except the dancing. it was like, identical

  • I thought the guy playing Xander was doing a great job-until he completely lost the "tight embrace" joke!! The vocals were great, but it wasn't funny at all. If they had've paid more attention to the comedy I would have loved it

  • good job :) i know i couldn't do something like this even if i wanted to!

    but... nothin beats the original

    *thumbs up*

  • Nicely sung. Could have done more with the dynamics, but the good voices keep me placated.

  • i got goosebumps. you guys were awesome! :)

  • Gave me chills. You did an amazing job.

  • cheers.

  • Nice. Of course, the original is always better, but I think it's alright. Kind of cute in it's own way.

  • The guy was AMAZING she had a nice voice but she looked kind of...off

  • the vocals were excellent but the jokes and acting just didn't land for me. also, i'm not sure why it's so slow...

  • it was good, but it seemed... flat and slow paced.

    I liked it though.

  • ok, i love the musical but it just feels something is missing in this performance. there both good singers but the guys voice didnt sound lyk xanders, which in some cases may be a good thing but it just didnt sound rite. it was a good effort, keep trying!

  • Exactly! And Anya is...Anya. No one can be Anya but Emma!

  • i actually think this is very well done, voices are good as is the dancing.

  • it's pretty good. I'm glad to see someone did this.

that said, the "Tight embrace" part was completely missed in this performance.

  • Yes I agree all the comic banter is completely lost. They play it too straight, but I don't think it's the performers choice so it's an okay performance.

  • I think you guys did a great job and I especially liked the dance number, ya'll nailed it.

  • Pay no attention to any of these people they just don't like variation from the original. As an actress in musical theatre i thought this was an exceptional performance. Well done

  • this is really bad...sorry but you ruined the original. And don't say i don't know anything about musical theatre because i've been over 20 productions :)

  • *in over 20 productions

also i want to point out that while you can sing ( not well i might add), you can not expect buffy fans to just see this as 'fun'. As a buffy fan myself, i feel you let the number down.Don't just hash something out like you have done! you may think i'm overly critical but don't even pretend to be 'professional' by putting on something like this!

  • Your comments show that you are not truly a Buffy fan. The Buffyverse is an inclusive place, not elitist and judgemental. These are people who made an effort to bring something very special to more people and that alone is awesome. The characters on Buffy are very difficult to duplicate.

joss Whedon himself has said how much he loves htese live productions so if it is good enough for him it should be good enough for you.

  • Technically the performance was great. But the cast had more chemistry which was felt and heard in the original that simply wasn't in any of the live productions I've seen.

If this couple had a bit more chemistry they would have been amazing. And I do realize that the couple have the same last name so I'm guessing they're married. Doesn't mean they have great chemistry though.

  • compliments!

  • omg this is so great! kudos to the performers for being so awesome =)

  • Wonderful! The guy's voice was perfect! :)

  • Cheers Jamie

  • you are 15 and call yourself karaoke pwincess, wow i am going to take your opinion as gospel.. I see you have posted lots of great vids of yourself performing....oh wait, no you haven't, perhaps with good reason!

  • i like it

  • the original is better

  • I see....

Has any theatre ever put on a PROFESSONAL live version of the Buffy Musical?

I live near the state theatre in Virginia, The Barter Theatre.... Near Halloween, they somnetimes run Dracula... I would give a weeks pay to be able to watch Once More With Feeling at the Barter!

  • sadly no, the rights have never been released.

  • Could someone please post the whole show???

  • this was the only number from buffy. There were lots from other shows.

  • They both sound great, but there's no real energy behind it...

  • Oooh i really liked this =] Fantastic Job, well done =D

  • Cool

i like walk through the fire =]

  • this tempo seems a bit slow...maybe it's just me.

  • good job folks.

  • at 00.56 he wrecks the joke of:

when im snug in her warm tight...

    tight embrace tight embrace

  • Oh please Addstar, get a grip have you not read the rest of the comments and realise you have wasted your breath? OUT OF CONTEXT...NOT A REPLICA OF SHOW...BIT OF FUN...STOP BEING SUCH A BUFFY GEEK. And wrecks, please, wrecks is that the best verb you have?

  • dude if they are going to do a replica of the song then at least they should give justice to it. and what the hell not a replica of buffy they mentiond her in the f'n song i mean jeesh. joss whedon put a lot of effort coming up with that song and if they leave some parts out it. it dose 'wreck' it and dude wtf bagging my vocab lol.

and plus notise the '1+ good comment' on my comment.

so look like i good and you are bad bad you maby go grrr but oh well coz u smell funyy ha ha ha....

  • You are so right!

The gut sounds like crap, they aren't wearing proper costumes!!!

So what if I am BTVS geek?

You don't go and try to do that without even putting any effort in to it!

  • with him and the embrace they are right, he nailed the rest even with inflection then left that flat like he didn't even get the joke himself. Feels like a shame to nail everything else then miss that. Everything else for a stage show is A+++ they need to actually tour shows like this.

  • If you did any more from Buffy, I'd love to see/hear them.

  • that sadly was all we did from buffy, Greatstgoalie.

  • Firm, yet supple B00-beez! Ozzies & Buffy fans

of the world, unite! We shall hold the earth,

in song. I'd love to see Adam Shankman giggle,

whilst watching this. Thank you all. Buffy'll

always live in our hearts. Thanx to our minds.

  • Was this an amateur production....if so then its great. if its proffesional the im not impressed

  • It was a non paid gig on a small budget.

  • Gotta be amateur...

  • im an actor by profession so i think id have done better lol

  • im a huge buffy fan and i loved this....its great to see it spread to other media

  • The only thing negative I have to say is that I disliked the set up, you didn't get to use all the humorous moments that were built into the song. Other than that, it was quite enjoyable. ^_^

  • yeah-it's always hard to do a number like that out of context. We were also a bit restricted in what we could say and do for this show as we where performing in a school theatre & they where pretty strict with their rules eg we had to take the "f" word out of the Avenue Q stuff we did! Frustrating but thems the breaks!! :-)

  • despite all the other criticism, constructive or not, i enjoyed it a lot.

    =]

  • Is there anybody who has got the instrumental versions of the songs of Once more with feeling? I have an amateurish musical group in Hungary. If you want we can swap, because I have a lot of karaoke and instrumental version of pop and musical songs.

  • where is this

  • Adelaide South Australia

  • No problem, and yeah the one of the comments below was right, people only get really defensive over it because, they love buffy soooo much, they can't stand to see anyone else do it, and because the buffy world is only alive in comics now not t.v so yeah, i really like this one, keep it up and send me a message sometime;)

  • Ok i have to admit, they dont sound anything like Emma & Nicolas, but they made it there own, which is good, i really enjoyed it!!! and theyre both rather hot lol! but yeah will deifnetley go and see live!! A++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ yous are f*****g awesome!!!

  • Cheers Tokomaori!

  • Please don't feel bad for us, after all, our performance was not as embarrassing as your grammar!

  • Oh and by the way ppl criticise it cos its buffy and so amny ppl love it and they cant stand any1 else doing it :) X

  • hehe i love it! very good.. i wanna be in once more with feeling.... im so sad X

  • good job on this, looks like you two are havin a lot of fun with this:) and if people aren't liken the video, then don't watch it! it's that simple!

  • yey, finally people are catching on!!! Keys word people "Fun". Thanks MarylandChick!

  • The woman is very good. Her facial expressions during the beginning dialogue, her voice, her singing. She's very talented.

The guy is alright but not as talented as her. Doesn't have a pleasant singing voice either.

  • this is so cute! you both did a great job!

  • Thanks heaps Lauren. Nice to have some positive feedback for a change

  • You're welcome, people are just stupid, I doubt they could do better.

  • what's this?! F*** even actors are better than that

  • If two people on stage having fun provokes such emotion then perhaps you need to get a life.

  • this is no emotion this is reactions becaus it screwed a good song and don't worry about my life mine is perfect thx

  • hmm ok I just saw what I said this morning... ok that's true no need to say it like that, and I don't have to say that's so bad Im not a singer soory for what I said I guess I can't compare^^

  • Thanks Amicka for your response (the third one), Dianne and I are both award winners and work professionally in the industry. I hate that people view youtube and not look at the content for what it is. This is a bit of fun and in no way a reflection of the TV show. If people have constructive criticism i am all for it but when it is an uneducated, unwarranted attack then said people should perhaps keep their comments to themselves.

  • I welcome any future praise or "constructive" criticism from you in the future.

  • They did pretty great, he was better than her but both were good.

  • they do not know the rythm and they are missing a few words!!

  • which words????

  • How can i remember that song is soo bad!!

  • so you really have nothing constructive to say then?! By the way, you may THINK the rhythm is wrong but at least I KNOW how to spell it!! ps the lyrics were exactly as the official sheet music was written.

  • Nicky was acting while he was singing, and he's a really charming actor with a really charming part to play. That's why people don't like this version as much.

  • I think a lot of people are having problems with this because the Buffy musical was driven by the characters, not the songs...therefore, most of the humor and appeal of the music was driven by the actors' performances. The songs sound really flat and boring when pulled out of context. The singing is fine, but without the real chemistry between Xand and Anya and a camera perspective, what's the point?

  • You are right the songs are not the same out of context however our aim was to show the people of Adelaide that there is more to musical theatre than Oaklahoma!! (ps Jeff & Dianne are married with a beautiful daughter, Inara, so the chemistry is right where it counts!!) ;-)

  • Oklahoma? What's wrong with Oklahoma? :P

I hated musicals (even after seeing the Buffy musicals) until I saw Cabaret a couple of months ago. Now I've got the male lead in a school production of The Fantasticks...in a school full of musical theater nerds. Explain that to me.

  • There is nothing wrong with Oklahoma..just a classic that came to mind when making my point. I've played roles from Brigadoon to Evita so I certainly have an appreciation of all musicals. But like yourself if people only see the same type of musical they may not ever see one they like & think that all musicals suck! Good luck in your production DkL :-)

  • I don't have to accept until next week and there were other good auditions...I'm seriously thinking about not doing it so I have a chance to do some straight theater. Ugh, fecking choices.

  • Never pass up the opportunity to gain experience but at the same time go with your gut feeling. A great musical theatre performer is one who can act & sing (at the same time!!)so straight theatre is really valuable. Hey it's better to have choices than rejections!!!
