They're called plantation shutters.
Most Western high-end hotels provide ironing equipment in their rooms. The quality of the irons can sometimes leave a lot to be desired, though.
Just ask for a separate shower stall next time. Most decent hotels have them in a selection of their rooms as an accessible option for disabled or infirm guests.
